In a separate experiment using shorter TFs for SS and Peaky and closing by the end of the day (9-10 PM UK), SPB is averaging 500 pips per day! Still too experimental though as there are some big losses in there too.

Some time back I asked if Steve would add functionality to SPB so that individual basket TP could be expressed as % of ATR. I've been testing this over past months on the H4 mainly. Several years back when I did long term testing using the Holy Graily Bob 'n Dotty EA I found H4 gave me better results then D1 so I have gone back to that.

Entries based on ATR do not work for me, it generates a lot more trades but doesn't provide any or much extra profit, and is mostly detrimental. It will depend on finding the magic set of settings that will work in all environments, if such a thing exists. What I may end up doing is trading a smaller number of pairs as the lower ATR pairs generally don't perform as well for me, no matter what I use for the grid spacing.

There is another thing that has become clear (for me at least), that individual basket TPs would seem a better long term bet then either no TP, or global basket TP. Have tested both extensively over the years and have not been able to get anything that will work consistently, they leave too much on the table. Pretty much every kind of stop including trailing etc. don't work for me either.

See results below after almost 9 weeks. There are a few setting changes here and there and this is actually with Peaky disabled, what I call "native SS", it's still SPB though. It uses 400% ATR for individual basket TP, which on H4 equates to around 200 pips for the highest ATR pair. Also I keep my demo/live trading environments similar and due to leverage restrictions imposed by Australian regulator last year this is trading 0.01 lots/$20k so keep that in mind when looking at net% etc. Even then I still have to use margin protection (forexkiwi). Leverage for me is 1:30 on major pairs so I'm not trading NZD pairs anymore because those are 1:20.

These results aren't too bad but as Steve said this could just be current market conditions. Once again time will tell, but I am getting older ......

Good timing trader869, I've just returned from 4 months travelling. I shut those tests down soon after that post as results went south. Not catastrophic but gave most of that profit back over next couple of weeks. That isn't tradeable to me, not on H4 anyway.

I've had some tests running for some 6 months now while I was away travelling, just variations of ATR TP and SS stop levels on H4 with no peaky. That is what I am concentrating on. They are all around breakeven after 6 months so at least not blowing up accounts. One thing is for sure, this code is very stable, I'm still running v2t. So just getting back into again now and will look at D1 again as H4 generates too many trades for the profit it makes for each pair.

Hi guys. Trying to give my 2 cents, this is a 3k demo account started in early December (he survived the Christmas season!). Currently 4k (+1k gain) with only 1 manual intervention, to close all positions before the weekend, at a time when he was getting too much into DD.

I have now begun to study "on the field" rather than just theory. The EA is promising, but in an effort to keep improving the strategy I would like to share a couple of thoughts with you.

1. Some positions are held even if when losing hundreds of pips (of course you can close manually, but i wanted to stress the EA)
2. The win rate is 73%, however the average profit is 56 pips with an average loss of 86 pips

At the moment these are the two most concerning aspects that I am trying to address. Have you encountered the same problems? how do you handle that? :hi:

p.s. I forgot to mention that I'm using the 2w version

nice going on the demo. My $0.02 re: drawdown, sometimes best to leave SPB to do its magic. I'd suggest opening another demo with identical settings and run it hands free. Then come back and compare the demos a year or so later - it could be that the settings you're running require no manual intervention. But I could be wrong - it would be a good experiment. One of my most successful SPB family demos to date has some high dd sometimes but it always turns round in the end.

I downloaded SPB version w and I am having trouble getting it to load.
If I use any SS timeframe set to true I get an "Array out of range error" but using Peaky true only will load and open trades.

I think the problem is in BarReadingperiod and IndiBarReadingTime If else because it is not used in the UsePeaky routine

@fiox Yes those results look pretty good. We don't know what your settings are and you may have hit a sweet spot there but trading 0.01/$3k is likely going to require a lot of manual intervention to keep that a/c alive in the longer term. If that's the way you want to trade then well and good. I would however take trader689's recommendation onboard and fire up another demo and just let it run to get more of a feel as to what the EA can do for you. It will require a larger account size through. General recommendation would be a $10k a/c for 20+ pairs.

I have had some success over the years with this EA and a couple of its predecessors. What I've been focusing on for quite some time now is finding a setup that can handle the risk/drawdowns and requires little intervention.

You'll need to edit 'SPB core library.mqh' in MetaEditor:
Scroll down to line 278 which should be an empty line and add the following:
// Update noOfPairs to reflect the actual number of valid pairs to prevent array out of range errors
noOfPairs = tempIndex;

Save this file then you'll need to edit 'Slopey Peaky Bob Latest Version' and compile it so that it gets updated with the code you added to the 'SPB core Library'
