Hi fellas. Back to the forex markets after losing my shirt last I traded 2 years back. :oops:

The first place I thought of looking was SHF and Bob's 10.4 - back to basics kinda stuff and behold: HGI and the HOLY GRAIL

My warmest thanks to all those involved in "the" magical indi and this EA, especially Bob for the strategy, Steve for maintaining this forum (I missed his tempers and sarcasm ;) ) as well as the coders and brainstormers out here for making all this happen.

An observation regarding MM for our wonderful Rad trades:

In last two days on my H4 demo I have been studying Rad trades/pending entries and multi-order set up. Overall hundreds of profit pips have been showing up with the likes of GBPJPY and others. Profit making is not the issue, it will nail anything that is moving. BUT I am interested in MM and the loosers. In the last two days I have had two loosers to look at coming from reversals with AUDNZD and NZDUSD. Their net losses per pair were - 57 and -61 pips. This is with no MM other than close trades on reverse signals set to true. In other words letting HGB have her head with HGI signals. The best position these two trades got to were +94 pips and + 86 pips respectfully, for the pair baskets as it were. So yes some pips were left on the table, but we stayed in the market until 'hope was lost' for this trade withe HGI counter signal appearing. What is the value of staying in the market, well hard to quantify but for some of the other pairs staying in there was very profitable as retraces are part of the game. Overall in the 1000 or so pips of profit these two losses are not very scary really.

Is this a case of keep it simple stupid. I have been racking my brain looking at all the traditional BE and JS options etc and I am not sure I can improve on what HGB does with just the HGI signals. I am sure I am capable of screwing up good trades with MM ideas imposed on these trades.

So would love to hear some informed discussion on this as I see the RAD trades and letting HGB stay in the market and do her thing as the key to running this with my money at stake.

To all the rest of you wanting additional filters/sl features/tp features/toast in the morning features, get a grip on yourselves and stop being so bloody silly.

Let HGB do his thingy and see what works and what doesn't. That is not a plea. It is an instruction. You will let HGB do his thingy and see what works and what doesn't. Guess how I know.

In case doubt/stupidity/inexperience of me/loss-of-memory causes to wonder how I know, it is because I am the PCA here and what I say goes.

Trading 0.01 lots on a $100000 demo. Floating dd -981 pips.

Ok guys, here is a situation to avoid.

Study this picture:

If you look closely at the spread display (you might have to zoom in a lot), you will see a "Widest since loading" of 68.3 compared to the average of 9.4.

If you look closely at that final candle, you can see the long spike tail down.

Here is what happened:
  • earlier today, I closed that final basket of trades to lock in a further 300 pips to make it just over 1600 pips since trading opened after the weekend.
  • HGB dutifully shut down for the day, to avoid re-entering the market just in time to be hit by the customary retrace - early users of HGB are well and truly familiar with this scenario.
  • this is a Global Prime demo account. GP wakes up at the start of the true trading day - Sydney opening at 22.00 London time, so HGB awoke, saw a fair few trading opportunities and sent the usual list of pending trades.
Those GNZD trades ran straight into that downward, spread-inspired spike and were filled. None of the tp's were hit because the spike was too wide. So, now I am left with those open GNZD at a combined DD of c.321 pips. Will be interesting to see what happens to those.

There are two points behind this:
1) Use the trading times inputs to avoid trading the first 10 minutes or so after Sydney wakes up - work out the time for yourself and do not ask about it here if you value your membership.
2) To attract Jem's attention here for his comment about the stunning spread widening.

Hey Steve,

With that spread spike the hour after market open (rollover) is the worst hour to be trading in the day, the banks are resetting, spikes can be thrown due to lack of liquidity etc. I personally try not to trade around that time just in case. It's the same for Monday market open and the half an hour or so before Friday close.

Whenever we see a suspicious spike we check other Aussie brokers Empty4 feeds to see if it's the same there, if it is then it's likely a real market movement. In this case it was on the other brokers so it was a real market move.

Some brokers have a max spread setting to make it seem like their max spread doesn't go above X pips, with us we keep everything as is apart from a 150 pip spread filter which stops the pricing if the spread is above 150 pips as something may be wrong. We are then alerted and go check what the story is.

All, beause I wanted to test is to extreme. No limit on the numbers of trades.
Or Cash or percentage take profit..
Just letting this thingy work as clean as it can be. Just the way I test these thingys to see what I can work with.
It made me spot a couple of bloobs, find sets that won't and will work. ;)
Reason I started to look into this code, because I wanted to get rid of the losing trades with a 0 second duration.

Since, I've done also a bit of work on this thing, I am getting requests for Filters, Features, support reqeusts and stuff.
Well, I could not be bothered. :lol:
Aint planning to do much more work on this thingy.
Unless its critical, easy or combination of both.
As much effort is put into the development of current HGB, it still contains some errors, bloops, and design flaws. Just yesterday I saw a screenshot, which made me realize a design flaw, which has been overseen by many..
I already said to much.. As I don't want to wake the sleeping dogs.

All that in Place, This thingy is in the green!!!! :!!: :!!: :!!:

I See this current bot, as a very good, "proof of concept". And one which I would dare to take on a live account. With its current limitations and shortcomings. (I am a perfectionist sometimes)
But making changes in the code of this thingy, is not an easy job, and sometimes more likely to break things then improve.

Crating the tool, I would like to have for myself.
Since some of the code is coming from here, I am happy to share collabrate, with those who are interested in it.
To me, this new procject is the successor of the HGB.
Combining, experience from the users from here, my experience as a IA programmer.
And new capabilitys of MQL4 code.
There is also some really good code to be found in this forum.
Only challenge is to find it, and put it all together.
Piece by piece this new project is getting realized, looking very promising.
But it's a Huge project.


Meantime, work with what we have..
There are already so many things to play with, and data to analyze.
I appreciate all the feedback, but would be great if we could combine our efforts,
and put together a list of features with PROOF which are worthwhile to look into and to develop.
Yes, I would like to put the icing on the cake!! Of this already great system. :yahoo:
