I would like to make a suggestion:

When pair_open_profit < x , determine if most open trades are Buy or Sell and then only open trades in opposite direction.

x = input negative number in currency

New trades will act as hedges, preventing bigger DD.

While in this condition the "hedge trades" should only be closed together with opposite trades of same pair.

I hope it makes sense!

The DirectionBias parameter has now two new options:
- Keep both directions balanced.
When this option is selected, the EA will not open a new BUY if, as a result of that, the BUYs would outnumber the SELLs by more than the selected MaxLongShortDifference (Default: 2). Similarly, the dancer would not open a new SELL if, as a result of that, the SELLs would outnumber the BUYs by the given MaxLongShortDifference. This is in an attempt to keep the draw down under control -- not sure if it will work.
- Get the direction automatically
Particularly, the direction is taken from MADDY. So, if you choose this option, you must run MADDYv1.7 on a chart (any chart, but only one chart), as MADDY will send currency STRONG/WEAK signals to the dancers. The dancers will then interpret these signals and decide if the symbol they are managing is (according to MADDY) going UP or DOWN. If you don't run MADDY, nothing will happen (i.e. no trades will be opened on this dancer). I have been running this option last week with poor results, but we might need one of the MAD Experts (Leon or George) to setup MADDY properly. The GridMaster/GridDancer type of trading is at extremely short intervals, and may be MADDY is just too slow to give accurate short-term direction information.
You can run GridDancerv1.2 together with GridMasterv1.1. Nothing has changed on the Master side.

Note1. If you want to start afresh with a new GridMaster and several GridDancers, make sure to clear your Global Variables. The Global Variables are used to preserve state for if Empty4 crashes and/or the EA is re-initialized. You want to clear your previous state if you start afresh.
Note2. You can mix and match different DirectionBias settings for different dancers. You could eg. put a GridDancer on USDJPY with DirectionBias = UP and another GridDancer on GBPCHF with DirectionBias = Automatic. The DirectionBias just gives each individual GridDancer a sense of direction (rightly or wrongly) that the underlying currency pair is heading at.
Note3. A DirectionBias other than 'Trade both directions', effectively clips the wings (or chops off one leg) of the GridDancer. In other words, it handicaps the GridDancer, to react to price movements. This is not necessarily a good thing. We know that price goes UP and DOWN. It has not been proven yet, whether a uni-directional GridDancer trades better than a GridDancer that is allowed to open trades in both directions. Anyway, something to play with and think about.

Have fun, and please don't forget to report your results and which pairs are good to run this on.

I'm currently running two demos, both with 18 pairs and MaxSpreadPips = 2.0. One demo is trading in both directions and the other is keeping the BUYs and SELLs balanced. Both demos are doing well at the moment with very little draw down. However, I would imagine that the one that is trading in both directions without restrictions would get into strive (serious draw down) at some point. The experiment will determine whether the balanced one would fair better in that department.

Hi Guys,

Firstly thanks to Rene for all his hard work and coding brilliance and George for originally bringing the Maddy concept to us. :good:

I am going to start G/master and G/dancer on the Maddy v 1.7 dashboard with the following settings.
Maddy v 1.7 Dashboard 21 60 - 5 & 15 mins.set
The reason why I like these settings is because it captures intraday swings and based on fresh signals only with a short lookback of 240 minutes.

This also means that you could have trades against and with the prevailing trend but it captures the here and now. It is early days and will tweak as I go along.

If you like a more steady approach with the trend you may want to include 1 hour and 4 hours in your Maddy settings but here is the problem for me. You will have to increase you lookback in minutes and hence you could end up with trades that you do not want because the maddy dashboard will stay highlighted for longer periods.

Trades will not come too often with my settings on the above setfile but every day you should have trades.

My best pairs are GA,AJ,GN,CJ,CadChf,UJ,AN,NJ and EU nevertheles I will run it on pairs that are highlighted on the dashboard for now.

You could also try these Maddy settings but I will hang on with this for now because of the ginormous lookback:
Maddy v 1.7 single ma 5 Tframes.set
My trading hours start from London open and run into New york.

Any suggestions are welcome. This whole concept with g/master and g/dancer is new to me so will learn by trial and error. :) Nevertheless looking forward to this.

Hi Guys,

Here are my trades that opened yesterday. Was a slow day nevertheles my 21/60 maddy dashboard had 3 currency pair trades Audusd, Audjpy and Gbpaud. The day ended in 75 pips profit for me.

Trades that have triggered today so far on Audjpy. You will also see that I have a maddy stack trade, wanted to see if Madtrader can trade in line with the grid dancer and using the same Magic number. Seem to work flawlessly together :) These settings on grid dancer are with "get auto direction". I realized with the first trade that I incorrectly had the comment as Gd balanced and corrected it to Gd auto..

At the time of taking the picture there was a nice drop in aussie yen with one more gd auto trade opening afterwards...currently 65 pips up :good:

Look at the DD relative to the gain, I closed manually through R+R, lot size could easily be larger but 1.5% will be fine for the first day... :yahoo:

I may be dismissing pairs too casually after only 3 weeks but currently is running: GU, UJ, UChf, EG, EA, AU, AN, and UC.
