Most of the SHF EAs have a section for trading hours. It seems very self-explanatory to me, and I've been able to get it to work just fine.

Many set files that I've found have trading hours set to something like this:
tradingHours=+22.05,-22.45

By my reckoning, that means the above setting for tradingHours is set to trade only 40 minutes during the day. It will start at 2205 and end at 2245. Can that be right? And if it is right, what's the rationale for running the bot for such a short time frame? :?

you should read the first post of the thread of this EA(s) and the entire thread, so you will understand what idea is behind the EA(s), such trading times make sense for daily strategies at example.

Thanks Tommaso. Time frames are almost never mentioned on the first posts, but I'll keep looking.

update: I found part of the answer in another thread. Adding it here in case it will stop someone else from asking again.

"Btw. PPoS was designed to set its trades just after the open of a new daily candle. That's why tradingHours defaults to "+0.10,-0.25" (i.e. trade between 10 minutes past midnight and 25 minutes pas midnight)"

I've been running HGBnD EA for a good time on my demo account and increased my account 20%. I'm planning to start on live this week. I wasn't trading last Thanksgiving Day in the US. I was wondering if Thanksgiving Day affects foreign exchange in a way? or it only affects stocks?

It has been my (limited) experience that US holidays have a minor effect on FX behaviour, if anything there is less volatility during the NY session, and possibly larger spreads because of lower liquidity. That doesn't mean there won't be any big news events happening that day though.

Hello to everybody, recently I have downloaded a simply but good EA for Trailing stop, I tried to add the options "trade by magic id" and "trade by comment".

I put this options on the string #29 and #147.

I launched compile and it doesn't give me any error and also gave me the ex4 file.

Does Anybody has the patience to confirm or (most probably) correct what I have done?

You do not need us to answer this. You are correct if your code worked as desired, you are wrong if not. You will learn from working out what was wrong if it did not work.

Hi all.

I have an issue with some EA's on my charts.

I am trying out steves new peaky. I cannot ZOOM in without the chart display going crazy and zooming way out and changing time frames from 1hr to 4hr and sometimes daily.

Zoom back in and same thing , may hold correct chart for say 5 secs then zooms way out again.

I have changed no. of bars on chart in the EA but doesnt make any difference. Also use script to download hist data. Using global prime.

Just scratching my head on this.

Hey Andwen,

There's some code in Peaky that checks that the chart is at the correct zoom level so that it can "see" enough bars on the chart to set the peak hi/low and sixths... If the chart is zoomed to a different level, Peaky will automatically change the zoom level, and do a quick timeframe flip to ensure that there's enough bars visible.
So, each time you change the zoom, Peaky will change it back, and do a timeframe flip, (though, as you've seen, the flip doesn't always flip back).
I'm not sure that it needs to do the timeframe flip any more... It's something that Steve first started using in his PeakHiLo indicator. I removed it in my static version of PHL, without any problems.
I'll have a look at Peaky over the weekend, and see if taking the flip out flips Peaky out or not... If it works without any problems, I'll pass a fix to Steve.
