I noticed that there were trades taken near it and the prices just bounced off it and reverse which caused the account to go in DD and had to wait for the price to come back to that level again to hopefully be in profit. Now, if the EA does not trade while near those levels, say, within 5 pips of those levels, maybe it can avoid going in DD.

I'm very interested in this EA strategy Im currently testing it on 3 demos, $1, $0.1 and $0.01 lots at Hotforex, Cowboy IBFX and Alpari. $1 lot is currently in profit $400+ but in DD $1,600+ lol which makes it still not in profit at the moment.
Dus3d,

Would you like to share with us how this EA performs on your many accounts (live and demo).

I have spent couple of months trying to get my hands on t101 basket trading method (including IA analysis, jumping pairs, Kos method on offline charts) with very mixed results, later I have come accross Pitbull method that amalgamated from t101 BTS and put this EA (thanks Steve) on demo for the last two days with very good results (TP on basket 20, no SL, timeframe M15).

What I like is the combination of basket trading and trend (on micro scale) trading. My biggest fear is how this method behaves when top pair suddenly goes in the strong trend in opposite direction (will new top pairs offset loss on this pair?) One way to go around is to put individual SL on each pair or hedge 1:1 - none for US brokers ad hope that other pairs gain much more that frozen loss). Like Tex style of PB trading mentioned in PitBull for Dummies thread...

I hate that Empty4 cannot perform multicurrency backesting and do not have time to learn MT5... that leaves forward testing only...

Hehe. Thank your lucky stars that it does not. Given the utter bollocks that backtesting single pair results represent, spend a few seconds trying to imagine what it would do to to multi-pair backtesting.

It's not the same. Using multiple pairs supposedly without exposure to a single currency will give you distributed risk (like mutual funds).

Now if we think at yield, this EA will capture about 10-20% from movement if we are lucky. In order to get a pair in the indicator it need to move first.

I spent some time to read the FF thread, play with EA (doesn't work well for me, probably doesn't like Linux) and see Brian's videos.
There is a bit of confusion, what Chip did on FF has a different principle then this one. He bank first 80% from the movement and then hope to get even by using a 5*Lot..

I do not see what this has to do with multi-currency backtesting in Empty4 Strategy Tester. Am I missing something relevant in your post?

Steve,
agree that Empty4 is a crap...but , using your own words - as best as I recall - the best approach is to first try backtesting the system to see if it makes any sense at all and only then check system in forward testing....
I have tested several EA's, I wrote, that performed great in the first two-four years to wiped out the account in the fifth year, so I am looking for any 'easy' way to check your Pitbull EA performance (and possible other t101 trading methods) for the last 5 years at least... Just to give me a hint if I should 'invest' me time in this system...

Any ideas (apart from other MT5 crap or doing it manually in excel)?

Mariusz

You can try a back-testing for only one pair and try to get an idea. You need to use SL and TP and see how many time SL is hit.
At this moment there is no DD protection except eventually using SL. If I'll get more time next week I'll look more into this.

Steve,

i tested the EA in the last days with little success unfortunately. I set the EA to RealtiveMode=true, RelativeMinutes=60, TF = 5. Threshold = 20 pips and the EA seems to take the Entries correctly.

So far so good but, what bothers me is how the EA deals with losing positions. In my opinion it would be great if the EA monitors the positions and opens a hedge trade (lots should be adjustable) when a pair is in DD. This DD-point should be adjustable too. I would set this point to -40 pips for example. And the EA should open the hedge if the pair goes to -40pips in DD.

This is the way i am dealing manually with DD positions and was always able to close my baskets in the green until now.

thanks for all your work

Hi,
I tried to implement DD Control as I understand it ... he he maybe my level of understanding is not enough but any way..
I was close to quit this strategy but it went out from DD so I decided to give it one more chance.

Additions on Steve's EA:
- added dual mode - Normal (as it is) and DD Control
- EA switch to DD control when total basket is less then DD_Threshold. (used -5)
- Ea will store account balance in a variable as a reference when DD Control start.
- in DD mode, Trades in Profit are closed as soon as profit indicator goes under trading threshold.
-a trade is marked as being in DD if show a loss bigger then DD_Threshold/2. That pair is removed from trading indicator.
- new trades are taken if indicator shows new trade possibility. This will make room for some hedging cause new trades will hedge the bad trades due to correlation.
- All trades are closed if account equity goes equal or bigger then stored account balance.
- added a third pair in the list to get a visual info if DD works. If everything is Ok it should be removed back at how it was to save processor.

Non related: (in order to work on my system)
- changed how the infinite loop works. Before at every tick a new infinite loop was started while having a running one. I have no idea how crap t4 on windoze deal with an infinite loops but on linux has obvious issues. I added a semaphore variable which is set to 1 when loop start. On every new tick will check if there another instance running and if yes will quit. (to improve linux, no effect on windows)
- added max loop iterations for memory leak considerations and to allow to switch off the loop (set to 0 to be able to access properties and take new trades on linux)

Note.. I got an idea how an infinite loop works on windows, if EA is not finished then will ignore any new tick. On linux this will not take new trades, and access to EA's properties. Other error I discovered related to this issue is 136 error

Please note this is still experimental and will interfere with any other EA or trades. On DD mode will close everything as soon as your account will be on green whipping any other win from manual or other EA.
