Thanks for sharing again Bob - nice and simple. Interesting to note also that a convergence of the 3 pivots often leads up to a change in market conditions such as a reverse of direction, entering a ranging phase or breaking out of range into a trend. Will be keeping an eye on these.

Thank you for all your efforts, keep the pips in the green!

Regards, Paul.

I think the problem with everyone is deciding to cut loss and take profit after the order is filled. Entry is very simple now that bob gives few examples, I guess even new trader will be able to understand why the trade was taken. The hard part is when will we decide to multilevel/recover trade or just cut the losses. That is the main different between the pro and newbies like me. Maybe could start a thread on how to manage the trade after entry.
For me the entry is pretty CLEAR and SIMPLE and NB couldn;t possibly make it simpler. It is time to learn the management from here on (am I getting ahead here? LOL).
I hope steve,Nb,Jemook, etc won't mind sharing their thoughts on this as we can see this is the part where traders struggle with.

Regards ~

You are right. The key to taking profit really depends on what kind of trader you are. I simply play the odds and this is what I find happens most of the time in Forex. Unless I know there is a strong fundamental working on the currency. For example last fall's Euro run and the now run on the AUD.

1. I will take my profits fairly quickly. The reason is over 70% of the time price is going to range. What that means is it will only go so far and then retreat. Profits will be 20-60 pips on the norm. The last time I checked which was last spring, my average profit on a trade was just under 40 pips. The vast majority of trades will stop at R1/S1. So I will just take them, look for the retrace and take another trade the next day. In trading circles you could call that being a singles hitter. Risk to reward ration means very little to me. Will I let trades run longer than that? Yes I will if I know there is a strong fundamental working on the currency pair. The Aud right now is having a strong fundamental that will last a couple of days to a week or more. So most of my pips are being made there.
2. I take my profits more on time of day than position on the S/R lines. 3-4 hours into a session seems to be the high point of a move during a trading session. I take them and look for a retrace to reenter the next session or next day. So the trade enters, runs up during a session, I come back 3 hours later and ta da profit. Do I sometimes lose out on a bigger move? Yes but most of the time it will retrace and be done. I have been trading the aud and nzd pairs almost exclusively for the last 3-4 months that way. I know they cant go much higher because of the economic slowdown so I dont have to worry about price running way up on me. (They are both way over bought) I use low leverage so I dont have to worry about swap costs. So it is just a matter of keeping those sells going after every retrace. 18 trades on all the aud & nzd cross pairs so far this week and 14 have been for profit. None of the trades went over 50 pip profit. I quit selling when price reached S2 levels. The chances of price going to S3 is really rare even though aud/chf made it there. The other auds made it to S2 and nzd were weak with only one making it to S1.

So that is what I mean by playing the odds. S1 is a good thing almost all the time. S2 if a strong fundamental is at play. S3 or more if price is just collapsing for some reason. 3-4 hours into a trading session will usually give you the max pips on the move. Aud Nzd can also move during their sessions. So that is how I profit.

Hi Bob. I noticed on your EURUSD chart that you placed your order quite a distance above the daily pivot - presumably to ensure a definite break of the pivot.

What sort of distance above /below the daily pivot would you suggest is used?

Thanks,

Rob

@NB Glad to read your long explanation :) thank you.

By sessions you mean london or US and not aus session right? I also find AUD, NZD movement are more independent compared to EU and GU (especially GU) there are lots of thing that come in play with EUR and GBP. Do you think the same too?
Since I am not experienced with multilevel trade I will just put my SL on the nearest S/R swing and if possible as far as weekly pivot line like you said at your first post (depends on Weekly Pivot position).

I hope other will share their trades too (with SL and TP) so we can all learn to be a better trader ;)

It depends. On the Euro trade I tried to put it just above the other candle highs. It didnt work though as price jumped up, took the trade and came back down again. Sitting at -20 and wondering if I should stay or leave.

Chf/jpy was nice trade of 30+ pips. Kind of a dud day outside of some Aud trades. Today's trade example is the aud/nzd. This is how you reenter a trend. Price moved south and now has retraced. Hoping the trend will continue so placed a sell stop just below the pivot line.

Other than that a pretty stagnate day. Not much to look at since prices are just ranging. USD/CHF has some possibilities but not taking that one either. Changed my mind, I lowered my lot size to about half of what I normally use and put a pending order sell on the usd/chf. When I take less desirable trades I will lower my lot size and take a shot once in a while.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for a truly amazing methodology/system. I have been trading live with it & I often run back to your 10.1 version to look at the H4 OrangeRed Dots on a H1 & H4 chart. I do flip back & forth between H4 & H1 to look at where PA is/what it is doing. Now, I flip back & forth between this latest 10.2a & 10.1.

I do this because there are (quite often) times, PA just wouldn't move beyond a certain point (besides pivots) & retreat. When I switch to 10.1, I can see PA is resisting at the H4 OrangeRed dots. While with 10.2a, I can guess where the H4 OrangeRed dots are but 10.1 provides this clarity. When market is ranging, just by trading S/R with those dots, can produce some good results. However, with major economic events, PA would jump past those dots. Hence, my usage is not a strict rule but situational & it depends on economic events or fundamentals.

I may sometimes close a position too early when PA jumps past the dots. But at least I know I took profit & can open another trade to continue with the trend if I wanted to. Now, I determine this re-entry by using this latest 10.2a version but if re-entry is near the H4 OrangeRed dots, I'll know not to expect too many pips to TP -- especially with the absence of any major economic events/fundamentals for that pair.

As for now, I'm truly grateful for 10.x and learning from you & all the folks here :)

Holy shoots! I just realized I could "marry" 10.2a & those 10.1 H4 OrangeRed S/R dots.

No more flipping back & forth between 10.1 & 10.2a :D
