I'm already thinking about it but I'm not shure to do it as MTF or only single TF.
dentiok wrote:With respect to 21MA, there is something that worries me: repaints? or just after to incorporate to the TMA´s assumes the quality of not repainting? or would we need to be replaced by one that have a "true" mode?
come on dentiok...this is a Moving Average....it repaints because the average changes as long as the current candle is not closed or in case of the MTF TMA the step of the TF is not finished.

Thanks for your responses. I need to do a respectful clarification because English is not my language. ;)
I know that a moving average has that behavior and especially in the current bar, but what I mean is if it repaint the past.
I say that because TMA`s (triangular moving averages) also does except for the new versions and especially those caused by zznbrm and skillfully continued by you and paul.
My specific question is whether this MA is reliable to do backtesting (without "true" function) in order to establish a strategy i.e. possible entries/exits, cross points, levels and more, based on the story of the pair.
Please excuse me if my question have no sense and thanks in advance.

It is reliable because the MA is calculated from the values of the TMAtrue of my Indicator. I also do visual backtests with it.

hope this helps to clarify your question.

Following up on Neo's excellent and helpful suggestion of applying moving averages to the TMA, I thought[img][*][/img] why stop there. Given the interest of this thread of trying to dissect the details of the movement in TMA I thought it might be useful to look at RSI applied to the TMA slope. Along these lines, I am big fan of RSI(2) which largely is played against the extremes....sell when it is above 99 and buy when it is below 1. I have only been playing with it this afternoon, but it seems to be playing out along these lines. In the chart below the RSI(2) for the TMA is in red. On top of it I have plotted the RSI(2) for the price action. It seems that there are lots of ways to play the divergences and break outs between the two.

This pair is USD/CAD

I also like taking bites when following the direction of the slope,

This is just me testing on a 5min chart with TMA true bands for entry in the direction of 1H slope if i have the time I am going to trade with this in the simulator to see if I can establish a positive expectancy ?

Amazing?
Harry, Have you checked your method with different MA-settings on D1 and on lower timeframes? Your setup looks amazing

Yes, sure.
Example:TF=H1- MA period 55 applied to D1 TmaSlope(NT indi).MA period depends on pair volatility.

Hi Neo, my schedule last week was insane and I couldn't get to this sooner.
NeoTrader wrote:eg. latest entry in EURUSD ( Data as of yesterday 21h GMT+1)
That's 20h GMT+0 on 7 August, right? My values don't match exactly but they're fairly close.
D1 is at 0.21 ~ weak buy/ranging and steps go up (raising)
H4 is at 0.98 ~ strong buy and steps go down (falling)
H1 is at 0.14 ~ weak buy/ranging and steps go down (falling)
M15 is at -0.32 ~ weak sell/ranging
The cross of the H1 MA gives me the signal to enter short.
D1 is heading up, H4 is heading down. So when H1 crosses down, you'd go short because both H4 and H1 are short. But when H1 crosses up, wouldn't you go long because now D1 and H1 are long?
garyfritz wrote:How is that different from saying "2 of the 3 are above their MAs" ? I assume it's something to do with pullbacks and temporary cross-backs but I'm just not seeing it...
It's not different...did I say/wrote something else? I always said that if 2 of the 3 TFs are in the same direction with TMA/MA cross that this would trigger a trade.
Did I misunderstood your question?
Or I misunderstood your answer. :D Maybe it would help if you explained how you would have traded this market on 7-9 August... the trades I marked on this chart are not right, are they?

(The last two signals assume the D1 is still above its MA, even though it has dropped a bit.)

Hi Gary,
garyfritz wrote:Hi Neo, my schedule last week was insane and I couldn't get to this sooner.
No Problem here...I know that you are a busy man.. ;)

Yes I would (If I would use D1 TF ;) )... your interpretation is correct...
garyfritz wrote:Or I misunderstood your answer. :D Maybe it would help if you explained how you would have traded this market on 7-9 August... the trades I marked on this chart are not right, are they?
Actually they are... ;) If I would use this TF combination I would have traded them as you marked them on the chart. If I see it correct all trades would be low probability with RR of 1:1 or max 1:2 this means SL at 20(25) and TP at 20(25) or 40(50).

hope this helps to deepen the confusion.. ;)

Post subject:  Re: Slope LEVEL -- or DIRECTION?

Using Slope direction,
I am looking at a 1 hr chart with Neo's TMA True SlopeHisto MTF set for 4 hour, with Neo's suggested 21ma applied to it, and I then placed a TVI (tic volume indicator) over the NT indie.
Also using the Daily and weekly opens in price area with notations for Tokyo/ London/ U.S. opens.. and the 5ma.
Actually the tvi closely mimics NT's indie if they are both set to same timeframe.

So far I'm liking what I am seeing, shall see what it produces ..

Template should be set to show correct relations on 1 hr / 4hr or Daily chart.. Threw in the 2 files you might not have.. Pretty easy to see when price is moving with TMA slope from higher T/F...

Note: Up loaded correct TVI indicator.. sorry bout that...

It has been indicated you need the regular TVI.mql in your folder for the 2 color to work.. I did not notice as I had it there already.. and as much as I hate to say it there is a tiny bit of repaint on the 2 color version..none on the stock version.. someone smarter than I can hash it out possibly. Is discussed on the first of the threads I linked a few post farther on... it is very minor, we have all been there right?
