It has been a while that I posted about PoS. In september, I got a massive hit which not only cost me all my profits, but some of the deposit as well. Nearly 60% down the drain.....  Still believing in the strategy, the only way forward was with limited risk. Where the original risk gained appr. 18% monthly, I aimed for 6%, dividing the risk [lotsize] by 3. The remainder of the month of september showed some small profits already, but oktober sure delivered! With a nice 13,9% profit I end this month. DD is still 'highish', due to a few pairs still having positions open from before the MC. No doubt these will clear in the near future. Hopefully next month will show the same result, clearing the loss completely, so december can add to the green bucks again.  |

Hi Gertje, :hi: Thanks for the update. Mine had 32% DD, it recovered significantly in the end of Sept and recovered even more this week (now down to 4%). I trade 23 pairs on 5M,15M,1H,4H so in theory I should have had higher DD than you but I didn't because the trade size is 0.01/5000. Also,I'm grouping together similar pairs. I'm happy with how the EA handled the DD and with the overall performance so I'm just about ready to go live. The monthly gains averaged around 6% and this is enough for me. Lessons learned, I will stick to the higher timeframes and a minimum buffer of 10 pips and I will add pending orders to any unfilled gaps on the chart. I'm also adding a distant SL (350pips) to each 1st trade so that once in a while, the most significant losers will close and this will reduce the account hemorrhage and will allow the remaining trades to recover. |

POS1E has done wonder in the recent market move.   My demo account started on May 24 with USD30,000 trading 0.01 per 2500. As of yesterday, it has gained USD20,708 with no DD at the moment. All unrealised loss has been recovered and all positions closed. At one point in time in Sept the DD was close to USD14,000 with a maximum 91 trades opened, a bit scary but it never threatened the account because of the high capital and profit already gained on the way. I have never intervened and POS1E is running on its own. IMHO, POS1E is very stable, it can be left alone and should be profitable in the long term provided the account is sufficiently funded. I don't think it is good for a small account because of the occasional high DD, and high DD period could be over 2 months as shown in the following chart. It will be a huge test of patience and confidence in a real live account. Don't ask me for the set file, it is already uploaded to Thomas' FXTestify. I would keep this demo going and see how it will perform in the long term. cheers, kwchau |

I thought I would update my latest POS setup , I am using Gertje's original 4 setfiles . my previous demo suffered suffered huge DD so I reset it with 4 X the dollop size , so I have reduced the risk / reward by 75% . It is running nicely at the moment after 6 weeks max DD 8% Profit 12% . The downside is you need $20000 to start .... |

Well done guys, Hopefully the accounts will grow and provide cushioning for when the next large DD comes. I'm actually ready to go live with POS, AW and SPB and I will trade them conservatively with size 0.01/5000 plus small variations in the currency pairs so that for example I don't have pairs which have large ADR and are correlated (eg EURNZD and EURAUD) in the same account. I will also have additional cash on the side for any account which needs it :hi: |

I also got a period of high DD recently, using gertje pos v1e, which although didn't send equity into the red, came pretty close to equalling all profits hitherto accrued. It has now sailed past that, and including the roughly 4,000 pips floating profit takes the total pip count to 20,000 pips or close to.  |

My live account got margin called same time as Gertje's account ( I used almost same settings and version as him ). In my case I lost all accumulated proffit but saved the initial investment. My approach against DD, as I noticed that most DD comes from "fill the gap" multiple trades on same pair, was to increase the MDP 3x. So now I am trading same lot size but MDP 3x from Gertje's setfiles. Hope my logic was good. You can see below last month profits. |

I believe that most margin calls would be due to under funding of the account plus exposure to 1 currency over many pairs. The fill the gap function helps with recovery, so the bigger the distance between trades the longer it will take for the account to recover. At the end of the day this strategy will have DD, this is inevitable so at times our equity and margin will be down and then our account would be VERY vulnerable. What do we do then? We would have to assess the risk and do something to protect our account . We would have to consider the DD and the reduced equity + margin plus the accumulated lot sizes of each currency pair and to consider the possibility of price spikes at any time due to news or other events and to add more funds to the account or to close some of the open trades. The strategy can be successful but it requires risk management. :youknow: |
