If I would have a "not included in strength test" would Maddy still look for just crossovers of MA's?
Steely it is clear that you have not read the manual or anything posted previously.

Nevertheless the answer is No.

Also read this from page 20. Take note Rene has since seperated Madtrader from Maddy but the conditions still remain the same on Maddy and only then will Madtrader Ea look for a trade..

Leon I have done both. Just was confused in striving for my goal to have an indicator who's just opening/closing when crossing my LWMA 20/35 on 1M/5M which I am doing manually now. But I understand, that you have to have strength against weakness in MAD to do this....sorry for asking....I will follow along....

I've opened another demo, this one with GlobalPrime, running both demos with the same set files from my vps. Now that they have been running for a few minutes highlights and strong / weak currencies are identical which is a good start, we will see what happens over the next few hours. Thank you !

G.

Edit - off to an excellent start, both of my new demos have opened AUDUSD trades and both are nicely in profit. The first demo still only has the one trade, obviously I've totally stuffed something up on there but that's the only one I can't work on remotely so it will have to wait until tomorrow. Now to see if these things close at some point !

Edit 2 - MPTM has moved the stops to breakeven at 10 pips

Update 3 - I used a 10 pip jumping stop, I'm not used to leaving 50 pips on the table unprotected LOL, and both platforms closed out the first trade for +20 pips and have just both opened 2 more positions - happy camper doesn't begin to describe it ! Thank you again :)

Update 4 - at the end of the US session, my GlobalPrime demo has closed 8 trades. 4 were stopped out by MPTM at breakeven, 3 stopped out by MPTM for a profit, and 1 closed by MaDTrader for a combined +13.6 pips. There are still 5 open trades which aren't looking particularly healthy - that's 13 trades, it sounds like my EA has gone from one extreme to the other, this is nothing likje your 2-4 trades per day. Maybe I need to shorten the lookback, is yours still huge ?

Hi Ceeg.

The idea for you would be to run this over a period of time and weed out the non performing currency pairs and only trade the pairs you are comfortable with....you can shorten the lookback sure. The choice is yours.

That makes sense. Now that things are starting to happen I've started two demo accounts with my usual broker, one with your 50 pip jumping stop and one with a 25 pip jumping stop, and will just let them run for a while. I've run out of time today but I'll post some fxblue links in the next couple of days.

I saw on one of your posts that you start the EA for a couple of hours at the London open and after that play it by ear, then in another post that this is 24/7 autopilot - I'll be running mine on autopilot, I'm as brave as a lion when it's not my money on the line

Cheers

The latter is the case.
ceeg » Wed May 18, 2016 11:22 am wrote: My reason for asking is exactly what I just described - if MADDY can see (e.g.) three strong currencies and two weak currencies what decides how the currencies will be paired for trading ?
That is the reason for MADTrader to have all these entry rules. MADTrader will create all combinations of STRONG/WEAK currency pairs, and apply the selected entry rule to these pairs, in order to go ahead with the trade or not.

You would have known this, if you had read the user manual.
Hi Ren,

Is it possible to have Minutes Ago function preferably below each arrow on each currency pair?
The whole idea is to gain from momentum acceleration. I am a discretionary trader and would rather enter an order when I feel is going to gain tremendous momentum in a short time and get out with 20 pips in a couple of minutes on a volatile pair like EURGBP.

Just to let you know, I am still fully immersed in testing Maddy and Madtrader. The grind continues, but testing every possible scenario in every option available on Madtrader as well as all currency pairs. The idea here is for me to eliminate currency pairs and combinations that are not performing so well over a period of time.

I hope in time to give you an update as to where I stand and what I am testing. So far looking positive :)

In the meantime would be nice to see results and tests from traders here.

