So if I understand things right this never set up for 10.6 trade.
The css info was good, but the stoch never gave a signal 4hr or hr except while ranging.
The only signal was in the ranging area. Since I am new I am trying to stay out of.
Coming out of the range there was still no good sigal.
The trend still looks strong but still no signals.
If I understand things right I should be waiting for a reversal trade now.
So I am just wondering if there was anyway according to 10.6 to have seen this coming and capitalize on it.
If you played the break of the 60 MA, which I will do if the CSS gives a signal or I know the fundamental. I didnt know or recognize either one. This break north is off of a CAD bad news story which happens. All the CADs moved off of the story so it was not anticipated very clearly by indicators. Indicators do not predict the news. The story was an unexpected bad news story so big move for the news traders. They get to brag some about how following the news works.

So if all CADs are reacting to news should there be somewhat of a rebound to expect?

I would and am looking for the CT trade but a big news story can run 2-3 days and this one had some pretty strong legs. Also the gbp/cad has been on a strong run for about 6 months now so be careful with that CT trade.

Well well the market finally came to life

I used the volatility to close out all my positions, winners and losers alike. Their were some stragglers that were either to far gone to save, or were plain just the wrong decision...

My week ended in the black at least and about that I cannot complain.

I am thinking about staying out of the market the rest of today and tomorrow to let the effect of the speeches and news wear off and will re-look at pendings and the CSS on Monday.

So far so good, could be better, but you cannot blame the method if the problem is on the other side of the screen :D

Have a good day all.

Cheers

H

Edit: If I had followed Bob's advice about never letting a winner turn into a winner, (especially the JPY shorts) then it would have been much better...)

Talking about not letting winners turn to losers, I'm currently in this AUDUSD short and I'm wondering, given it was at some point near my TP but retraced, should I take it out just to be sure it won't retrace anymore against me? or should I check the status of the pairs on the CSS Daily and the chart?

As far as I know it is still a valid short per the rules if you look at the chart in which price is bouncing from 15ma, the CSS Daily shows AUD traying to go back above 0 line, but USD remains strong in the upside and not tilting south. So according to this we might let it run towards TP again.
Thanks for your comments guys

I just noticed something...

The market has been relatively flat for the past few days no?

Looking at the the CSS, you can see the effect of the flat market...

Most all the lines are also flat on the CSS as well. Especially if you magnify the window with the magnifying glass thingy...6 of the eight seem to be flat, with only CAD and JPY showing any real strength of move

Interesting...

Could this indicate trend reversals coming on?

Except for the CAD, which I missed, markets flat for Non-farm payroll. That is a USD mover and it seems the market is sitting on that report. Each currency is sitting on a biased direction but the CAD report was a surprise so we will see what the USD data will be. What usually happens is the market will go to dead center today because the market doesnt know which direction to go. OR it will move to positions of overbought/sold to maximize profit when the news comes out. For example the Euro will move near the 240 line waiting to sell big tonight or an indicator like the STO will be above the 80. We will see. In other words its like a starting gun for a race at the beginning of the new year. The big boys will be back to trading mode after the holidays.

Hi NaningBob

Kathy Lien says that "Of all the major currencies our favorite (for 2014) is the New Zealand dollar ".

in http://www.fxstreet.com/analysis/asia-o ... 014/01/03/

What do you think about that?
