This is what I like about this EA...It's running on 27 pairs, and so far since Monday afternoon, no trades have been trigerred! If it was my brain, sure hell I would have placed a trade...guess due to boredom:)

This post gains you a change of name colour. Maybe it should have happened before now. Sorry if so.

Stick to the H4. Dimwits like me are trying the H1 - no patience.

Thanks Steve, much appreciate it...BASA has been a great learning curve for me in trading...sure by the beginning of this new year will go live with this EA...I am convinced now!

No offence intended Pedigree, but aren't you somewhat trying to reinvent the wheel here? BASA was designed to determine whether a particular pair is in a trending state and then only allow trades (after a pullback or rally) if those conditions exist for that pair. If there are no candidate pairs because of choppy/ranging conditions, well then it just doesn't trade. Does it really need another filter?

Please correct me if I'm wrong but, from memory, Paul's Global Market Trend was originally developed for a basket trading strategy - I can't remember which one. But BASA manages pairs individually; it's not uncommon, for example, to see AUD and NZD pairs trending strongly when all others are flat. In which case GMT might exclude successful trades on those pairs. Over-filtering can easily asphyxiate a trading system.
No offence at all taken SWG, and indeed it crossed my mind that over-filtering could occur. There will certainly be trades that will be missed on account of this extra filter, but most whiplash trades will occur during this defined period also, and it is these we will primarily be trying to avoid. As with everything forex, it is going to be a trade-off.

Perhaps most important of all is that the EA will during this time be operating in an inclement market for which it is not designed; it will most likely record its worst losses at this time.

Besides, this is proposed as an option and not a hard-coded condition, so each user is free to apply it or not.

The current trend of the market appears to be nearing its end. It will be the first time that BASA is having to cope with a reverse-trend situation. Maybe the need for this extra filter will be dispelled or demonstrated by it. It would have been useful to have this option though, so comparisons can be made.

I do not know if GMT was originally designed for basket-trading. I speak purely from my use of it in the way described. Maybe Baluda himself would like to chime in here with some education. That, in itself, will certainly be very useful.

Hey all, I've been following along and have BASA running on a US Oanda 1:50 demo account, but as far as I can tell, the EA was never coded to take half profit at a certain point, or was it? I know Shelley has been doing this but I thought the EA only either went to full TP or closed out at SL. I'm just curious because yesterday was the first time that BASA closed out only half an opening lot and I checked the settings but don't see anything about taking half profit at any certain point.

You will find it in the BE settings, if you want to disable partclose set PartCloseEnabled to false,
with PartClosePercent you can select the closing %

Cheers :)
