Hello there.
I love your work and have used both TradeReport and TradeChart for years.
I recently joined a trading group. One of the things we share is how well we have done in the day, week or month % wise. I would like to be able to paste a copy of TradeChart but it displays my equity which I don't want. I understand that you are really busy, but, if you can and feel inclined, please will you include the option to "show equity or show % or show all" for the period selected.
I have included 2 pics as examples.
Once again, if you can't or don't want to do it, no problem.

Hello Rob,
Hereby attached a copy of TradeChart, with the option to only show the percentages for equity and balance (Parameter: OnlyShowPercentage (Default: false)). As you can imagine, you can't show both the percentages and the real values due to scaling (the real values could be several orders of magnitude larger, so that the percentages would be dwarfed on the chart).

Have a play and let me know if this meets your requirements. If so, I will then move it to Post 1.

Thank you for the quick response.
The changes to the info panel are great and I can see what you have done to the labels where balance was.
The only thing I would still want is a display of current % for the period displayed either on the chart (as per attached pic) or in the Price area where you have Max & Min % displayed.

Hi Renee,

I use TradeChart on all my accounts to keep track of things.
Now I'm in the position to withdraw frequently, I noticed that the percentages change with every withdraw [or I'm to thick to see what I need to change in the inputs].

Is it possible to add a user-changeble variable 'deposit' where one can enter the original deposit value?

[I'm currently using TradeChart3]

I have noticed that too. I think that TradeChart recalculates the percentages based on current balance and equity, rather than the balance and equity at the time the drawdown happened. I'm used to it now, but I was surprised that the indicator changed the historical value.

I will have a look at what is possible to automate this.

The problem we're facing is that the indicator is trying to calculate the balance at the start of the reporting period. Unfortunately, there is no function in MQL4 to provide this information. (Or fortunately, as that would be too easy ... it would take away all the fun of programming :arrrg: ) So, what the silly code does is this: It knows what the current account balance is (That's easy: it is just AccountBalance()). Then it works its way back to the starting period, deducting from the current balance all the positively closed trades and adding all the negatively closed trades. In this exercise it only includes trades that meet the trade selection parameters (i.e. MagicNumber, CommentFilter, SymbolFilter and CurrencyFilter). The idea behind this was/is that TradeChart() aims to measure/quantify the effect the selected trading system has to the bottom line of the account. So, it therefore excludes other trade transactions that happen on the account in the same reporting period. However, what I now understand from you guys, is that it should include any account transactions that are not trade closures.

Account transactions, other than trade closures have different OrderType()'s. This is not documented (why am I not surprised?), but I heard on the grapevine that these are the OrderType() codes for these transactions:
  • 6: Balance/Deposit/Withdrawal
  • 7: Credit
  • 8: Rebate
In the attached, experimental version (called TradeChart4), the code includes these above listed special account transactions for working out the start balance. Please let me know if this solves your problem and floats your boat. Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury to withdraw money from my account(s) ... so, I can't test it myself.

Hi Renee,

Thanks a lot.

With the new version;
- the deposit amount is now shown as minimun balance, which is right in my case.
- the withdraws are shown in the linegraph, which I didn't expect to be but is logical as the balance drops with every withdrawal. Also the largest dropline highlight the biggest withdraw instead of the biggest losing day [which I had none till now].
- the total amount withdrawn is also deducted from the totall profit, so this figure is too low.
- the gain-% is calculated right, using the deposit value, but the wrong profit value.

The mail from GlobalPrime that reached me on Wednesday was the second of its kind:
Your account has exceeded the limit of messages again. Please see below.
Please have a look at your EA to see if there's a way to reduce the messages.

Apparently my terminal did re-login to the server every 10 seconds, which is the polling time of the TDesk 7 beta I am testing right now. Unfortunately my client side log had only some 300 lines and did not show all those permanent re-logins. The GP helpdesk staff was very dedicated and in close communication with permanent feedback on the server logs to help me hunt this bug down. Finally the problem could be fixed.

Why in hell do I post this here? Because there is a second part of the story.

All tests up to here were done with only TDesk running on my terminal. All was fine, the server logs were clean and so I applied my standard template. Quick came the feedback from GP that the logins are back, but now with a period of 30 seconds. Which is the polling rate of TradeChart. Which I had applied to my chart again.

We did some more tests and could indeed isolate TradeChart as the cause. The problem applies to TradeChart2 (which I prefer) and TradeChart3, demo accounts and live accounts with trader or investor login, different machines and old or freshly installed Empty4 terminals.

As this puts unnecessary load on the trade servers, Nicholas from GP asked me to inform the coder of TradeChart that his program is doing something he might not be aware of. Which I have done hereby.
