Dream on. They haven't got this stuff right since Windows 95. What makes you think they will suddenly start doing so now?
Hehe, perhaps the fact that every second release, Microsoft generally attempts to fix the mess caused by its previous consumer OS. E.g. Win98 was crap after 95. 98SE fixed that. ME was crap after 98SE, XP fixed that. Vista was crap after XP, Win7 fixed that. Win8 was crap after 7, so now I'm HOPING that Win10 manages at least some redemption.

Thanks for the exhaustive testing and Tomasso for improving HGI to become HGI v15.06.
Also thanks to Pedro for sharing Hurst as a filter, it's awesome, almost flawless. Been testing it for the week.

No. IgnoreFuture must be False. If True, then HGI would be using TrueTma which doesn´t work well.

Post subject:  HGI via iCustom is Much Better Now
I have started writing an EA to attempt to automate HGI, doing things differently from how Steve does them with HGB. I will post it to this forum when it is running, which will no doubt be many weeks hence.

Since we do not have access to HGI source code, an EA must make iCustom() calls to use HGI, as HGB does.

I was concerned about the efficiency of those calls, especially given what Steve had to say in 2012 here http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... ?f=8&t=494

So I ran some tests, and am pleased to report that these days Empty4 (Build 752) does a very much better job than when Steve wrote his warning about iCustom() use.

I found that if iCustom() call parameters apart from the buffer and shift ones are not changed from one call to the next, as they not when calling HGI thanks to the iCustom input, then:

• HGI is loaded only once, and is NOT unloaded after every call as Steve reported used to be the case

• HGI's start()/OnCalculate() runs only ONCE for multiple iCustom() calls to obtain different buffer values

which is good. So, with current builds of Empty4, making iCustom() calls is relatively efficient. Certainly it is far better than used to be the case as described by Steve.

By way of interest, I also tested what happens if iCustom() calls are made to the same indicator with different parameters values. (Not needed for HGI.)

That also is much better, and the indicator is loaded just once for each different set of parameter values. Each instance of the indicator runs its start()/Oncalculate() just once, no matter how many iCustom() calls are made to obtain different buffer values. Great!

So, this is an area where things have improved, and improved a lot, from how they used to be as described by Steve.

Totally agree that Hurst is a very nice addition to understanding when Price movement is over extended. I have incorporated it into all my templates. On the lower time periods along with Bollinger Bands it can be quite useful also. A very nice contribution by Pedro.

Great Job Tommaso on the new 15.06 HGI indicator... Really looks nice.

Thanks alorente for your contribution in sorting some of these issues out with the indicator.
