Going back to what I said earlier about DD increasing dramatically at the end of the week and then falling gradually through the following week.

Less than an hour after market open, my dd as fallen $400. I could now close out at an overall profit since going live with HGBnG of $700. All in round figures. I am leaving it on the table.

I will keep you guys in touch with what I do and the decisions I take re dealing with the dd. I figure that if I can do it, and I am an idiot, then you can do so as well. You will know what not to do if I get it wrong. Just remember that I am playing with funds I can afford to lose. No, I do not want to and would cry a lot if I did, but the mortgage company would not repossess the house. I stress again: never trade with funds you cannot afford to lose. Doing so would make you desperate and lead you to make bad decisions. Guess how I know. ;)

I have my hands dirty with the experimental Version since last week... So far so good!
For this week I had placed it on 3 chart live account along side with HGBnG 1q with my open trades. Very excited about this latest version!

smpcoe has pm'd me with a bloop in the user guide. Just in case there is any confusion in the minds of less experienced members, the stop and limit orders system is:
  • 2. Stop and limit orders. This is for US citizens who cannot use hedging and for those who prefer the, “I am right or I am out” approach:
    • Buy signal: buy stops above market; buy limits below.
    • Sell signal: sell stops below market; sell limits above.

I saw the equity and that umpteen open trades could be closed overall at a small profit, so I did. $2,252 profit in under two weeks and flat for the weekend. Wow. Double wow. Triple wow with an extra helping of wow sauce.

I am enjoying myself rather a lot these days.

Hi Steve,

I see you trade more pairs than usuall using "the EA formerly called experimental".
Do you intend to trade all these pairs live as well? Is there some record of the margin-requirements using this many pairs?

HGBnG has been amazing so far!

I am running 3 demos starting this week:

1. Stop and Limit orders, running from opening of the trading week Sunday, closing 9 hours before trading week end.

2. Stop and Limit orders, running from opening of the trading week Monday, closing 9 hours before trading week end.

3. Stop orders only, running from opening of the trading week Monday, closing 9 hours before trading week end.

I found this is the most profitable time for me to close at the end of the week.

Hoping to go live next week! Will update at the end of the week.

My DD has dropped a lot today, and is now down to $1100, using round numbers for convenience. I could close out and bank about $1,400. I am going to let this run for a while yet. I am learning.

Here is a cautionary tale for you folks. It involves my, "Should I close out now?" principle. When the question pops into your head, the answer is an unequivocal, "Yes." Don't prevaricate. Don't think about it. Just do it.

I have 12 AChf buys open at a combined DD at the mo of -821 pips and -$562 - and they have been a lot worse than that.

What seems like a lifetime ago, but is actually only a few weeks, there were far fewer trades showing a profit of $78. No idea what the pips profits was, I just remember the dollar profit as that is all I really care about when it comes to my live trading account.

The Question popped into my head: "Should I close out now?" I decided to leave it to HGBnG. The price dropped like a stone.

The market retraced at one point to where I could have closed out at BE, but I was out at the time and missed it.

I have buy stop trades above the market and have done so for a while. Today's rally has given me the chance to offset a few new winners against a few of the old losers, but still some way to go.

Happily, I am on the right side of the swap. I dread to think what would have happened were these sell trades rather than buys. :arrrg:

I continue to make progress. Amongst all this. GChf kicked in today with $43 to add to the float.

HGBnG is a pretty nifty piece of kit.

That's not bad Steve! I have been able to manage DD by a lot of manual interventions or by closing baskets to offset pairs that were in DD for a week or so. Basically my idea is to keep the pairs that go in DD the opportunity to make profits on the next signals generated by hgi and the ea. I have noticed this brings the risk down and increases profits in the long term. I looked back in history to see that for most part if I keep pairs in DD and hope they'll come out BE or little profit in two weeks or more. I noticed ea misses on at least two or more good signal if I don't close DD pairs asap.

I will continue to work on strategies to make our DD problem manageable. I don't think we can get rid of it all together. :shock:
