Hi Jim,

Just wondering, did you change the number of bars in the setting of the indi to 1682 (or what ever is used in PoS)?
Hey Gertje,

Fantastic, After you said I was missing history. I started looking at the 6th indi parameters. After changing the Barcount I now see the same value that you have.

Do you change the MarketDistancePips parameter for the different sets. As above I only see the 100, 150 and 200. On FXTestify I can only see one of your set files. Which is the 150 value.

There should be 4: 50, 100, 150 and 200.

I'll try to recover my thinking proces of that time. :smile:

The attached indi shows the 6th-distance in print in the left upper corner of the chart.
Maybe some other text is covering this, just put it on a fresh chart to see.
I made a list of all 28 pairs I'm trading [all major crosses, no exotic stuff], and wrote behind the name of the pair their 6th-distance.
Just with pen and paper, nothing fancy. I threw it away afterwards.

Then I just sorted these by what seemed logical groups, first 3 groups;
0 < 250
250 < 350
350 > up
Later I split the first group once more;
0 < 150
150 < 250

Then I figured what would be a sensible dollup for each group, and I wondered if 6th-distance = 1% would suffice. Knowing that dollup 0.01/$1.000 gives appr. 1% balance increase for every 100 pips profit, I pulled out my calculator and worked my way through the numbers.
150 pips 6th-distance gives 1% with dollup 0.01/1.500
250 pips 6th-distance gives 1% with dollup 0.01/2.500
350 pips 6th-distance gives 1% with dollup 0.01/3.500
And so on.
My goal was to have each pair attribute as much to the grand total, but also limit DD.

I setteld with dollup;
0 < 150 dollup 0.01/1.600
150 < 250 dollup 0.01/2.500
250 < 350 dollup 0.01/3.333
350 > dollup 0.01/5.000

I have the lotsizing set depending on balance instead of equity, so every recovery trade is at least the size of the original trade, and sometimes bigger after another pair made it to TP in the mean time. This makes sure that with 4 trades or more running, the basket is closed with profit.

Now and then you will notice that a pair in-/decreases it's 6th-distance due to history running "of the chart".
If I notice this, I move the pair to another setfile if no trades are open. If trades are running I let it work out and move it afterwards.

Hope this helps,
Gertjan

Why not adding to EA the option to shift the pairs according their current MDP, instead of doing it manually?

The current version does this.
I use a previous version.

Small contribution for this thread - I wrote a little EA that runs in separate chart (set background to ALL BLACK template), which shows 6th distance in pips for each pair - 28 majors only

Parameters self-explanatory:

1. Timeframe to calculate the 6th distance (defaults to H4)
2. Number of bars to calculate the 6th (defaults to 1682)

Also writes out Global Variables for each of the symbols, can be read by other EA, such as PoS for example

Anybody else finding this?
This was me, as no one has directly replied I thought I will :smile:

I assure you I am not just some idiot who cannot use an EA :lol:
You can see from the couple of posts above that some others are also having issues with recovery trades not working, Gertje himself even mentioned this in the past

Not to be an ass, but is it possible to add the testing stuff to the version i’m currently using; 1e?
I never got the fill the gap/ recovery working on the later versions, and to be honest, didn’t push hard because I was happy with 1e.
Hope this makes it worth your time to have a look into it, as I think the automated sixth distance separating and need for only one Instance of POS instead of the 3 currently needed will make the finishing touches to a great EA
Thanks,
Tom

V 1j is in post 1.

tgm0 wrote to me pointing out that there were three lines of code missing, so I have added them. I cannot see that they will make any difference to the Recovery thingy.

I have run 1e and 1i through a difference checker and can see nothing either to prevent gap-filling trades to be sent or for Recovery to take place. If 1e was doing this properly, then so should 1i/j.

For those of you liking DIY, go to the top of the file and do a search for "UseRecovery[tfTotal]". This will take you to this line of code:
UseRecovery[tfTotal] = Trade1UseRecovery;

Directly underneath is this line:
TradesToConstituteRecovery[tfTotal] = Trade1TradesToConstituteRecovery;

Repeat the search to take you into the TF2 code block. You will see that the equivalent line is missing, so insert this directly underneath:
TradesToConstituteRecovery[tfTotal] = Trade2TradesToConstituteRecovery;

Repeat the search and insert:
TradesToConstituteRecovery[tfTotal] = Trade3TradesToConstituteRecovery;

Repeat the search and insert:
TradesToConstituteRecovery[tfTotal] = Trade4TradesToConstituteRecovery;

I just love this.
Manipulation at it’s best, and PoS takes full advantage of it.

1. “They”spike it down to shake down the weak out of the tree.
2. On some BS news (slightly negative for NZD!) the pairs skyrockets, abling PoS to close the basket for a nearly 2% profit.
3. The market withdraws, and PoS jumps right into it again with a new original trade.

And the best part: it’s happening while I’m on holiday in France!!! :jump:
