Hi Mathias,

I am glad to see that you are having a full swing at Mad trader :good:

I have been out of action for a week and some with my computer crash and had it up and running on friday, low and behold my computer crashed again. This is what happens if you try and copy files from your old hard drive that were corrupted in the first place :arrrg: Was no easy way out on this one...nevertheless I am up and running again. Have lost all my my demo tests though and have to start from scratch.

Mad trader is a long term association for me and one of the best ea's I have ever used so I encourage all to continue with this..I will post results during the course of the week..

Sorry for your computer crash, but as you say, MADDY/MAD trader is a long term assignment, and it is good that you are up and running again.
I have been playing with different MADDY settings and compared with yours.
Here is the one that have been most profitable the last week.
It is quite similar to yours but I have shorter periods than you.
Please try it and compare yourself.
One week is not enough to see how it works, but it is a good start anyways.
Maddy_1.7_MJ_160611.set

The best performers have been the ones with 5 min Cross MA(8, 4) and 15 min Cross MA(34, 21).
I currently run them 9-14 CET.

Hi Guys,

This idea was inspired by having a look at Dsugum's post "Scalping the hourly candle" . :)

Rather than look at Mad trader as an indicator waiting for trades to line up with Ma's etc, I have come up with these settings that look at the open and close of a candle on various time frames and suffice to say with a short look back of 240 minutes and extremely lite on your computer :good:

So why not capture the here and now and market momentum? Almost like looking at reversing the whole system with the indicator becoming our chart and what more do we want if we can capture up to 6 time frames with candle open and closing.

For now I have from 5 min's up to 1 Hr as my settings but I can imagine that 4hrs and daily would also be good.

Pretty good so far today with 832 pips bagged...

My ea which is mad trader v 1.1 I have based on the 8 exponential ma set to close to cross the 15 linear weighted ma set to open before trades will open....

Try it and fun to watch...and could possibly be the way forward for me :good:

Thanks Rene. George, Steely an all the guys that have wished me via pm, it is truly awesome to be a part of Steve Hopwood's forum :good:

Rene I am hoping we can pioneer Maddy into new territory, still early days.

Here are some thoughts:

-Trades will be aplenty and we can even look at reducing the look back period to 60 minutes which I have now done.
-I am also looking including the 4 hour time frame included in the currency strength check of at least 4 signals, will hang on a wee bit with this.
-Seeing that we have reduced cpu load I am looking at the possibility of including the Css filter.
-This is also where we can look at including exhaustion signals on the maddy dashboard, will play with this next week.
-Close trades if currency strength is 'exhausted' with the mad trader ea.
-Look at reducing the stop loss to say 50 pips.

There are so many possibilities and I believe that we can really fine tune this bot to be a very powerful trader.

Anyway, I am hoping we will get some more thoughts and ideas as we go along.

Above all we need to be extremely careful and no Ea is going to withstand the might and volatility that Brexit is going to bring us and showing in price volatility right now..and this is only the beginning :)

Then when it comes to testing and coding:
I am experimenting with CSS, but not the filter in MADDY as it was too restrictive for my taste.
Instead I have included a CSS filter in MADTrader including an optional test on D1 level and Angle of CSS.
I also have the possibility to filter just on CSSdiff on the symbol that MADDY have alerted.
It is way too early to evaluate yet but I was inspired of the CSS + HGI thread and wanted to combine some of those thoughts into MADTrader. The tricky part here is also that with too many filters it will be very few trades.

I am unsure of how to do with my modified version of MADTrader.
I don't want to "mess up" this thread with too many alternative versions of source code.
Maybe I can start with sharing the compiled version and if my ideas are interesting it can then be included in the source code here, or what do you think?

I am a strong believer in version control. This MADDY/MADTrader combination, with all their settings, already provide an enormous amount of configuration and flexibility, that can be a tester's nightmare. If we are going to throw into this mix a plethora of different versions of the source code, we are completely going to lose ourselves and it will be very hard to attribute a certain test result to a certain setting/option/version.

I would encourage you to keep testing your version, and if you can demonstrate with tangible performance reports that your version has merit over the core version, I will include your changes into the core.
