EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

Folks, remove discussion about programmatically adding thingies to another thread. This thread is about HGBnG as is. I will take notice of you when you have done it and proven it has added value.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V 1y is in post 1.

RnR and HGB are linked in my mind at the mo, as I am trying to implement offsetting. I have probably gone about it in the wrong way. Remon's simulator plots events int $1 increments. I assumed that a pips implementation of this would work equally well. It seems not.

The problem I was having was that, say, the highest of a group of buy trades would fall by DistanceBetweenTradesPips and that closing it and the lowest of the buys would result in profit. It rarely did. I tell you guys, there is blood on my walls. :arrrg:

Tonight I came up with the idea of not closing the pair unless they are in profit. RnR is now happily closing the trades only when to do so will result in profit. I have transferred this code across to HGBnG.

I have the latest version on my live account, but I wrote most of it and know the harm it can do. I suggest you guys stick to offsetting on demo only for now.

Implemented so far is only the simple offsetting of the highest and lowest of an unhedged pair. Opposite-sides of a hedged position has to come later. Getting what we already have has proven a total bastard and I need to recover some strength.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Wavegarrick posted on the "hello" thread a way of trading the HGI;
http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 18#p138975
Is there any way with the current options to trade HGBnG this way?

I looked into the moving average options, but they all seem to trade with the MA's direction, where Wavegarrick trades against the MA's direction.

No. Nor is there going to be.

No. Nor is there going to be unless you prove it works.

Hi
Recently posted a significant account growth graph since Feb and added to that over last 2 days, banked +20% on demo account & +13% on live acc. mostly with HGBnG OOTB vQ which is doing extraordinarily well.

Attached is small EA (like mini MPTM) may be useful tool for some, assisting solid growth with HGBnG. Manages all pairs (if magicNumber =0), runs on any chart.

1. Daily target (default start +4%), when reached, closes all open +ve trades
Options
- CloseOverAllDay - True(default) counts all trades in server day, not just open (equity) ones.
- CloseInProfitOnly - True(default) False will close every open trade instead, but there is a better method.
- CloseOnGainAmt or CloseOnGainPercent(default). [CloseOnGainPips was remarked out as not useful.]
- CloseLossAmt or CloseLossPercent(default -20%) close everything shirt protection, which I recently increased to cope with DD, but not always a good idea.

2. When target is reached in any given day, it increments +0.5% so that open trades have a new target.
CloseOnTimeFrame - 1440(default) resets the target % to default at start of each period.
(Target may not hit for a week or so then everything explodes. Hit 4%, 3 days in a row & 2016-04-21 saw this increment from 4.0% up to 9.5% as big moves triggered further stop orders. Many were then closed in gain & account keeps growing.)

3. Option - 'use_SL_BE' moves any Stoploss to BE+spread when the Gain(pip) is > SL (pips). Not really used with HGBnG.

4. *** At certain times (ie weekends or after large gains), close EVERYTHING incl. all pendings. With growth rates like this, a clean slate is easier to live with than large HGBnG DD.
Like pruning, last 2 months found high growth after each 'close everything'.

Continually banking +ve trades cuts across 'running trades' I know but account grows & this alleviates lots of filters, traps & efforts to arrest trade reversals. Since using this system with HGBnG, live account has grown average +2% / day compounding. Very pleased, not looking for changes!

regards
Paul

Errata : corrected 'No Error alert' - appears sometimes if SL_BE is turned off, which I never do. PB

Some versions of HGBnG remove SL & EA wanted to put them back, so now can be turned off OK - hopefully. If problematic will remove BE altogether.

Well done Paul. Seems like your squeezing every last drop out of HGBnG

Sorry to be that guy but someone is going to ask and because we're awake while everyone else is still snoozing it may as well be me  ...are you still running all 28 standard pairs? Or have you found over the past few months that some pairs are more hassle than they are worth?

I had to drop most of the kiwi pairs from my hands free demos. They are good for GW but are too much of a dogs breakfast for the more refined HGBnG.

I should be able to see your house tomorrow. Flying off to Sydney first thing in the morning for a few days away from the lab.

Cheers,
BobbyT

Currently on 16 pairs (+ dare I say, XAUUSD & XAGUSD - both profitable - this month!). At present NZDUSD is bottom of the pivot table - in loss.
I take the 'dollar-cost-averaging' approach. Problem with picking & choosing pairs, which we see all the time, is that any particular pair will be or not profitable at any given time, same as most investing.
What might lose one week/month, can be the next winner. eg Steve experienced Thursday as a reversal day with poor results, whereas I found it best day of week (currently pipped by Tuesday).
Similarly for any combination of pairs & commencement times, depends on external events, so we just want our system to be profitable on average over the long term.
I have run HGBnG for >2 months & is 3x my manual trading, so looking to maintain rather than fine tune to a point of losing original concept - which happens because folks always want a fix for "today's weakness".

Note : errata in EA (prev. post) to avert 'No Error' alert when 'use_SL_BE' is turned off. I leave on.

regards
Paul
