I agree that ignoring a currency pair just because of a losing streak is nonsense. But in the case of AUDNZD I think that they are too similar to create enough volatility to get into the green. E.g. I'd never ban GBPCAD because of a losing streak, but this is something completely different to AUDNZD.

Cheers

If I could, I would be at Bora Bora sipping my Mai Tai and counting the billions on my bank account.

No, seriously, I've always had the feeling that trading the AUDNZD wouldn't lead to something good, just like EURCHF. But as an almost newbie trader I'm ready to learn from you professionals :D

The past days I've been thinking about using a partial close to get some pips in early and let the other part just have a free run with a jump stop. The tricky part is where to take of the partial profit. I like my strategies to be at least 1:1 risk reward and at least 50% win rate. As far as I can see from most forward demo's and my own 50% won't be a problem, but I want to get a 1:1 risk reward on the first part as soon as possible. The second part I just consider bonus pips.

The simplest way would be a 100 pip SL and a break even with 50% partial close at 200 pips.
100 pips x 0,02 lots = 200 pips x 0,01 lot and let the second part run

I started looking for way too cash in the pips earlier and came up with the following:

100 pip SL and a break even with a 50% partial close at 150 pips with a BEP of 50 pips.
100 pips x 0,02 lots = 150 pips x 0,01 lot + 50 pips from the BEP of the second part if it turns around.

The main difference is that your reach your break even point 50 pips earlier and the gap for your jump stop is smaller. Personally I think the smaller gap is nice advantage as well.

Problem here is that not all markets have the same volatilty and this is based on fixed amounts, so if I would use ATR for SL and BE the fixed 50 pips of the BEP would mess up the ratio's (one of my OCD's). For the same reason I can't use a trailing stop since it uses fixed pips as well.

Now comes my big question, is it possible to code a BEP or trailing stop with ATR multiplier? Or does anyone know an even better way to manage partial profits without the need of coding? Feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Ps. This type of trade management requires multiple lots so you're taking higher risks, keep that in mind.

One thing I've found useful in various systems I've experimented with is to use StdDev with a long period (eg 400) as the basis for the stop loss & take profit, rather than fixing a pip value.

That way if the market tightens up & is no longer moving as far then your TP levels will be realistically achievable, and if it gets volatile with large swings your SL/TP will be accordingly larger with smaller position sizes to reflect the increased risk.

It will also make the system work better OOTB without having to guess at appropriate pip values for different currency pairs.

I am not sure, I didn't miss anything - I am amazed that to my knowledge nobody modified the underlying lookback period principle because it seems very strange to me, that it should not matter, how we define the past weekly and monthly periods.
To explain I draw a small scheme which shows the point and wonder, what you think and whether it would make sense to code a fixed lookback period PPS-option.
The question would be:
Model A: the last 20 trading days, the last 5 trading days, the last day
or
Model B: the last 4 weeks, the last week, the last trading day

It seems strage to me too. I've been reviewing the past trades of different PipCruiser Accounts like xfactornos' for example and I didn't see anything special about the lookback period. I mean, sometimes there are good trades after the 20th and sometimes there are bad trades.

What is seems to be clear to me is that when this system fails is usually after the 20th. So, I think we just need to decide if take the risk or not.

Anyway, we'll see what happens in the next months. This system in D1 timeframe has been quiet since mid January/February and even soI managed to increase my account (+30%), so maybe we should avoid assumptions and conclusions until the system catches a good long-term movement.

Regards.

Dear all

I am new in the whole forum, however I was thinking on how to improve the great PPoS, and beside all the wonderfull ideas I miss in the forum the idea to use another MM system, instead the typical fixed lot, %risk,etc...
Since I saw working in a forward test with Rstudio a simple inverse martingala, I attach herein the results of the forward test...
I suggest to implement this MM based on the inverse martingale in order to maximize the good results by doubling the lots while you are minimizing the SL keeping it fix and/or reducing it during a series of losses...

Regards :)

Hi, in Zennors Piproid there is a dynamic atr setting for the pending buffer pips. Any thoughts about it being implemented in PPoS also?

This week was not so brilliant (only trading main trades).
The picture is from my demo.

Could it be possible that the results can have anything to do with that the monthly direction is getting further away than earlier in the month (like someone mentioned earlier)?

There was some ideas about using last 4 weeks direction instead of last monthly, would this improve PPoS?
(sorry for my bad english)
