Just in the latest Peaky, did you intend to hide the TakeProfitPips input? Also fyi, just looks like the latest Peaky post saved with the 15m presets, rather than 1hr presets as previous.

Again, appreciate everything you do Steve, from the forum itself, to the generosity, to the humble 'still learning too' attitude, which keeps me from feeling like a total dunce.
I believe some of the focus is on testing viable M15 settings, while I can't speak for anyone's intentions you can look at line 146 in the code and just add "extern" before the "int", look at line 147 for an example, you can then change the settings to whatever you want from the EA.

Oops. No I didn't. V 1j in post 1 has the take profit visible again. It also has the defaults set up again to reflect my live trading on the H1. Possibly.

FYI, inputs visible to the user have 'extern' if front of their code declaration, for example:
extern TakeProfitPips. If I remove the 'extern' from the code and alter the input then recompile, the new value is transferred to all instances of the EA on all charts. I forgot to replace the 'extern' bit.
Again, appreciate everything you do Steve, from the forum itself, to the generosity, to the humble 'still learning too' attitude, which keeps me from feeling like a total dunce.
There are people here whose professional coding skills make me look like the amateur that I truly am. I have learned vast amounts from them. All I do is hack together basic code structures in the most basic coding language on the planet.

Having said that, I am quite good at it these days. You wait until next week when I should be able to reveal what is coming your way. It will blow your socks off.

Lol.....you can't do that Steve :D leaving us hanging like that, waiting for next week already feels an eternity :lol:

Looking forward to it, whenever it is released Steve, thanks once again, for what you do for this community here at SHF.

Cheers

Did u just change TP to 35 or was there anything that u tweaked? I am still staring at 3 open trades :?

Code: Select all

   int scale = ChartScaleGet();
   if (scale != Zoom_Level)
   {
      ChartScaleSet(Zoom_Level);
      //A quick time frame change to force accurate display
      //per = ChartPeriod(0);
      //int nextPer = GetNextPeriod(per);
      //ChartSetSymbolPeriod(0, Symbol(), nextPer);//Change time frame
      //ChartSetSymbolPeriod(0, Symbol(), per);//reset time frame
   }//if (scale != Zoom_Level)
over the top of the existing block.

I was still having trouble with this function and despite copy/paste Steve's instructions still found my chart zooming back out. :arrrg: :arrrg:

So had a go and went ahead and actually deleted the respective lines of code from the EA.....Bingo chart can be zoomed in and out when you desire. Don't believe this has any other impacts but my NOOB hat still fits albeit a bit crooked now. ;)

I suppose it is a bit mean. Here are three charts I have prepared as illustrations in the documentation.

GJ H1 - my live trading time frame:
Down on the H1.png
The market is moving down from its peak high. I would long ago have snaffled (and did) my 100 pips take profit and be awaiting the next peak low. Traders happy to hold their trade until the next PL would be lots and lots and lots of pips to the good yet crying at every retrace and the swap costs. Not to worry; they will profit big time and soonish.

The blue rectangle highlights a retrace. Remember me writing, ".... cycles within cycles within cycles ......" in the user guide?

Here is the same pair but on the M5. The blue rectangle is the one I drew on the H1, extended slightly:
Includes three ups on the M5.png
Here the market emerged from the trading area and hit tp quickly. It fell back into the trading area three times more. Peaky would have sent two more buy stops on two of those occasions, both of which hit tp - look over to the just past the middle of the box and then to right. That is +90 available both to me as the 100 pip tp guy, and to the hundreds and hundreds of pips guy, now laughing all the way through the retrace.

It gets getter still. We know the market is eventually going to a new PL. The retrace will end. Here goes:
Down again on M5.png
The PH you can see is the current peak high. The two previous rectangles mark trades from the previous PH's; I have not measured precisely, but that looks like another +90 using a TP of 30.

That is +180 where I would not have been trading at all and the longer term guys would have been gritting their teeth through the retrace and snarling at the swap costs.

You can repeat this exercise for yourselves to see the power involved:
  • Pick a higher time frame and see which direction the market is moving.
  • Highlight a recent retrace - has to be a recent one or the lower time frames will not have enough bars on their chart to show your highlighted box.
  • Change time frames until you find one with a peak inside your highlighted box and see how many pips you could have made during the retrace.
Peaky on Steroids will be:
  • A multi-pair bot so we do not need hundreds of charts open.
  • Capable of trading 4 time frames per pair. You could be buying and selling the same market at the same time. Retraces will be a thing of beauty, not of pain.
The big work in PoS is upfront. Four time frames involve four sets of all the usual inputs - time frames, magic numbers, trade comments, take profits etc. These need translating into arrays to make coding much easier during function calls and this takes time. This is why it will be next week, at least, before PoS emerges blinking into the daylight. It will be a monster when it does.

Note to my US cousins: time for Revolution, my friends.
