Nope. I am firmly stuck in the middle of two sets of trades miles apart. I don't see this situation ever changing. We know how brilliant Goldy is when the market cooperates. Let's see if she can sort out the mess. |

Sounds something like this? Possible to manually add some trades in the middle range to help out? Just a thought. |

Exactly like this only far, far worse here. I am writing this at just shy of 1.00 and am going to bed. Later on today I will post the stop order manager that I coded to do all this manually and that eventually led to Goldy. It will facilitate your idea. |

Thanks for your efforts. This ea can be very profitable if we can just corral it! |

The 'Stop order manager' EA is in post 1. Everything here stems from my experiments a few months ago. I would wait for XAUUSD to make a strong move in one direction. This is often followed by an equally strong move in the opposite direction so I would be looking to take advantage of this opposite direction. For example, following a 'Rocket Rise' event I would place a grid of sell stops. I would delete these stop orders and replace them higher up if the market continued to rise. There would always be a savage breakout following a ranging period. I would place stop orders on both buy and sell sides during a range. I used my scripts for all this placing and deleting stop orders and it occurred to me that this would be easier with an EA that responded to button clicks, so I coded the manager. Have a play with it to get used to how it works. The manager responds to every button click with a window prompting you for confirmation of the actions required, so you cannot bugger things up unless you try really hard. Goldy will regard the manager's trades as her own so long as you use the same magic number for both, so I am hoping for additional offsetting opportunities through using the manager. Let's try out the manager and see if we can trade our way out of the huge gap that has opened up between the two groups. This will not apply to you if you were lucky with your timing starting Goldy and she has been raking in the profits. She is fantastic when this happens. The market cooperated beautifully when I coded Goldy. Here is a thought; had I coded and launched her in the current uncooperative market, she would not have seen the light of day. On with the testing. |

One observation: The most successful moments for goldy to act is when the volatility of the market goes firmly to one direction within one time frame. Say one M15 candles, if the forces and going in one direction within the timeframe, instead of bouncing around, goldy is more effective. Speaking in this sense, pacific markets and us market time is way more suitable for goldy than London market, I notice for over several weeks when London market opened goldy will inevitably get caught in a multi-open-trade situation where multiple buy and sell orders were hedged in a very tight distance. Goldy got trapped, making it much more difficult to resolve through even with offsetting mechanism. Therefore I would suggest to avoid the trading time from when London market is open to the beginning of US market, then goldy can have the chance of avoiding the traps and resolve the best she can. I have set my trading time to avoid 0900-1400 GMT, will test how it goes. Thanks Steve for creating goldy, really enjoyed playing! Best, Ice |

Thanks for a thoughtful contribution, Ice. It would be great if you have found the final piece of the jigsaw. Please do keep us all in touch with your experiment. |
