I have had version 1A running since the beginning of tonight's asian session. Can someone tell me how to solve the issues above.

Thanks Peterke,

I've been thinking along the same lines but you've managed to summarise the options very neatly. When I designed the EA I put in 10 levels thinking it would never reach there--well you know what happens when you think you know more than the market

You've given me an idea I need to think about (I feel a spreadsheet coming on)

Here's a classic eg of Aus/Jpy trade taken this morning. One 55 pip candle with Pooler TP haring after it like a demented sheep dog hoping to catch up :D

Thanks for your inputs folks. I hope you rake in the pips. I had 7 trades open this morning. That pesky GU trade is still open from Thursday--its hovering on level 5 35 pips away from TP. Hope for retracement today

I think I might just have cracked this,

See chart and spreadsheet. I took that pesky GU trade which opened last Thursday evening and is on level 5 -$70 in draw down. See chart. To hedge we must open sell stops (SS) with the buy limits (BL) except for the first SS. Rather open first Sell stops (SS) at the blue dotted line (this is half way between BL1 and BL2) at the same lot size of .01 with a stop loss (SL) at BL 1. You can't place a sell stop at BL1 or you'll just break-even if the price only fills level 1 and retraces to TP.

Just fyi. The settings for GU are OR of 25 for first 3 levels then 37 for next 2 (as per spreadsheet on post 1)

Then you place a SS on every BL after that but at .01 lot every time. So SS 2 same place as BL 2 etc. (See chart). except at lot .01 (not .02)

So....
If price fills BL 1 retraces and hits TP at 60% its a perfect Pooler trade and you make 15 pips. If price continues and also fills SO 1 and hits TP as described above then you make 15 pips on BL1 and break even on SS 1. If price breaks BL2/SS2 then the EA must move the stop losses for the SS's the same as the Take Profits for the BL's orders.

If price behaves as per this GU example then then your draw down is reduced by 54% and the profit increases by 6.6 x from $1.50 to $ 9.9. Have a look at my spreadsheet and you'll see what I mean.

The top of the spreadsheet (in black) are the live open trades as they're happening now and the bottom (in red) are the same trades (except SS 1) that I copied and pasted but made into sells. The draw down total goes from $ - 71.45 to $ - 38.50. Please check my formula's for correctness.

Steve and the other master coders--surely this shouldn't be too difficult to do?

I'm tired and my brain is like porridge after this and I'm scared I've made mistakes but if this works---I don't want to get too excited here but could this be an EA that never has a loss?. Sounds crazy

Pooler, hi, do you have some general stats on how many trades go to L1, L2, L3 etc

tks

This sounds like a martingale + grid ea to me, no?

Hi,

If you've read the whole thread then you wouldn't need to ask this question.

Hi Peter,

More than 50% get to 1 or 2 levels. Very rarely does it extend beyond 5. But...there's always that "rogue" trade you described. However with this new method below you would actually be happy for the trade to take as many levels as possible. I would now trade this during volatile London/New York sessions or leave it 24/5.

See EurUsd chart attached. Its nearly closed. Imagine the EA had also opened a buy order of .01 at each sell level and trailed it with 2 ATR chandelier exit (as per blue line following). That would have stopped out at the blue dotted line with 24 pips. The sell trade will make 15 pips --total 39) and while the 2 trades were open the draw down is halved. How is this not a good thing?

I'm not getting much interest so I'm presume I'm missing something glaringly obvious so please feel free to point out any oversights in my logic.

And kaching. EU closed.

I had 7 trades from 23h00 close including that GU from last Thursday for a total of 216 pips. How many times have you managed to make 200 pips in less than 10 hrs? There were no losing trades.

I'm glad you earned some $$$.

Thats actually the perfect trade with this EA. Hit level 1 and retrace to TP. Remember no matter how many levels are filled your TP stays the same. I'm busy working on a method to drastically improve this EA and make it much more profitable. I'm busy testing in demo then I hope the coders will help.

I think we should call this new version Kaching$$$ because if my theory works out then thats exactly what will happen
