Hello Thomas Basically it was the D1H4H1 set file Leon talked about with sixths enabled and DIAD enabled at the default settings. I will post them tommorow morning when i get to my main PC where i tried them. With that opportunity allow me to also thank you for the invaluable help and the excellent tools you provide in our fight. Regards Dikeos |

Wow ! First post and 3 of my favorite guys including the Boss himself are looking after me ? Yes Steve i think it is due to price proximity. I think 1 hour pivots are very close together. Regards Dikeos |

Not sure if related but I've multiple entries like this one in my logs growing to 16 MB during the day see attachment. Might be the broker might be my set file but something has changed that prevent the EA to send the grids. Also the 600 default delay seems to get overridden as the EA try to place the stop grids multiple times per minute 0 23:21:47.236 HGnD-core EURJPY,H1: Alert: EURJPY HGnD-core OP_BUYSTOP order send failed with error(3): invalid trade parameters Bid = 124.210: Price = 124.271 0 23:21:47.236 HGnD-core EURJPY,H1: EURJPY HGnD-core OP_BUYSTOP order send failed with error(3): invalid trade parameters Bid = 124.210: Price = 124.271 |

Hi Dikeos, I am still working on some stuff here. It is not going to be as easy as I thought for the D1H4H1 set. If you incorporate sixths you will see that it is linked to the trading timeframe and in this case our trading timeframe is the pivot hourly timeframe, so sixths will trade on the hourly timeframe. It would not be a great idea to set the pivot timeframe to 15 minutes. So with sixths on the hourly timeframe which could incorporate a swing of hundreds of pips it would not be a great idea to scalp. Reason is simple, you would get a few scalps and wait for a long time for a trade at the opposite side of sixths. Of course we can set the sixths divisor to 2 to get more trades. Not a great idea in my opinion as we want to buy low and sell high. Steve usualy sets his take profit at the mid line of sixths on the hourly time frame if I am not mistaken. Another idea is to play with BLSH where we have fexibility with timeframes. I am also testing this. Who would have thought that trading small timeframes could actually become a medium term strategy? Diad style trading will definately work here if we are going to swing trade and depending on the scenarios above we can set it accordingly. Anyway, I will not be able to get this out as soon as I hoped. I will have to test this properly myself. If anyone interested in this method of trading, feel free to start tests yourself based on the above ideas. Cheers Leon |

Hi Leon, thanks for your setfile and thanks to Steve's setfile too. I tempted to test this Pivots EA months ago but due to my PC's CPU limitation, I dropped, as you said, be patient and patient, 1) Let's say there are 7 pairs in the DB list, once I set AutomatedChartOpeningAndClosing = True, the DB EA will open 7 charts, but only 3 charts with pending orders, the remaining 4 pairs do not have pending orders. Shall I manually close these 4 charts and retain the 3 charts with pending orders ? 2) I started to test in Tokyo session, two pairs are in floating losses after a few hours as the market direction goes against the pivots trend and into "Ranging" situation. What will you do (presuming the charts do see next resistant / support levels) ? a) Manually close the 2 pairs' charts' trades at loss ? b) Let the chart open, hopefully the market will come back to the Pivots direction ? c) If the market carries on moving at opposite Pivots' direction and let the open trades hit the SL ? d) Just wait the EA TradeClosureHour = 18 ? Thanks bud. |

Hi Btiger Yes I close the 4 charts if my pendings are not filled early in the London session. The remaining 3 pairs I will let it run 3 to 4 hours or so into london session and clear pendings if no orders were filled and reload the dash with the open of New york. It is different if I have pendings filled. I will determine my basket profit 4 hours into the session and close if I have a reasonable profit. I always take into consideration that there may be a retrace before the open of New york. It is a discretionary thing. The idea for me is to have fresh pendings sent with New york. In answer to your a to d questions. I usually step in before pivot s/losses are hit but have had pivot stoplosses taken out quite a few times. It is better to take the loss. The last week has not been a good week and I am basically at b/even for the month of May. When the ea gets the direction right profits do come in quickly. Still early days and I will not let this deter me. It has not been the easiest trading lately. We could be going through a transition period in trend direction and not an easy time for any trend Ea. Hope I have answered your questions Cheers Leon |

I'm seeking your trading experience opinion on this. Presuming a pair is long and there are 3 limits at bottom and 3 stops at top, would it be better or advisable if I manually move the pivots' SL level to 15 to 20 pips below the lowest limit order ? I personally find that :- 1) the PivotStopLossPips=100 is very far 2) if the market can break through the pivots' SL level to 15 to 20 pips below the lowest limit order, most likely is a breakout and likely the trend is a confirmed downtrend or reversal. The above scenario is vice versa to short positions. Thanks |

Btiger, By all means if your limit or stop orders are filled move your stop to support 3 for a buy and res 3 for a sell. Bare in mind, I am trading 4 hour pivots and because the Ea is setting your s/loss at support or res 3 the s/loss could be too close to market and you will get many attemps before you pending and s/loss is filled. Also a reason why we trade low spread pairs. It is for this reason that I set my s/loss to 100 pips. A break of S3 or res3 does not neccesarily mean a change in trend direction more so on the 4hr time frame, but yes the correct thing would be to close your trade as soon as these have been broken. 100 Pips s/loss have served me well since I started the Ea but by all means change it to 50 pips or the default of 0 which will set your s/loss at sup 3 or res 3. Failing all this it is better to go onto Steve's set file where you should not have a problem with limit and stop orders and s/loss being set by the Ea, because of the greater distance between pivot lines. I also notice that you run Tokyo trades into London, maybe not such a good idea because markets tend to reverse in London especially with shorter timeframe pivots in mind. Pivots do reset themselves at the close of every 4 hour candle. Something to be aware of. Cheers Leon |

OK, I take your advice as you're the pivots expert. Thanks. Today is my 1st day of testing this Pivot Per day has 4 trading sessions, if I trade 2 sessions, you mean I need to "clear stocks" prior to next session (except those trades that with decent profit as what you mentioned in earlier posts) ? Thanks On the other question, if all the open trades are closed for hitting TP, there are yet with pending orders not executed, what you would do ? manually remove the pending orders ? |