Hi Wavegarrick!
I have now succeeded to set up three demo accounts with different setups. I will give it next week as well before posting any results but it is clear that some triggers work better than others.
So far MA Cross 5 (34,21) and MA Stack 15 (34,21) is giving best profit.
Currently I start at London open and let it trade for 5 hours. Then after 1 or 2 more hours the trades are closed automatically.
I use milanese_APTM to handle it.
Have also the BE at 10 and jumpstop 50.
You have explained some parts of the exit strategies, but do you really run 24/5 now?
Or is that due to the fact that you use stoch?
BTW I have added one more setting in MADTrader, ExitCheckDelay=300 to use if the trigger is giving unclear signals leading to many opened and directly closed trades until the direction is clear. It means that it will not check for MACross etc until after those seconds. This seem to help.
Will look into adding a News filter as well later.

Any response to my thoughts?

Hi Mathias,

I am glad to see that you are putting alot of thought into this Ea...you will only be a winner if you continue like this. :good:

Here is my thinking..I mentioned in previous posts that we have only scratched the surface of what Maddy and Madtrader can do for us.

The 5 and 15 min setfiles that I have posted on page 66 will deal more with intraday swings based on fresh signals that Maddy has produced. Now, these I will handle with infinite care because these trades will open against and with the immediate term trend. How do I define an immediate term trend?...well it is simple I go to the 1hr, 4hr and daily chart. If you look at how often the 21 and 60 lwma set to open crosses over.. look at Gbpjpy for example it has just crossed back down now and had a run up of 500 pips. So what if you throw in 1 hour stack trades, stochs, Hgi and Ma crossover with 21 and 60, trades will only open if the Maddy dash board is highlighted and like in the recent Gy u/trend for example only buy trades would have opened getting you nicely into the trend with pound strength and Yen weakness derived from Maddy. No countertrend trades would have opened with Madtrader on the hourly and 4 hourly timeframe. :youknow:

So by having this as well, you have intraday trades and medium term trades all under one roof. Heck you can even throw in the daily time frame and have long term trades under your roof all from one maddy dashboard...the whole idea is to have these trades all opened only with fresh signals with a short look back on the 5 and 15 min Maddy dashboard..You can either be the complete trader with all of these under your roof or you can choose to be only one of them, I have chosen to be all of them :)

It will not always be a bed of roses. I don want to for example have Mptm handle my med term trades with a small jump stop so I have set this this to B/even 10 after 100 pips and a jumpstop of 50 pips and therefore I have to rely on my intraday trades to be handled by madtrader with close of Ma's and Hgi in the opposite direction and we all know the lag effect of Ma's and can result in trade closures in the red. So Mathias, I like your idea of increasing the time inbetween trades especially with intraday trades. Nevertheles these trades are closely monitored and are manually closed with each session. The trades that are with the med term trend, I will let it run 24/5. Hope this answers your question.

The idea for me is to run all this for a period of time and decide which settings have performed the best as well as currency pairs. I dont want to throw all my setfiles out here because I will just confuse alot of traders. Hopefully after a period of time I can share the setfiles that have performed the best. But I do encourage all to expand on my ideas. Trust me, you have the complete package here from George and Rene :good: Very few realize what Maddy can do and I hope I have planted the seeds for more to get interested ;).

Have a great weekend
Tc.
Edit Forgot to mention this. So in essence by using the 5 and 15 min Maddy dashboard I am using intraday swings to get back into the medium term trend by using Madtrader Ma set to 21 and 60 on the 1 hour t/frame and of course this will only apply for method of entry - stack trades or Ma crossover but care should be taken with Hgi and Stochs because Madtrader will not look to see if you are still above 21 and 60 on the hourly timeframe. Hope I make sense.

Great post Leon and you just solved one major problem and gave me an idea on how to move forward with my testing, that is, include the H1, H4 and D1 TFs in my MADDY setup :good: I will test this when the market opens next week but just wondering aloud, will the D1 generate any signal with a 240 minutes lookback. I will wait and see.

Cheers, and a good week end to all :hi:
