Non.

:D

Out of curiosity, here is what I typed in to be translated:
"I can only sympathise. Typing this little lot into Google takes long enough. I would not be able to cope were I contributing to an French language thread. We are all grateful for the efforts you make on our behalf. I hope the Google translation is not too horrible."

How close do you reckon the translation is?

A brief interjection into the entertainment here (no, that is not a 'barbed' comment, promise), has everyone been following the Shelley/ShelleyJen threads?

The reason I ask is this: if we load Baluda onto our chart and he quickly fires a trade, we risk jumping late into a market move. Maybe we need to wait for a retrace before taking the trade as measured by Jem?

Just a thought.

How close do you reckon the translation is? -> it's very good !

Steve,

I very humbly think that you are right. I actually posted on this regarding Shelley a little while ago. The idea was that it is better to catch the trend at the start of the move rather than near the end which is a bit like what is happening at the mo with GBP/JPY or GBP/USD.

The following graph shows an example of what I mean using Baluda EA (this being really reproductable based on a few hours of visual backtesting accross several pairs).

Basically, you enter whenever the absolute value of the difference between two currency slope strength raises above 0.8 (funnily this value seems to work quite well ;) ) i.e. the previous or "x" previous values would have been less than 0.8 so that "the absolute value of the difference" is increasing and not decreasing. You exit whenever this value falls under 0.8.

I hope it makes sense.

Actually, in order to increase the number of potential trades, I would rephrase the following:

"the previous or "x" previous values would have been less than 0.8 so that "the absolute value of the difference" is increasing and not decreasing." into:

"the previous or "x" previous values should be lower than the current (candle open?) absolute value of the difference between currency slope strength so that "the absolute value of the difference" is increasing and not decreasing."

Zypip, sorry I don't completely understand what you are saying but this is what we have with 10.2:

1. Entries on retraces using the 5.1 MA
2. How long to stay in a trend.

The one thing it is missing is letting us know when the (short term) trend turns around. It's the period inbetween a strong trend down and a turnaround to a strong trend up that is catching a few of us out.

If you can find a way for pinpointing the turn around then I'm all eyes/ears.

Hi Jemook and thank you for taking the time to consider my posts. really appreciated considering you already have a lot of work developping the new SJ system.

Sorry for not being clear. I realise that my comments were specific to Beluda only which (I believe) do not use the 5.1 MA to enter. So regarding Beluda's EA, I was just trying to avoid the disappointments araising from jumping in too late into the trend. I could see that the French community (which I am part of by the way ;) ) was getting a bit frustrated with this system because trades were all in the negative at the mo.

So what I was (humbly) proposing is for the EA to enter a trade whenever the distance between 2 slope strength lines is greater than 0.8 and rising (not decreasing). I thought the pic attached in my earlier post was explicit enough but I guess this was only happening in my head

Here is a simple example:

Say that the slope strengh for JPY (using Beluda calculation of course) is +0.70 and the slope strength for GBP is say -0.10. The absolute difference in value between the 2 is +0.80 (+0.70 minus -0.10) so that this pair becomes tradable.

Then say that slope strength for JPY was also +0.70 yesterday and slope strength for GBP was +0.10 so that the absolute difference was 0.60 (+0.70 minus +0.10), the gap between slope strength is therefore increasing so that the EA should enter a trade.

Conversely, say that slope strength for JPY was also +0.70 yesterday and slope strength for GBP was -0.20 so that the absolute difference was 0.90 (+0.70 minus -0.20), the gap between slope strength is therefore decreasing so that the EA should NOT enter a trade.

I keep telling myself that this is a reasonable good idea but if you more experienced traders/coders think is not, then I will of course stand down and go quietly :D

Cheers,

Zypip

Makes an awful lot of sense to me Zypip

There is one thing I would say is that defining the timeframe we look at (or better still the timeframes we look at) for divergence would be very beneficial too. So for ranging markets you could look at smaller TP but lower timeframe - say H4 AND H1 slopes being divergent and for more trending markets D1 and H4 slopes being divergent?

I guess you could actually have D1 slope >0.8 or <-0.8 for the first criteria to be valid and first AdaptiveTP1 to be used and between 0.4 and 0.8/-0.8 and -0.4 for the second criteria and AdaptiveTP2 to be used. Although that might be too complicated to code - maybe better have one EA with 2 (or more) set files on 2 (or more) charts.
