After the observation on 20-05-2025, I applied the trading hours to +01.00,-10.00,+14.00,-19.00 on broker's time, which is 1 hour faster than GMT. Target was set to 1% on equity.

22down Thursday, starting with 1000GBP in demo account, things went well in the Pacific session, hitting 5 times, profit around 60GBP-ish untill 0900GMT.
Being greedy that day, I put goldy as she was to the opening of US market. From 1200GMT to 1545GMT was fine, several offsets was solved, two targets was hit, but things went down from 1600GMT, where multiple buy and sell orders was trapped, stretching the distances in between larger and larger, where offsetting mechanism cannot even resolve the loss in between. ADX indicator shows a sideway market after 1600GMT, +DMI and -DMI crossing each other rapidly between 33 to 12 for hours. This leak toilet destroyed the profit made earlier that day, I ended up closing all open trades with a loss over 200+

23up Friday, funding back the demo account to 1005.25, goldy was let to run throughout Pacific market session, ended with 156.58GBP in profit, 15.6%. Happy with that result, I turned off EA for the rest of the day and chill.

Summary for 01:
  • Trading hours was set to +01.00,-10.00,+15.00,-17.00, only trading the Pacific market and the most rapid hours in US market.
  • ADX index will be constantly examined, avoiding sideway market as much as possible.
  • Daily target manual set to around 5% in mind, will try to follow this displine as firmly as possible.
  • Will not re-fund the demo account until start of July, let us see where this mindset can take us and goldy throughout the end of May and entire June.

I also have found that offsetting is no use when the trading blocks are far apart. Worse still, offsetting left one group of orders so far in the red that there was a margin call - several times.

I am leaving the demo I quoted at the start of all this alone for the time being, to see what happens.

I am going to treat the 'experimental' demo I list in post 1 differently. I am going to close down all the trades and 'refund' the account. I will try Ice's timings and see what happens.

For sure, we need a method of avoiding those periods when the market buggers around going nowhere. Ice is experimenting with ADX. I am restarting a manual demo trading on the latest swing.

All ideas welcome, folks.

i use the default set apart from "% of equity for profit target" set to 1.0 instead of 0.5. was losing money before*. this month i have made $648 . account balance is currently $2762. occasionally i have a group that closes at a loss. i posted this info but didn't get any answers i could understand. very brief. i didn't have the time limits set but do now. same as you. is it protocol to put the whole line of times inside ' and ' ? like: '+01.00,-10.00,+15.00,-17.00' or leave the italics off? *broker spread is 20.

V 1f is in post 1, with two additions.

Goldy will now delete outstanding stop orders when she goes outside of trading hours, so long as there are no open market orders. She needs to be able to continue trading to try to close the position if there are still open market trades.

The second addition is for icebrewer. I have added the ability to use ADX into the mix. The details are in the May 28th edit in post 1.

I noticed the option to select only long or short trades in the ea is now missing? I was trying only buy trades given the markets tendency. I see that i can select it in the common tab - is that the best way? Thanks

I have deployed v1f to a new demo account, with same amount of fund from the main demo account I am experimenting with. It was both to set to start today one hour late from pacific market time, (because I was clumsly setting everything up) all observations and results will be listed with the original goldy log.

v1f I am currently setting with is 30 for AdxTradeAllowedLevel, 1 AdxComparisonBar, to give goldy a bit more chance trading. Time frame has been removed, goldy will fully rely on ADX for this test division.

Let us play with it, see what we can make out of :smile:

Make sure you really have the latest version downloaded. I am developing this EA on two platforms and both are showing the 'missing' inputs.

Also, I have checked that the latest is available by downloading from post 1. It is.

Are you sure that you are using the latest version? Check the version display at the top of the chart feedback.

see screenshot. trade closed by ea with loss. -$36. strange. the usual group of small profit trades to offset the losing one is missing. edit. have just changed from version d to version f. it is hard to tell in the post which one is there
