This reminds me of something I could not answer last night - synapse not firing as usual.

zaguy sent me a version he had coded that added Bollinger Bands. He could not understand why trades being sent when his BB trading conditions are met, being instantly deleted.

I looked at the code and found that BB was being used to force a trade when there are no HGI signals. Finding no signals, HGB immediately assumed that the signal that fired the trades is no longer in existence and so deleted them. HGB will not delete pendings if there is already a market trade in place, nor close the market trade because a signal traded live starts a trading sequence that must be worked through.

The trade sending buttons cannot fight a lack of HGI signals.

I will have an updated version in time for the markets opening next week. The RnR offsetting code is spot on; Bruster tidied mine up and then added the single sided complex offsetting. I will port it across over the weekend.

Look forwards to comparing this with pure RnR .. logically it should provide a nice middle ground for profit vs potential worst case drawdown. Thanks for all your efforts this week Steve and Bruster.

An updated User Guide and V 2 are in post 1. V 2 has a full implementation of offsetting, so it is an essential download if you wish to use it.

Coders, I realised it is unnecessary to have separate offsetting functions, the the new one is
bool CanTradesBeOffset() starting at line 4751.

I decided to try to cater for OrderClose() failures:
  • Line 234 defines an array to hold the ticket numbers of trades that need to be closed during offsetting:
    • 4767 is a resetting of the array size to zero. I reset it multiple times through the function.
    • 4815 shows how I populate the array for simple offsetting.
    • 4982 This block shows how I avoid going into an endless loop if a trade closure fails, but still allow the iteration through ClosureTickets[] to complete, whilst resizing and populating ForceCloseTickets[] for use later.
  • 4365 bool MopUpTradeClosureFailures() is the function that retries to close the trades.
    • this function is called at lines: 5409; 6923; 7105
I would appreciate it if the bloop spotters could take a look.

Brilliant on the face of it, but the DD is nearly three times the profit, so no idea if or when I will get to bank any of it. We shall see. GU trades a total mess.

GJ is RnR. Again great on the face of it, but the 51 open buy trades will take a bit of clearing out. :arrrg:

Hi Steve
Don't give up on HGBnG because of current DD.
Using method previously mentioned, on LIVE account (v.Q with necessary fixes) we took 6% net last week & 13% net previous week. Total 27.9% on live account for April from HGBnG with $0 current Drawdown.

[On a GP "demo" where I let the updated EA versions run, profit seemed to be great, but similarly, was a fraction of the DD which almost wiped out the account.]

Working on assumption - "This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing ..."
(i) end of week close all open AND pending orders.
(ii) start each week fresh
(iii) don't pick & choose pairs, hours or days - run all week apart from -
- delayed start, MondayStartHour (7hrs after 4X open, for me Mon. 1400 hrs).
- early finish, FridayStopTradingHour (14hrs before 4X close & close ALL 9 hrs before 4X close. This usually avoids the Fri NY open announcements.
(iv) use incrementing profit close system similar to recently posted.

Friday saw green trades close at Dayprofit of +4%, more at +4.5%, more at +5% then all remaining open trades were closed green at 5.5% so I deleted all pendings. All 'in the bank' with no DD.
Greatest profit from XAGUSD then USDCHF and greatest loss from NZDUSD - for April. May will be different.
I can live with 28%/mth with no overheads, compounds to 1800%/yr. Better than what I was doing manually and appreciated.
