The reason i asked was because i wanted to know if anyone had any advice about the exit strategy here. I started the demo on sunday and its up 600 pips... But when do i harvest them?

Yes - no doubt that's a difficult question to answer. I have been scaling out after big moves and moving stops manually to well below recent swing lows/highs etc. BUT I have been thinking about it and I am not sure that's the best option. I am actually thinking that it might be better to just exit on any reversal bar (just any bar against the trend) after a decent move, in areas that the trend could reverse. Simple reason being if you have scaled out and the trend continues you have a smaller position and if you exit on a reversal bar then the EA will set a pending above it anyway and you are back in with a full position - you obviously just "miss out" on the pips to get back to the entry point.

The trouble is I have 15%+/4000+ pips floating and I am loathe to change what is working so well. I think I will bite the bullet and do this though - although it will be difficult to judge whether it is better or not. Mmmm. Maybe need a second demo.

What about using a jumping stop... This will let the matket kick you out on a reversal... And if trent resumes you come back fresh...

I personally think giving up a few pips while increasing the chance to avoid getting caught in a counter trend rally is worth it.

Well that's up to you - give it a go. Personally I have yet to find a jumping stop mechanism that works as I want it to and it only takes me 5 minutes at the end of every day to moves stops as I like.

Great results Doc & others!

@ Matt : Sorry for the late reply, I am very busy these days and not much time left for trading :(

It depends on your style, I have been testing close every Friday, 2% MPTM etc, but I have no conclusion of what is best.

Seems like Gertje and Doc has nailed it, both with different styles....one could even close every end of day and repeat...

On another note, I plan soon to do a test soon, where i skip the monthly TF and only using week/day...but again, if it ain't broke.....

Have a great weekend all,

PC

@pipcruiser

Do you manually handle your trades ( close them at some point and bank your profits) or you let them run?. Is there a point where you decide to close them and start again?

I'm not sure why this bot doesn't have more attention as so far its a gem.

thanks xfactors for posting your results.

I think that the pipmasher bot is very boring compared to the "high frequency" ones and hence gets less attention. - Most people like action and to see a bot trade all the time.

But Pipmasher is good old (boring) trend/ price action trading, mixed with a dash of "keep it simple stupid".

Sure, this might be boring but I think it's one of the safest strategies on here.

Thinking of an exit strategy, I would personally prefer to use manual stop movement but that isn't realistic, there is no way I could baby sit the trade that often. So, what about using SSSR and trail using supply/demand zones on H4? I'm going to go ahead and stick this bit in the code and see what happens. Any thoughts on this method or the appropriate time frame? I think Daily is a bit of a stretch and H1 will stop out to often.
