Steve, Is this EA based on Symphonie 60-5? If so, can the EA be called Symphonie605EA or some other name??? I think it is important to keep it separate form the original from your post #1?? It makes things easier to keep up with when testing. I try to keep every version and change so if there is a problem I can go back to a prior version and work from that point to test problems. I do not wish to be a pain but from a testers point of view it makes life simple and lowers confusion levels. |

My apologies if I sound like a stupid noob but I am not a coder or programer I am a tinkerer and your patience with my dumb questions is much appreciated. I know I am lowering the IQ count of your forum so again.....my apologies. Evaluator. |

It is for the coders here to look over my code as a prelim to taking the ea into mtf trading. It has nothing to offer you and you must ignore it. I will explain how to use it once it becomes possible to use it in trading - in detail and personally if need be. Be as much of a pain as you need to be. None of the rest of us would be here without you. We are deeply grateful to you. |

Steve, OK....Since you put it that way. I do have one more thing to add. I would encourage you to add my account ratio system to your EA ( I call it ARS). Basically it is a stairstep ratio system that increases the lot size based on the available account balance of one's trading account. I use a 1000 to 0.1 ratio where by I add a 0.10 lot size for every 1000 in a persons account balance. I outline this in my post#1 on the Symphonie Thread but I post it here as well. Using ARS keeps ones account structure on a constant growth path while keeping only 5% balance at risk at anyone time. For obvious reasons if the value is an odd number you would always round down the number to minimize risk at any one time (example if ARS is 0.5 then the EA would still use 0.4 for exit strategy #2 easier to split the lotsize) which I am sure can be incorporated into the EA. This is a valuable component of the Symphonie Trader System and I encourage you to add this function to your EA as an addon incase the user wishes to have the EA money manage lot sizing as the account balance grows. Basically you could have an input setting of ARS with a value of true or false. Evaluator. |

Hi Steve I've had a quick scan through your code in my lunch hour and it all looks good from what I saw I'm assuming the strategy only needs to TF's? Looking good! Paul |

At the risk of incurring the wrath of a cranky muso, I am posting to seek help. I have been running Sym for a couple of days and have had 3 successful trades. Using small lot sizes (.01) in a demo account with an ECN (Alpari UK) I have now received the following message twice: "Stop Loss modification failed with Error 130: invalid stops." I have tried to identify error 130 (have seen a posting on this somewhere but cannot find it. Google is of no help - for once!). I think I have followed the advice on settings so I am at a loss to know why I am getting this message and wondered if some kind soul would enlighten me some. Thanks (I am in a crouch position ready to duck if I have incurred the wrath of our fearless leader for asking a nubie question! Steve, when you take aim with your poisoned barb, remember that I have a precarious hold on the upside down part of the world which might affect your aim!!) Karl |

If my memory serves me which is debatable at times. The ea is trying to put a stop to close to the market and the broker does not allow this. I ignore them because the order will eventually go through but I am sure Steve will know if there is an issue here. These errors are common. |

So I have two Demo accounts set up and running. I am going to run exit strategy one by the book on my laptop. Decided against the break even setting since the ea will be looking to the 60 minute time frame when the new version is ready. On my server I am running exit strategy two on the 5 minute time frame. No need to go to a higher time frame to trade with this ea now going to have a mtf component. I will try to stick as close as I can to Evaluator's system. |

| Post subject: | Re: Symphonie EA New As of 21 March with mbkennel sent + ext |
Morning Eval, all here is the template and set file from a new set up this morning, with all my settings. all should load with the template if you have all the indi's. i'm assuming you have them all as you did create the Symphonie trading system. You will see this is exactly what Steve is trying to avoid, all the 'thingies' he refers to and it can take a long time to set up each chart manually, especially with the amount of indi's i'm running. a quick explanation, fellow symphonie users will understand better, anyone not understanding or need indies, i have attached them all as a zipped file. there may be a different indi i've used on the chart, but compare to the attached pic and see what you would like, and remove what you dont want. sorry Steve, but i know you going to get a headache when you see the screen, i'm doing this to test the indis for a ea i'm trying to also write. trying to keep to a standard as per gamma_gallus, so here go's; the ea is running on AVA, MIG bank, CITI bank, Markets.com and MBT trading. the version of the ea is asof 21 march gmt+2 (9:00am my time) i.e 7am gmt time. the ea's settings are changed to allow for open trading, 0.01 0 30 - nice and small, smaller is better but keeps me in the trend if it suddenly changes. 30 - dont like giving back more than i risk (please correct me if i'm wrong) magic must be changed for each chart as it will interfere trade comment to differentiate which chart and what settings used on it criminal is true 120 false false true (third option) 1 3 2 false (i change this now depending on currency or metal, have not found optimal yet) 1 12 21 false (can leave true, i dont like pop ups) false (can leave true, i dont like pop ups) 40 (dont need more in smaller time frames) 7 50.6 300 (this is a must from 3000, very comp intensive at 3000, need only to look back on week ends) 12 30 as per your advice 5 ditto 0 false true false false false true true true false false (tp and sl too close, this not necessary) false (tp and sl too close, this not necessary) false (tp and sl too close, this not necessary) true i have also changed the settings of all the indis, very slightly and similar to the ea itself, except where Eval has advised on some , i have kept some of the old and not so old, and original settings to compare for myself. get to know the indi's , i know Steve will get annoyed with htis, but it's the best way to understand Eval's system better. i have not included the Trendline as i have the matrix'x running for confirmation. the idea of the trendline is to keep you in a position longer, so you dont get scared when a opposite direction movement happens. i also find the HA candles i use does the job also. please check all and their settings. some , including the signals by LhDT use the '3000' bars for looking back and will really drain your system. it's an excellent indicator and i have played with the settings. it should come up with my settings if you use the template. hope this helps all, and if any questions, please please pm or post. Eval, we all newbs, and ask questions a lot, and some of us more than others. If you shoot a newb down, it can be very detrimental to that person. Steve understands this to a point and he has the right, and does, tell people off when it really is a lazy question, as opposed to a good valid question. to a nerb they are all valid, but watch how Steve handles the situation with humour, and man his good. haha. Thank you Steve, for the gentleman that you are, and all the coders and fellow posters who help each other. regards george PS:all indi's used as in the file with same name, unless you compile them and add them seperately. |
