So if I drag v15.08 on the charts and do a visual backtest (i.e scrolling back through 2014) I see what I would have got in real-time (after the close of the specific candle)? Or is it worthless to do such a visual backtest because there could have been many more arrows and waves in real-time which disappeared because the conditions changed?

this type of visual backtest is worthless, because in realtime could have been arrows and wavies different drawn, when their candle was an open candle, as the live daw process is like the pricemoving process in realtime a very dynamic thingy.

Thanks Tommaso, I understand. So this kind of visual backtest would only be useful if HGB would fire trades after the close of a candle, right? Because once the cndle is closed the signals won't change anymore..

You can do visual back testing till you are blue in the face and it would be complete waste of time.

Do some forward testing and learn how to read the signals that HGB gives. That is the way forward.

Go back and read Bob's PDF several times till you can read the signals in your sleep.

The market is still very volatile at the moment, start forward testing on demo next week.

Okay, I made up my mind how to attack the FX-market using HGB this year....
I set up HGB on all H4 charts with 1 entry on each;
- trend arrow
- wavy line
- wavy+trend (double lotsize)
NO TP or SL through HGB.

I then added MPTM to add;
- 1 x ATR SL
- 1 x ATR BE+0
- 1 x ATR JS

This SL/ BE/ JS works magic on PipcruisersPipmasher, so it might be usefull here as well.

The reason I don't set HGB to close on reverse signals is that a lot of times a reverse signal closes the trades, only to disappear after a while with price continuing in the original direction.

Time will tell if I'm right in my thinking.... :smile:

I'm getting numerous requests for what settings I use for HGB and the MPTM, I will post them here instead of answering each individually.

You need the attached version of MPTM, otherwise it won't work.
HGB settings are for Steve latest, 2e, attached in post 1 at the moment.

These settings are just something I pulled out of my a.. while watching charts and suchs ( I don't own a bathtub) so don't be disappointed if it turns out to be a loosing strategy.

(already checked Bob's latest? 16.00 for the H1? Makes me wanna fire up yet another demo... :clap: )

boinvest has done all the work on this one. :clap: :clap: :clap: He has found and fixed a few bloops and added features such as stop losses in the places where I had not bothered, to give you guys all the flexibility possible.

"He has found and fixed a few bloops" doesn't sound like much, but trust me to know that this took hours and hours. Tracking down bloops in your own code is hard enough; finding them in someone else's can be nigh on impossible. We owe him a great big thank you. :clap: :clap: :clap:
