Holy Graily Bob 'n Dotty 'n Super Slope 'n Flying Buddha

EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

Hehe. Mine had taken no trades by Wednesday. I spent a couple of hours glaring at the code in case I had introduced something to stop trading.

I had, but not in the code. I had ImmediateMarketOrders set to 'false'. With grid trading disabled, the bot was not sending any trades at all.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

OK here's what I am setting up to test next week...
After a bit of clarity this weekend I decided that I will stick to H1 for these tests (with the exception of Leon's set which runs on M1 with H1 HGI as confirmation). Adding M15 and H4 would triple the number of charts I need to run and I already have 10 so I think that is enough for now. I will use a fresh 10k demo for these 10 sets and link to myfxbook shortly too.

I have amended Leon and BTiger's sets a little from what they initially posted to keep common settings across all the sets being tested so that there are not too many variables just the one's being tested for each set.

Essentially Leon set tests the idea of using M1 Flying Buddha's as trigger only after a H1 HGI arrow and BTiger set builds on the BE + JS that I posted but with a closer TP to try and trap a profit between the JS and fixed TP. Initially 11pips was suggested for TP but we agree that is too tight with my wide SL so I have changed to 50pips.

My sets then aim to test the different combinations of Grid, Grid with Offsetting, No Grid, and Sixths + BlSh on or off and these all share a 300pip SL, 1000pip TP, 50pip BE + JS and 720 as the period for Sixths + BlSh.

I have added two control sets using the default 1682 period for Sixths + BlSh as a sanity check. One runs with offsetting which also has all default settings i.e. 5 period for D1 SS not 7 and just Sixths without BlSh and the other control runs without offsetting and is the same as my no grid + Sixths set apart from the 1682 period in place of 720.

Hopefully this selection should provide some meaningful and interesting data. It's going to be fun to watch for sure.

I am very interested to see how you get on with the MultiSymbol controller. It's a great idea and once I know what set file to run with I will definately be giving this a whirl too

Steve, Thomas and TJF,

Thanks for all of your hard work on this trading idea and EA! :cheer: :)

I have started Global Prime demos on my favorite pair to trade, GBPUSD, for 4 Hour, 1 Hour, 30 Minute, 15 Minute and 5 Minute. I'll follow them during the month and report back on how they do.

The only trade filter I am using on all of them is a SuperSlope with a period of 20, but only one timeframe above the trading timeframe.

On the 4-hour demo, for example, the filter is the Daily SS with a Slope Period of 20, and so forth. The only exception is my 15 minute demo, which is going up two TF's and using the 1-hour SS as a filter.

No TP, no SL. BE is 100/20 on the higher TF's, with a jumping SL of 50. On the 15 Minute and 5 Minute demos, BE is 50/10, with a jumping SL of 25.

I'm letting the trades close on the first opposite FB signal, regardless of whether it agrees with the SS color.

Now all I have to do is cross my fingers that I've actually selected everything correctly on each EA. :?
In the time it took me to write this, the 5 minute demo opened and closed a trade for a 3 pip profit.
So far, so good!

I like the idea of trading just the one pair in multiple time frames, so I'll see how this goes.

Thanks again!!

Hi Tjf and Steve,

I must say, I love your work ethic....Passion and this is what forex trading is all about!!!!!. By the way, thanks Steve for all the latest additions. I simply cannot wait to get into Sixths and BLSH with my latest tests, it goes hand in hand.

I am all in for testing all the test files on one currency pair. This I believe is the proper way of testing an Ea, and as Steve says, It could save much needed resources. :good:

I have had to think long and hard this week with swing (reversal) trades, my biggest nemesis and as much as I want to cut losers short I also need to consider my risk reward. It is pointless to have wonderful 25 pip take profits when a few single trades can wipe your profits out with trend exhaustion and reversals.

So I need to be more accurate when I take the trade. Flying Budha is a very interesting indicator as it looks for signals in the opposite direction of the Ma and the more I Iook at it the more I like it. Certainly a mind swing from my original thinking.

At some point I will include Sixths and BLSH and I do believe it will go hand in hand with flying Budha signals on the opposite end.

I am trying different tests at the moment and at some point will be posting my updated tests setfile here as I do believe it goes with my latest thoughts and of course having in mind scalping. Get in and get out with the least amount of losses and of course trying to maximise profits. It becomes a different ball game when you set profit targets of 50 pips per trade and so forth. Risk Reward becomes important.

As I am also in the mould of medium to longer term trades and am definately looking at incorporating Tjf's and Steve's methods but also look at short term strats as surety for drawdown periods to accompany longer term strats.

Rene's multisymbol controller is a very good alternative to babysitting your trades. As I prefer to only have 3 pairs open at any given time, why not have the ea on say 5 pairs and let the controller do the rest.

All the best for the week
Cheers
Leon

Hi everyone,

Here are the results from 3 weeks of testing (sounds like the intro to the Eurovision contest :o ).

No changes made, still using TJF's set file on H1. Still no drama, and still looking mighty pretty

Nice one... It will be really helpful to see which timeframe comes out top for you with this.

Excellent results Louisetano :good:

Just a tip for anyone using Hgi in their tests. You ideally want to get in at the top or bottom half of sixths and I always look for candle closes above or below the 60 Lwma with a retrace and a trend signal usually the second trend arrow. In the example below a typycal scenario of what I need before I load the Ea. I know cumbersome for some but ideal for me as I am close to my computer most of the day ;) This is one way I avoid getting in too late and at the end of trend runs.

I am currently working on tests that will pretty much work in conjuction with this and looking for a much higher profit.

Cheers
