All, You will see from the widgets that I've started new accounts. With the whole disk space debacle on my computer I lost access to the accounts that were on Myfxbook which means that the EA's couldn't function properly without the platforms running which would have given a skewed result. A pity because they were showing good results. However, they were set with "balls to the wall" settings which would have led to sleepless nights had that been my own "real" money. I asked myself if I was trading for someone else with their money--would I have had those settings? Answer is hell no...which I suppose is the acid test. I have attached the Competition account running on Myfx with Fx-Pro which has taken a beating with the lost disk space nonsense but I'm hanging in there purely as an instructive exercise. With a leverage of 1:100 I was always going to be skating close to the edge with 6c2's settings but lets see. The other 2 are 6c4 with equity with a "full retrace" on and the other with "full retrace" off as a comparison to see which setting is most effective. When I explain how 6c4 works this will make more sense. These are set far more consservatively than their predecessors. I opened these 2 this afternoon (on a Friday after NFP--what was I thinking?) so don't expect any fireworks yet. I'm just debating whether to start a new thread with 6c4 so folk don't get confused because otherwise we will have 3 separate EA's on this forum. viz 6c single, 6c2 and 6c4. I'll be back. |

Pooler, I've been doing some playing around with the latest versions and like where this is going. I think that changing some of the set up parameters will make this more effective in use across multiple pairs. At the moment the EA is using a standard pip distance for grid entry and take profit across different pairs. This is ok for testing and optimizing on a single pair but is difficult for multiple pairs due to different daily ranges. Some pairs may have a daily range of say 80 pips while others may have a daily range closer to 180 pips. Also the same pairs daily range may change from under 100 to closer to 200 at different parts of the year. What I'm suggesting is to define the grid size and take profit as multiples of the average daily range with a different variable (multiple for each). This will allow more accurate set ups across different pairs and a level of "adaptiveness" within a pair as the daily range changes over time. I've found that using the ADR divided by 4 gives pretty consistent results across nearly every pair for longer term grids (like Pooler) and 6 or 7 for aggressive short term grids. Using this formula on a template creates almost automatic optimization for the pair. Some further optimising eg for JPY pairs or USD pairs is then a matter of tweaking a single template for all related pairs. Using this approach will then take away the need to try and optimise "Pooler" for each pair which can't be done easily as they change over the year A similar thought would be to define your lot size increments as a starting lot size and then use a multiple of this for increments. I've attached a version of my grid trader that allows for the grid and take profit to be defined by the ADR or set independently and also allow the multiple of growth in lot size to be defined. I have no idea about the actual coding as this was done by someone competent ( ie not me). Hope this helps. yell out if i can help rgds Peter |

Hi Peterke, Thanks for your interest and input. If you look at the original Pooler (on the Pooler San thread) it had management stats on the left of each chart relating to ADR because I was thinking along those exact lines. The coder at the time had some difficulty with this which is why we ended up with a set grid to make things easier to implement. I still believe in the concept which will make the strategy stronger as it will take trades relevant to the ADR of the pair and ultimately lessen the draw down even though 6c4 will profit regardless of how price runs. Thanks again Peterke, I'm not so sure about the "DAFT" part of that EA of yours... Some background. I spent a lot of time analysing stats for various currency pairs using the attached indicator. I like it because it uses 20, 10, 5, and 1 days ADR/4 to give an average. This means that the most recent activity has the same weighting as 20 days ago. Even so, its still an historical figure. An ADR of 250 after a period of volatility usually means a decrease in ADR will follow. But your EA is now using 250 because of recent volatility and sets the grids wider...but volatility has now decreased so no trades are taken. Then as ADR reduces to an average of say 180 the grid sizes get correspondingly smaller. You get increased trade activity but then volatility spikes to 280 and price takes off filling a lot of levels which makes the draw down go hay wire. What I did was analyse daily ADR stats for each pair over a 2 year period and got an average. As per Nanningbobs stats re pairs volatility I found that you could put pairs into 3 groups. I then tested those settings 100's of times over various periods of time with various settings. I found that an opening grid of 50 was a good average but it had to increase each level by 50 each time otherwise price could easily run past 10 levels without retracing enough to hit TP. It was remarkable how many pairs ADR were not that far from each other. Some pairs like AudNzd, EurChf and EurGbp I decreased the first level to 40 to get more activity and with EurNzd, GbpJpy and GbpNzd I increased to 60. The rest did ok with 1st level set at 50. Then when I started trading I set a target of $50 (not pips) per trade as I had a fair idea of how many trades TP every day (about 10 a day). That meant I could aim at an account increase of a certain % and then that would determine the settings I would use. That said...I still like the idea of using ADR. User Name jumped on this this weekend and produced an EA which I tested this weekend and have running on demo at the moment. I asked him to leave the OR levels settings because based on what I said above those are tested and proven settings. Here is UN's explanation below "...and here is your ADR version based on 20,10,5 and 1 days average ADR. The settings might be a liitle conceptual but this way you keep the flexibility. The extra setting is "FiftyPipIsPercentADR". If you fill in 0 then the ADR function is switched off and the OR sizes are determined by the OR sizes you enter in the settings (as per current version). If you want to use the ADR function, you enter a percentage (25, 50 etc) but you must also enter the OR sizes like with the current version. What I have done is the following. The percentage you enter will be act as a multiplier to the OR you entered but based on ADR. Example: the ADR of a pair is 200 pips. In the OR settings you entered 50, 100, 150 etc. as per usual. In the FiftyPipIsPercentADR setting you entered 50. The following calculation happens: OR for this pair should be: (ADR * (FiftyPipIsPercentADR/100))/ 50 * entered OR size. so in this case (200*(50/100)/50*50 (first entered OR) = 100. So although you entered an OR level of 50 pips, the EA will use an OR of 100 pips (because the ADR is twice as large as the base calculation of 100 pips). The setting are displayed in the management data on the left and of course in the summary of each trade below the settings on the screen.. The reason I did it this way is you keep control over the OR sizes and relative distances, only now they are compensated for the ADR. Eur/usd is used as a base because it;s ADR is about 100, so these distance is EU are recalculated for each pairs ADR" I have posted Fx Pooler 6c2 no print ADR in Post 1 |

To give some clarity as to the 2 EA's that are currently in Post 1 #. I've started 3 demo's to compare 3 EA's with each other. The 2 that are in Post 1 # viz. 6c Single and 6c2 and 6c4 which is still in development. The way these EA's are designed make 6c single conservative, 6c2 moderate and 6c4 very aggro The 3 widgets below are the Myfxbook accounts. Each has 50k account with 1:400 leverage 6c Single is RS only. OR levels are 50,100,150,200,250,300,350,400,450,500 Lot sizes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 TP% 100,60,50,50,50,50,50,50,50,50 62c no print with ADR OR levels are 50,100,150,200,250,300,350,400,450,500 Lot sizes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 TP% 100,60,50,50,50,50,50,50,50,50 MS 50000 (too switch it off) MS lot sizes (irrelevany as its switched off) ADR 50% 6c4 BE Equity Target no print Still in development stage |

Pooler, a general question, now that the strategy has changed from a tight daily open retracement are you thinking to run this ea on a small number of pairs at a higher level of risk or most pairs at a low level of risk. Reason for the question is that some pairs suit this strategy eg USDCAD while others I'm struggling to get to trade for any period of time? I suspect it will depend on how the MS part of the strategy works? rgds\\Peter |
