Bugger all progress on the small account with the large DD - consistently high DD and no banked profits.

The $12,000+ account made some progress.

Last week:

The balance at around 8.00 pm London time was c. $120 but I decided to take the hit on closing the position in order to be flat for the weekend.

Since starting live on this account since 24th Jan:

I am wondering if we are not better off by closing down on Friday evening and starting afresh on Monday morning, even if that means closing at an overall loss for the week. The DD on the small account has remained stubbornly at c. $300, roughly 25% of the balance, all week and is starting to accrue significant swap costs.

I last posted a favourable week for the small account on 22nd Jan viewtopic.php?p=173744#p173744, when closing the position would have taken away roughly half the posted profit, so I left the trades open. DD was then c. $30.

Now the DD is c. $300. No points for guessing what I wish I had done. :lol: I am going to see if anything more favourable happens this coming week. If not, I will look for an opportunity to close when the DD is matched by the cumulative profits and get out at breakeven overall.

V 2w is in post 1, with a teensy edit of the chart feedback text. I noticed there is no display of the individual basket pips take profit target, so I have added this.

The DIY could not be easier. Do a search for:
sizingInfo += " , Individual pair basket cash take profit = " + AccountCurrency() + " " + DoubleToStr(IndividualBasketTargetCash, 2);

Replace it with:
sizingInfo += " , Individual pair basket cash take profit = " + AccountCurrency() + " " + DoubleToStr(IndividualBasketTargetCash, 2)
+ ", Individual pair basket pips take profit = " + " " + IntegerToString(IndividualBasketTargetPips);

I noticed that the small live account was using the H4 Peaky by accident - my usual lack of attention to detail. :arrrg: I shall change this to H1 as soon as I close all the orders. Maybe this is the cause of all the DD? Maybe. Maybe not.

Just a heads-up to anyone else testing, H4 is the Peaky setting in the setfile Steve posted on p75 as well. I just changed mine to H1.

Do you folks realise that this thread will be 4 years old on Monday? Ye Gods, where has time gone? :arrrg:

Those of us who have been trading SPB since the start in Feb 2018 are familiar with this scenario: our whole position goes into draw down and remains there for months on end. Eventually the pain becomes too great and we closed down, taking a considerable hit. Happily most demo accounts remained in profit and started to grow again. Live, we stopped trading. For me, until my demo experiments with single pair baskets trading bore fruit.

I have reached the conclusion that it is best to close all open orders before the markets close on Friday night (Saturday morning for our friends in Upside Down Land), even if this means we take a hit. We can relax over the weekend and start again on Monday. The DD I describe in the next paragraph was once only c. $30 on one Friday.

The balance on my $1,000 starter account was over $1,500 by Thursday last week but the DD was jut a touch under $400 and had given no sign all week that it was going to go away. I closed all the orders and shut up shop for NFP and the weekend. This still leaves the account in a good shape:

The original two demos that doubled the account from $10,000 to $20,000 are still running. You may recall that they had gone into deep DD and remained there for months - many of you had similar experiences. Eventually most of us closed the positions to be left with (mostly) profits, albeit reduced.

One has reached over $15,000. The second just a tad under $20,000. I am leaving them running even though I am back to trading SPB live again, in case they can offer fresh insights. The original intention was to leave them alone but I have started closing all orders on Friday.

Happy birthday SPB :party: :clap:

My SPB live account (cent) which I started with a meagre 10k in July last year is today up to a balance of 32k. And even with the recent volatility in the markets it has been surfing the wave and the equity has increased to 47k. I'm sure some of that will be given back before these trades close, but still, what a performance! :youknow:

I've just noticed that when my tests go into Recovery all market trades are closed but not the pendings. These days because the code is so stable (v2t) I tend to just let my tests run and not pay too much attention to the actual trades being opened/closed. To be honest I'm not even sure if recovery has always left pendings open on my tests.

SPB core library line 5009 is where doRecoveryClosure is done. One of the first things it does is set deletePendings to true but the pendings remain, and this leads to further pendings being open via the fill in gaps feature.

I'm also treating individual pairs as a basket and have LeaveIndividualBasketPendingsOpen=false. When recovery is done all market trades and pendings should close with no further trading on that pair 'till next signal. Am I missing something here??

This looks like something wrong in the code. I have the Easter break coming up soon, and so will look into this then.
