You might want to have a look here to see a plethora of EA's based on the HGI indicator or library.

Hello, renexxxx. Marvelous dashboard/matrix. I am digging through the code now to find a way to modify the alerts to my preference. If you happen to be bored or have time to help me, I would appreciate if you can point me to the relevant sections of code, but if not, please do not worry about it.

What I want to do is receive (Big Arrow, blue wavy) alerts only on H4 (first column for me) if I am NOT watching that pair, that is, the box is not blue from clicking on it, and the Global Variable is 0 (for x10:y10_Symbol(0,0)1,0, for example), but if the Global Variable is 1 (I clicked it Blue and am watching), then I only want specific alerts, Big Arrow in H4 direction or yellow wavy (this may be handled by the EA), on the M15 (my second column), and only the yellow wavy, StartOfTrend on the H4, to stop watching.

As I said, no worries if you are busy or do not wish to mess with this. I am a decent programmer and getting better, but not as good as many of you here.

Oh, yes, and if possible, could you program the alert to notify me 5 minutes before it actually occurs, so I can wake up or get back to my computer before the real alert happens? Just kidding :smile:

HGIMatrix is a generic, highly configurable tool for displaying HGI signals. What you are suggesting is a very specific requirement and this will not be added to the core code.

A Mercedes is a generic transportation device. You are not going to ask Mercedes factory, to add a feature such that the vehicle can only drive to your workplace. That would be detrimental to the generic product.

Thank you for the reply. As usual with my coding, I know what I want to do, and just have to figure out how to do it within the programming language. Thank you very much for all the helpful comments within your code.

This is by design and intention, not defective ... see the documention on ChartApplyTemplate. The reason for this is security: An indicator is not allowed to do trade operations. Therefore, an indicator can not open another chart from which trade operations are permitted -- as that would be a breach of security.

If, however, you store an EA in the default.tpl template, and you open a chart with ChartOpen() from an indicator, the EA is able to do trade operations. This is a breach of security (as the calling program (the indicator)) was not able to place trades.
