Perhaps definitely is not the correct word to use, however there are many others who are far more expert than me who are also extolling this opinion at this time. Bob has written a number of posts in his 10.3 thread regarding this and he has included links to various articles as well. My Live account is approx $1500 better of for January trading these fundamentals.

I am also trading my demo without intervention like you...as stated above my results are +11% in just under 2 months, so I'm very satisfied.

In regards to intervention, all I was trying to say, was that this EA (just like almost every other EA on this forum and elsewhere) has taken sell trades recently (where JPY is base currency) because they are acting on the various indicators included.
When there are such strong fundamentals at play, like there is with JPY at the moment, any trigger for sells are short lived as the fundamentals overpower the indicators. Now this doesn't mean it's necessarily a bad EA, it just means the fundamentals are very strong and should be taken notice of.

Before we get into results, just know that I've not gone live yet--my results are all based on an Cowboy IBFX-US demo account. I have, in effect, been trading fxozgirl's early settings since the release of v1t on December 31st. fxozgirl's early settings are simply the default settings in v1z.

Since December 31st, The8 has closed 521 pips of profit. Right now, drawdown is as high as it's ever been at -149 pips. I'm trading 28 pairs--by exclusion, not the CZK, MXN, or PLN pairs.

v1z's PrevHighLowSL recently closed CHFJPY sell at -73 pips, and AUDJPY sell at -76 pips. Considering this along with my current DD, I'm giving back a large percentage of my profit. The real issue, as I see it, is that on 2 or 3 occasions I lost 100 to 200 pips of floating profit. :x

On dynel14's advice, I added EMAExits but I haven't tested them. I suspect they may be the cure for the floating profit issue. Note that EMAExits use the current EMA values which bounce around until the currently forming bar closes. Keep this in mind if you decide to visually check EMAExits.
Have you got a MyFXBook or FXJunction page where we can see these trades.

This proves three things:

1. Your/consensus fundamental analysis is correct. My previous post was not a slight on your ability. I loathe any degree of news trading because I truly was never able to make it work consistently. This is a matter of individual trading style. My best EA thrives during market chaos and does okay during technical trends regardless of news events. (One of only two EA's I cannot share--sorry). Even so, I try to refrain from making blanket statements as to the worth of news events. Of course, many things can go awry in autotrading--news aside. 2. The8 is not very profitable, at least thus far on Cowboy IBFX-US demo, without manual intervention. This is much to my own dismay, having already stated my style of trading. I will no longer be testing default settings. The ZigZagFilter may provide the trend filtering I desire.

3. Cowboy IBFX-AU demo must have a different data feed than Cowboy IBFX-US demo, which is not surprising.
I think it is different demo feeds causing the different results...I actually trade with Cowboy Go Markets & don't get half the trades you do.
The only loss I had yesterday was -68 pips on audusd, so demo still up approx 9% (this is v1t)

The zigzag (v1z) has me in excess of -700 pips right now, using ChicagoRobs setfile :(

As for news trading, I usually keep away from it, because I'm never at the computer enough, but this time the fundamentals are too strong, so for once I've managed to ride it ;)

its not failure to check allow live trading as that is checked and the EA is taking certain trades

re: low account equity, my equity is almost always positive with this EA, sometimes very much so. in terms of inputs, im using v1z default ootb settings apart from 0.1 lot. demo account is $1000

This could be caused by a number of things: low account equity, failure to check mark the Allow live trading box in Expert Advisor Properites, or a misset input.

ok, also can someone look at this screenshot? my high water mark for open trades was $244, yet no profits are locked in and basket currently stands at $97

again, running stock v1z settings apart from 0.1 lot.


can you offer any ideas? its like im so close yet so far with this EA... perhaps a change of broker would do it?

The8 does not use high water mark, or communicate with your indi, so it waits for UsePrevHighLowTS to take profit (default).

ok sorry, my post a few back when i alluded to a 'high water mark' didn't have the screenshot attached, i have edited to show what i meant - an indicator (iexposure tickets 2) that shows the highs and lows of the current open trades total.

so i have changed my server from china to europe, hopefully that will help.

re: the IsTradeAllowed function, i have opened the EA in metaeditor and seen a few lines of code which means if there are certain conditions the 'm-error' (molanis warning) will be generated. so if there is not enough history, or there is no connection to server, or if the EA was commanded to stop trading, or if allow trading is not checked. unfortunately, in the experts tab as per my screenshot on p19, all i can see is the "m-error - trading is not allowed!" , but with no explanation as the specific cause.

the inability of this EA on my hotforex platform to increase the balance of my demo despite reaching often high equity is puzzling, i can other's trades are closing out in profit.

i think i might just actually load the EA on a different brokers demo

Hot Forex has been a consistent underperformer for me also. I am running a different system but FX Open and several others have been consistently better. Hot has been down 15 % while others are up 20 % - So yes, make a change.
