Indicators in FSB use data set, brokers and market settings. They do not have access to trades and positions and therefore a Jumping SL cannot be made as a custom indicator.

Integrated SL, TP, BE are coded in the core of the backtester.

I have plans to expose trading stats to the indicators, in a way that to be possible to make custom indicators as SL, TP, and such that add or reduce a position depending on the current profit ,but it will not happen in the upcoming releases.

As I know, there are no such indicators build in Empty4 platform, right? A trader codes them in his expert adviser. In the same way one can add such features to the FST expert. There is no problem also an skillful programmer to add them to the code of FSB. According to the license, FSB / FST can be freely modified for personal use. Also such improvements can be contributed to the project and included in the next releases.

Ahh, I saw them whilst looking at different exit options, and assumed that they were indicators, (well, modules really, I know they're not indicators), and could be over-ridden by a custom version.

I'm looking forward to that! :) I have a crazy scale-in method where I'll risk a certain percentage of locked-in profit each time I scale in... Each scale-in trade has to hit break-even before I open the next one... When I get in on a long enough run, I can double my lot-size whilst still risking the same percentage of locked-in profit :)

I was thinking along the lines of indicator <=> module, and got myself nicely confused ;)

I wanted everyone to start to become acquainted with this new feature in FSB 3.0 custom sorting. It can be experienced right now in the 2.98 RC beta.

FSB does less things than Empty4, but what it does is better. I was familiar with MT before starting FSB. If MT was good enough, FSB would never existed.

One example: searching if an indicator is rising
The most of experts do this something like this:

Code: Select all

If (indicator[0] > indicator[1])
{
   // It is rising
}
other use better code:

Code: Select all

If (indicator[0] > indicator[1] + epsilon)
{
   // It is rising
}
Do you think this is good enough?

I don't.

I'm 100% sure that some good programmers have excellent and robust expert advisers, but the general users don't. MT doesn't care if you make bad expert. It's your problem. In the other hand, FSB tries to do the things correctly for everyone.

So I may say, if you are good programmer or have good expert adviser, Empty4 is better for you.
FSB is for faster check of a theory or generating a strategy with a predefined structure. Empty4 is for programming of complex strategies.

Excellent, I'll need help at some time when I start implementing the new FSB Pro features in FST.
We'll need to expand the expert and the library in order to provide data for several symbols to FST.

When I start working on that problem I'll probably open a separate topic for discussing ideas and code.


I like this forum! It covers multiple subjects of the trading process.

Spending a lot of time testing the beta and learning all the features so I can compile a complete video help section on version 3. These will be short 5-10 minute videos eventually covering the version in detail. That way people can just pick out something they are unfamiliar with and learn by video. This will take some time but will open up the program to more people I think.

The EURUSD 112 and 113 strategies have not lost. Do not trade real frequently but stay out of the chop.
Will see. Profit got bumped up when one of them got its lots set wrong so went ahead and adjusted them to be the same.
