Tech question - does MADDY pass across complete signals to MaDTrader, e.g. buy EURUSD, or does MADDY just tell MaDTrader e.g. EUR is strong, AUD is strong, USD is weak etc etc and MaDTrader decides what to trade ?

My reason for asking is exactly what I just described - if MADDY can see (e.g.) three strong currencies and two weak currencies what decides how the currencies will be paired for trading ?

Also does anyone have a myfxbook / fxblue test of WaveGarrick's single ma 5 Tframes / 15 min stochs combo I could have a look at ? My test was started on 5 May, on the 6th it took a USDCHF trade (which is up 128 pips at the moment 8-) ) but nothing since - I'm a big fan of cherry picking high probability trades rather than spamming possibilities and hoping, but 1 trade in 2 weeks ? My test is --> here <--.

Thanks

The latter is the case.

That is the reason for MADTrader to have all these entry rules. MADTrader will create all combinations of STRONG/WEAK currency pairs, and apply the selected entry rule to these pairs, in order to go ahead with the trade or not.

You would have known this, if you had read the user manual.

Thank you Renexxxx, that is the bit that wasn't clear.

Rene,

If I would have a "not included in strength test" would Maddy still look for just crossovers of MA's?

Steely it is clear that you have not read the manual or anything posted previously.

Nevertheless the answer is No.

Also read this from page 20. Take note Rene has since seperated Madtrader from Maddy but the conditions still remain the same on Maddy and only then will Madtrader Ea look for a trade..
Condition1:
Timeframe1: 5 min t/frame...Lets say you are using your Ma cross as a filter and u are using 21/60lwma as you combination, and 21 has crossed below 60 it means you have a sell trade in hand.
You have included this time frame in the currency strength test...lets say u have set it to 4 which is the minimum... the ea would have to see at least 4 down arrows in the 5 min column for the symbol to meet the criteria of condition 1 to open a trade....if no 4 arrows no trade no matter how far 21 has crossed below 60.

Condition2:
Timeframe2: 15 min t/frame exactly the same conditions as above that is if you have included it in the currency strength test,,,it will only use this t/frame as a condition if u have specified it in the currency strength test..

If you have not specified time frame 3 to7 in the currency strength test it will not use any of these t/frames as a condition to open the trade.

Condition3:
Use Ma filter: if u set this to true you have specified it as a trading condition...works in candle closes...If you have specified 21lwma as your filter - time frame 1(5 min candle) 21ma must be below the 21 Ma on the 15 min time frame in order for your trade condition three to be met for a sell trade....so bearing in mind if you use this filter it could seem that the trade is entered late...but it is an extra measure to test currency strength..

Sorry guys not finished with the post and submitted by accident:

Condition4:

Trade parameters: I prefer to set this to slower Ma cross to get the full benefit of entering a trade in the direction of the medium term trend. If I have set my trade parameters to 5 min it will only open a trade at the close of the 5 min candle only if the above conditions have been met and in addition we have an extra filter here with the slow Ma and fast Ma and if we use this filter cleverly we can get into good trades.

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know, I am still fully immersed in testing Maddy and Madtrader. The grind continues, but testing every possible scenario in every option available on Madtrader as well as all currency pairs. The idea here is for me to eliminate currency pairs and combinations that are not performing so well over a period of time.

I hope in time to give you an update as to where I stand and what I am testing. So far looking positive :)

In the meantime would be nice to see results and tests from traders here.

Morning all, I'm testing with Wavegarrick's "Maddy v 1.7 single ma 5 Tframes" and "Mad Trader 1 hour stochs" set files unchanged apart from the excluded extensions and the lot size per ATR dropped from a mini to a micro.

I've only ever had 1 trade, opened nearly 2 weeks ago and still going strong.

Colour me stupid, I think I've finally figured out why - the stochs are OB/OS to the wrong side . Both logic and a quick run through the MaDTrader code (I think) say I need the stochs to be OS to trigger a long trade and OB to trigger a short trade. I've only been looking at whether they were in the middle or not. Derrr ... Am I right ?

Is anyone else testing this combination and has had similar results ?

Thanks
G.

Hi Ceeg,

I am getting on average between 2 and 4 trades per day with buy and sell trades. The trades are also opening correctly......buy in the o/sold zone 30 and sell in the o/bought zone 70 with my stochastics signal line crossing over the main line.

Another thing is, have you shortened you Maddy lookback period?, because if you have you will get fewer trades.

Also,
I have changed the mode from SMA,0 to LWMA,1 on line 359 and 360. I feel more comfortable with these stochastics settings on madtrader v1.1

Line 359 - stoch0 = iStochastic( symbolName, StochTimeFrame, StochKPeriod, StochDPeriod, StochSlowing, MODE_LWMA, 1, MODE_MAIN, 0 );
Line 360 - stoch1 = iStochastic( symbolName, StochTimeFrame, StochKPeriod, StochDPeriod, StochSlowing, MODE_LWMA, 1, MODE_MAIN, 1 );

Unless I have overlooked something maybe someone else will be able to help you. You sure will get enough trades on mad trader. Sometimes I shorten the lookback period to simmer down the Ea :)

Thanks Leon, I've applied the set files again completely vanilla apart from the extensions, the lookback period is still 10800, and I've made the changes to the EA - hopefully the London / New York sessions coming up will give some more trades :)

Do you let MaDTrader exit your trades or do you use MPTM ? I spotted a comment from you that you were using Bazze's MPTM set file :)

Sorry to pester you but as someone giving a seminar once said, "if you want to be able to do what we do, start by doing what we do".

Cheers

Hi Ceeg,
Sorry to pester you but as someone giving a seminar once said, "if you want to be able to do what we do, start by doing what we do"
It is no problem bud, I love helping if I can see that someone is putting effort into it :good:

I am letting Mad trader do the exits - Ma crossover in the opposite direction as well as Hgi opposite direction and in addition using Mptm set to b/even 10 pips after 50 pips with a jumpstop of 50 pips...It must also be said that I do intervene manually like before news events etc. This is a live account so I dont take chances.

Let us know if you do or dont get trades..No trade for 2 weeks does not sound right.
