Question related to partially closed positions.

Today for the first time I had positions closed partially. In my case the broker or EA changed the comment field to something like "Was [pc-d] #9723872" and override the comment used by the EA to track the positions which I believe would make the position an orphan or maybe the magic number is enough for the position to kept being monitored by the EA?

Does anyone knows what will happen to the position(s) from now on?
Better to close the partial position manually or let the EA deal with it?

Thanks

>> I've read this about partial closure in the forum but I do not quite understand how/if the EA will keep dealing with it <<
Next is dydynamic's partial basket closure.
In 'normal' trading buys will be above sells but a mixture of market movement
gap filling and offsetting can leave a bunch of buys below the lowest sell.

Imagine the market has fallen for a substantial period with sufficient
yoyo to allow a large number of losing buys to trigger, that are hedged by
winning sells.

The market rises substantially, closing a lot of sells through offsetting. The
profit from the winning buy at the bottom is insufficient to close the
loser at the top. Some of the market buy trades are now below the
lowest sell trades.

dydynamic's partial basket closure keeps a tally of the increasing
profits of the profitable buys and closes them when the profit
reaches BasketTakeProfit, so long as this results in cash profit.
The remaining buys will become profitable if the market rise continues.
The profitable ones will not become losers if the market reverses again and falls,
because they have been closed.

Vice-versa if the highest sell is above the highest buy.

Complex single sided offsetting may deal with this situation. We
shall see.
EDIT: Seems the EA takes care of the partial close positions and closed some left open. The logic is still not 100% clear.

I do not care whether the logic is not 100% clear to you. For flying fuck's sake, it is essentially my bot and it isn't clear to me.

Guess how Thomas became the total star he is here.

Not sure?

Really?

Here is how. He did not hit me with a list of problems. He sent me a list of solutions. He became an SHF star overnight.

You have spotted a problem? It does not appear to be bothering the rest of us. Solve it or shut up.

Capiche?

Hi.

Your avatar tells me you can take a direct objection. I want to add one here.

I dont know what you did read, but you clearly didnt understand some basics. First, Dydynamics closure is about closing PARTS OF A BASKET, not PARTIAL CLOSE of a single position. Second, I really dont know which EA you are talking about. You never even told us. I am not aware of any code in the Dotties that partially closes any position. I neither know any broker that would partially close your positions. So you must have boldly messed up things yourself.

You did not spot a problem. You created one. Before confusing people here, better duck and study a lot more. And consider praying 2-3 rosaries. Just to play it safe.

Dear Steve, dear Tomele

I think my writing got misunderstood. I meant to say that the logic is still not 100% clear to ME and I would like to understand it better and was seeking advise from the expert members of SHF regarding this effect.

As you both stated it's not an EA (HGBnD) problem. It's not a problem at all as the EA kept managing those positions and they got fully closed afterward.

The last thing I want is to create more problems to you and confuse others. I believed it might help others with same types of entries "Was [pc-d] #TradeID" and "Order #TradeID [pc-d-] (see screen shots in attachments) to simply leave it with the EA as it will keep managing the positions correctly.

Sorry and thank you for the clarifications

Hi,
re my problem with HolyGrailyBob'n'dotty not taking trades (Feb 16 2017).
I reinstalled my terminal.exe and reloaded all relevant EA's and indicators, and now HGBnD doae take trades in backtesting, but for 2 weeks has not made any trades in forward testing. Allsettings are OOTB.

Has anyone else had any trouble getting the latest version of HGBnD to work?

Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Nick

Regarding --Wavy Line Trading --

WaveTradeBlueToYellowOnly
If True, does it close a Blue Wavy trade immediately when the Yellow Wavy appears?

If not, which settings do set to close the trade when the Yellow Wavy appears?
Yellow: These indicate the start of a range and are used by HGB to close trades when they appear.
I tried
WaveCloseOnOppositeArrow = True
WaveCloseOnOppositeTMA = True

Log seems fine, there's no error.

Here's an example I just ran into.
1. It opened a trade on Red Trend Arrow
2. It didn't close the trade on Yellow Wavy. (TrendCloseOnOppositeTMA = True)
3. It closed the trade on Blue Wavy but didn't open a new trade.

Secondly

I have a feeling it's not trading the 15M
TradingTImeFrame = 0

The screenshot doesn't show any signals.
Should I set a hard TradingTImeFrame = 15?

Did you see the comment not enough margins. This might be the reason.

I've now disable margin check and test again.

By the way, the pics above did make a trade, but there's no TREND and no WAVY signals.

I complied both the Code Shell and Dotty as is and it looks like this.
It is displaying the words after // instead of extern bool.

Need help here, thanks
