Always good to mind what we are really doing here.
As a mathematician & coder it is a little irksome realising much trading is about dealing with mass human sentiment, often not logic. Hence best of intentions ---
Not sure why you would want a TM to close (H4 EA) HGBnG trades each day - makes no sense to me. Stated previous, big mistake is trying to pick which pair, which day.
Have used/looked at many 'Trade/Basket Managers' incl. Steve's brilliant MPTM & HGB BM, but for HGBnG wanted a simple "take off the cream" && 'keep me out of trouble' manager, hence - "TargetCloseAllTradesBE", as no other TM I know uses auto-incrementing targets. [Maybe we could add feature to MPTM] HGBnG already has many MPTM features anyway.

Traded Price Action manually for some years but test most SH EAs, I believe have a sound basis. With great respect for Bob (& Steve), last 6 months ran one 'control' HGBnG version whilst concurrently testing newer mods. on 16 pairs. When a newer version statistically performed better for >week on same pairs, the 'control' was replaced. As mentioned, to this point HGBnG v.Q on H4 (with code fixes), is far & away the best net performer. Using only H4 as H1 or less generates huge drawdown & stable.

Since 5 April 2016 my $x,000 live, real money, account has near doubled due to HGBnG v.Q + 'TargetCloseAllTradesBE-EA' to take off the cream & close everything down at end of each week - ie. zero(0) DrawDown at weekends.
Compounding current live account growth rate, just $1000 could become >$60,000 in 10 months with managed HGBnG.

At SH forum we do not give much credence to Empty4 B.testing but it can be useful to check stability. v.1Q gains well live & even b.tests at >300% p/a.

'Balance' is not real, net, all out, money in the bank, Profit. No point in having increasing balance when the DD is larger. Unsure why, but trying to replicate v.1Q with versions 2, all MA filters false; 'Offsetting' false; 'Stop_Orders_Only';, for me, the DrawDown is uncontrollable.
Since most have lost v.Q, I have attached copy I use on my live account. No guarantee it will perform same as management is paramount. Occasionally I do look & close some 'obviously' wrong direction whipsaw trades.

Thanks for your TM, in the past 2 weeks I have noticed I have leave a LOT (really a lot) of money because I don't close 4 or more % in gain. This week I give a try to your TM and:

V 2c is in post 1. It is the Experimental version renamed - the new trading method may be experimental, but the code appears to be fine.

There are specific Stop and Limit inputs, inspired by this request by Krzysztof:
“Hi Steve, would you be able to make payable modification of code for me for HGBnG "Stop and Limit" orders to add "Multitrade" orders in opposite direction to HGI signal with defined grid distance and TP. The idea is to have success of HGI and HGBnG in its direction and take limited benefits if price goes opposite direction before take a main direction. TP would be less than grid pips, thus leaving system with only 1 trade in opposite direction in worst situation before it catch HGI signal. Cheers.”

From the updated UG:
The inputs are:
  • MultiTradeInOppositeDirection: tells the bot to send a grid of sell stops as well as the stop and limit orders when HGI generates a Buy signal. Opposite for a Sell signal.
  • NoOfOppositeTrades: the size of the grid.
  • DistanceBetweenOppositeTradesPips: the distance between the trades. There is no ATR here. The idea is to snaffle a few pips when the market takes off in the opposite direction to the HGI signal for a while.
  • OppositeTakeProfitPips: the take profit for each trade. Make sure this is less than DistanceBetweenOppositeTradesPips to ensure there is only ever one of these trades open at any one time.

Thanks for posting this info Lifesys, you just confirmed everything I have been experimenting with.
I am at month 3 right now averaging 30 to 40% per month. I'm happy with 2.5% per day or 13% per week. I usually shut it all down once I reach 13% for the week. At 10 month time frame you be very happy. :yahoo:

My thoughts exactly - it is very hard to press that button and close losing trades but it always comes back again either the next day or the next week.

I'm early on in my testing but bagging around the 2-3% mark a day also (some days up to 6% which makes up for the other days of losses) and just keep telling myself not to be greedy and keep ticking along at this rate and I'll be a very happy man :clap:

As I have been told many times - being a long-term (profitable) trader is actually quite a boring job. I'd like to keep being bored. :D

Hi,

I may confirm what lifesys and cyberevil said.
I trade successfully on life account with HGB since 11 of April (currently ver. 2b), I also run few other instances with various settings and also in my case most profitable version is 1Q (demo produced over 30% in 6 weeks or so) however results are not so spectacular as mentioned above. I think it might differ because I do not use RADs and I still play with various settings of ATR and grid size.

I will try CyberEvil/Lyfesis/Other's approach of trading previous version.

Lyfesys, I recall you suggesting to stay away from cherry-picking pairs as it's better to bet on the performance of the EA as a whole and not count on one particular pair to bring the profits (as this is unreliable). In your last message, you mention that you currently trade 16 of them.

Would you mind sharing which pairs are you trading this in? I've seen many different combinations around the thread and the particular 18 pairs I'm trading might be holding me back.

Also, a question for both Lifesys and Cyberevil: You both are using S.O only right? (Telling by lifesys' latest 1q version attached)
