I have been having some great success (so far) with version 1w of HGB Grid along with a basket manager taking profit as soon as it hits 2%. However I am having some issues each day with large DD after HGI gives a big green arrow and then the market turns around and heads south - which of course I have no problem with - that is forex after all.

My question is how people avoiding hitting a margin limit on smaller accounts? I am testing $2000 demo on GP and using .01 lots per $1500 and with the massive DD's I am constantly getting down to around 180% margin before things turn around and fix themselves when the London/US sessions open.

I can't go any lower than .01 lots with GP as my broker so my options would be to perhaps reduce the grid to 2-3 rather than 5, updating to newer versions and using the off-setting, closing off the EA during the quieter Asian sessions where I seem to be getting stuck in these trades to begin with or perhaps reducing the number of charts I use (which is only 10).

I am coming from a background of a few years using the Oanda platform with manual price action trading so I know every little about EA's, Empty4 and have always been able to use whatever lot size I wanted on Oanda but of course I can't use the brilliant HGB on that platform :D

Hi Rollbahn,

First and foremostly using 10 charts on a small account is way too many...you need to be selective and choose a few pairs from the majors only.. ;)

Thanks that's certainly an option to keep me away from a margin call - might be good to run tests on my VPS:

1. Reduce chart number and still run with 5 in my grids OR
2. Keep chart number at 10 and reduce grids to 2 or 3

Both will help with margin issues but not sure what would be the best.

Hi all,
I know absolutely nothing about coding and need an answer to an error that keeps popping up. I am trying to use Holy Graily Bob n Grid 3Q_260 and it gives me the error of "Holy Graily Bob 'n Grid3Q_260 USDCAD,H4: Alert:USDCAD Holy Graily Bob 'n Grid3Q_260 OP_BUYSTOP order send failed with error(4051): invalid function parameter value. I also get the error "Holy Graily Bob 'n Grid3Q_260 USDCAD, H4: invalid lots amount for OrderSend function. I left the EA on all night to see if any currency would trade, but got nothing. Can anyone help? Thanks

Check your lot size in the input parameters.

Thanks for the replies. I guess the problem is in the Empty4 server I was using, because I used another server and everything works as planned. I was using the FXPrimus Empty4 and now using ACMFX Empty4.

After sending a pending order sometimes the ea removed itself. :o

The answer is in the Shell User Guide pdf. Page 2.

Many EA's are based on the shell EA. Use the search function of this forum to locate the document. I recommend reading it :shock: ;)
