Hi Genaja , I can only say what I would be doing.... I am trying to be selective, to be "picky", I am trying to take only good setups, if have any doubt just not take it, there is plenty opportunities on the market every day. I stick with ONE setup only and anything what is not fulfilling my expectation for a good setup has to be avoided... that's my way ...

Good advice.

Master Trend trading first, then range trading, last of all counter trend trading.

If you are an seasoned trader, then you can do all three.

For the purpose of learning a new method, start with the easy one first. If you try to do all three at the same time, you will get all muddled up.

Thanks for advice. Thats clear. My question was rather the practical.
I have now made it so: I set the pending buy order 10 pips above the sweet spot.
Price goes up, stoch tops out, price goes back and the pending was now not hit.

Price goes with bid not over the sweetpoint, but with ask.
If I set the pending exactly at the sweetpoint, I was "in" and the price goes with stoch back.
Actually I was not in, price goes back and now, if now increases the price he might exceed the sweet spot powerfully.

Managed positively close near 900 pips on GBP/AUD, GBP/JPY, EUR/AUD. Still NZD/JPY is on going. Four weeks in profit, it is promising really....
Wow!
That looks positively great!
I'm still ironing out my trades, wondering why some stuff aren't working, but hey, kudos to you!
As another rookie to the NB system, I would like to give you the best advice I was given,

KIS... Keep It Simple

only trade the trend for now... just doing that you will book plenty of pips...
when you get more experience, and will want to bite more, then do the CT or the trades within the 60/240..

right now I am ONLY trading the trends on the 4h charts, they are easier for us to see, and if we make a mistake with placement, its less likely to get burned, as its a stronger trend. (doesn't mean you don't need to pay attention to mistakes, just that they wont be as traumatizing)

Which brings me to Monday, where I spent half my morning reading the first 4 pages of 10.6 over and over to make sure I understood it. Somewhere around midday I dl'd the 10.6 indis, scripts and all, and started making trades. However, I've since encountered a few road humps along the way which i tried solving late into the night, which ended up exhausting myself. So here I am now, humbly seeking assistance on a few topics as below:

1. Scripts - Aside from TF1-TF4 script, no other script is working for me. I would love to get the drop buy/sell and close order script working. I'm running Empty4 (as admin) on Win7. Tools>options>experts has been set to allow dll, ext experts & live trading. My broker has a 5-digit decimal system, if that's relevant. Does any1 have any suggestions? Anything would be helpful.

Somtimes I find the scripts dont work for me either. DOnt know why. I then use the 1 click which is part of the Empty4. I can set pendings easiest that wat.

2. Ranging Trends - This has been a tad confusing to me. I am unsure of which swing high/low to use sometimes, and have trouble identifying the end of a ranging trend.
This is what I know, and my questions:
1. When a UT/DT hits a 60MA, it signals the end of the UT/DT. I draw lines at the last swing high & low.
2. If a candle closes outside the range, the ranging trend ends.
3. Sometimes a candle closes on the opposite side of the 240 MA (DT-Range-UT or vice versa), but does not break out of range lines. Is this considered the end of the ranging market (a new UT/DT) or still a ranging market?

It is just a fake out. Happens.
4. Sometimes the last swing high/low (either 1) will be outside where the chart hits the 60MA, how do I choose the swing highs/lows? Rough sketch added below.

The last highest price and the last lowest price. Dont know how else to explain it.
Image
A is the swing high, as for low, do I use B or C?

Cant use anything that is past the 60 MA touch because it doesnt exist at the time the touch is made.
3. Time Frames - I studied a few frames and found that certain strong trends do not give off signals in the 4H TF, so I went to the 1H TF. It was recommended that I set positions on the closest lines (15 lwma or sweet spots). Usually the candles are closer to the 15lwma, but it never touches, hence I have pendings but no trades opened, whereas the sweet spots are where the price slows down/reverses, so triggers there have lost pips. I realized that by going into the M30 chart, we can take advantage of the more sensitive lwma to trigger trades. these trades usually go for 10-20pips profit. S'long as it covers the spread, we can maximize daily pip harvest. But that's just my 2 cents.

I am a 4H trader and rarely use the 1H. I only use it in some range trades.

4. 15 LWMA - Should I set this to apply to median price, or open? Median gives more chance of entry points.

the difference between the 15 open and 15 median is so small it is not worth worrying about.

5. Trading hours - Like I mentioned before, I'm from Malaysia, currently in Beijing. If i'm not mistaken, we should be on the same timezone, Bob. So the trading hours you use are roughly 8am-10am-2pm-5pm-11pm, right? Just trying to work my trading hours along this 4h guideline.

Make your trading decisions before each market open. JPY, EUR,USA and take profits 2-4 hours into the session. However, price can move during the nzd/aud, and later jpy sessions especially when they have the afternoon bond sales but that is a normal trading day. I will/can take trades at any time though.

Sorry for this long post, but it would be awesome if I could get some help on these. I hope that we'll all have a great trading year ahead!

Cheers!

Hi fx8000,
Master Trend trading first, then range trading, last of all counter trend trading.

That means, only Trades with double colored Dummy-Light bar?

green, green or red, red

right?

No. On H4, look for long when H4 bar is green, and short when H4 bar is red.

The second small bar is to tell you if a H1 setup is available when the trend is strong and you do not get STO7 retrace signal on H4.

Please go back and read the first few pages of this thread.

Hi guys, great trading week ahead I hope... after yesterday's action today I'm seeing a lot of settings like this one on JPY pairs. Would it be advisable to play it short expecting a bounce off 240 towards a downtrend? I guess it is somehow by the rules.
In this example I placed my pending at DP, to make sure I won't get caught on just a retest of previous levels, but a true continuation to the south
Any comments?

I'm no pro here, but IMO waiting for STO7 dropping below 80 to place the pending trade would give a better confirmation of the reversal at the 240MA.

Thanks dispell, I've been struggling exactly with that part, as I tend to miss out on the movements. But it might indeed be a safer way. Thanks for your input
