The problem with trading HGI with lower TF is it wasnt designed for lower TF. In other words you are taking a formula which was designed on a 4H chart and then trying those same numbers on a 1M chart. For example the 60MA on the 1M is the same as the 1MA on the 1H chart. That is not tradeable on a 1H. OR its the 4MA on the 15M chart. Here is a pic of the of a 15M chart using the 60 MA off of the 1M or 4MA on a 15M chart. Then you are using a 1M slope indicator value. It simply is not designed to work that way. I have had so many successful trades off of the 4H arrows I dont know what else to say. The 4H candle lasts for 4H and so the indicators get a chance to work with each other in a coordinated system. I simply cannot see how it would work the same on a 1M chart. I simply am not going to recommend any changes based on the findings of a 1M chart. Attached is the 15M chart using the 4MA. |

Here is the trade on the 4H chart. The candle was posted and the white line showed the entrance. It worked as designed. 20 pips was there for the taking. |

Understood Bob, it seemed so much accurate on M1 offline charts that I really thought this could be easily tradable. On live charts the reality is different, so will abandon this idea and stick to the basics! Thanks for your words. |

I totally agree with you, Bob. HGI has already been proven profitable using H4 TF. The lower you go in TF the more errors the program will incur. In my trials, I have already eliminated M1 and M5 and just today, I eliminated M15 as an option. I will now concentrate on H1 because it is my nature to not leave any stone unturned, but in the end, experience tells me that the system will be a winner with H4 and nothing less. |

Al or Bob, what are your thoughts about using it on D1? Do you also think it will not perform as well as H4? I've been following it for a week or so on D1 and had noticed the same as above when charts were refreshed. The refreshed charts look so perfect, but then you realise an arrow has appeared where it wasn't in real time etc. Will appreciate the thoughts from the master traders here, thanks. Also a huge thanks for all the work done by all responsible here. All the best for a very happy and safe Xmas and holiday season to all. |

The higher TF you go the better it should work. The higher the TF the less chance you have of multiple signals occurring. I think it will work on the 1H because the 60MA on the 1H is the 15MA on the 4H and that is tradeable. The problem that exists as you go to lower TF is the Slope indi. My experience with the slope indi whether used in the CSS or slope strength is it is more valuable or more accurate the higher the TF. That is why I use the Daily for my CSS reads. The lower the time frame the more up and down volatility you have with price action and the harder it is for the slope to gauge itself. My thoughts would be if the HGI doesnt work on the 1H I probably could tweak the numbers so it would work. However, I would think it would a better option to me is to take the 4H reads and then go trade on a lower TF. If the wavy lines are showing trend down then go trade sells. If it shows trend up then go trade buys on a lower TF. Take the 60/240 or 10.7 indi and use it on the lower TF using 4H HGI reads probably would solve most of the problems. That would be much better than trying to force the HGI to work on a lower TF. |

It's al about expectations. People (me included) see charts with possible runs of 100's of pips, and don't think about TP after 20 pips. You know, letting winners become losers.... |

I would have to agree with you Bob from what I am seeing. HGI is ideal on those higher time periods you trade. However those wavy lines are quite nice on the lower time frames. Intraday trading will never be just following a signal. There is just to much going on with news and misstatements by supposedly smart people. I like seeing HGI on my intraday chart and I have taken some nice trades using it but always in conjunction with what is happening in the news and CSS. Oh I do like CSS intraday. However I use it as a reference to relate to what I am hearing from the news and seeing on the charts intraday. Nothing further out in time. I look at the 4 hour and Daily charts to get a longer perspective. Cheers, Doug |
