It probably wouldn't hurt to report the CPU issue to the mt4gui folk if its something new in the latest version - they might be able to track down the problem & release a fix.

Yes, that would be fine, flicker was the only problem and it is more stable.

I've been thinking about this drawdown problem with the EA, the system does work but we don't like the drawdown.

We could take the trades on the fly, write to a file, read the drawdown % back into the EA, then let the trades go, when the drawdown is at a specified level.

Any idea's?

This is important:

Please note that my PDF file refers to a modified version I called Multi_10_4_EAv2.01b.mq4. At the moment there's version a on page 1. In version b I replaced some hardcoded coordinates for buttons by relative coordinates that depend on grid coordinates.

Thus following my despcription in the PDF file won't be sufficient to completely resize grid AND reposition buttons. This only works on version b.

So my question to Andy: any idea when you will be able to upload a version that includes my modifications?

Since I installed 2.01 its logfile continuously gets error(132) messages:

Hi all,

If been thinking about the way to go for this EA. A way to fine tune the winnings and drawdowns. This is what I came up with:

1. initial setup

Determine a initial setup for the profit side. The losses aren't very interesting right now. I just want to find the optimum take profit settings. Right now I'm using a trailing percent of 0.33 and trailing percent level 0.67.
For now we just use the exits on the loss side that Bob suggested.

2. Gather data

Gather a significant amount of data. We are looking 3 main things.
1. The average percentage of the profit.
2. Total profitable trades.
3. Total lossing trades.

3. Process data

We want to know the hit rate of the EA and the average profit of the winning trades. Let's say it has a hit rate of 4:6 and the average profit is 0.8%. This means that out of 10 trades 4 are profitable and 6 are not.
With a average profit of 0.8% that means that we can accept an average loss of 0.53% (0.8*4/6) to break-even. If we make the maximum loss 0.5%, we should be (slightly) profitable in long run.

4. Add a stop loss to our EA

Now we use the calculated stop loss (0.5%) with the EA and gather more data.

5. Process data.

Probably the hit rate will shift more to the losing side. This is because the Exit is hit earlier than before. We will do the same as in step 3. We will find a new break even point and enter this in the EA.

After some time we should have a clear idea of the best stop loss setting. One that will give us steady gains and smaller draw down's. Off course the winnings won't be as big as the winnings when we had a wider stop loss, but the profit should be nice and steady through time.

Thank you for your advice! I deleted CADCHF from string symbolsToTrade for now and everything works fine again. This is not EA related.

i suppose it also depends to an extent on your risk settings/lotsize...

Wow, that's crazy. I never saw that. The most I saw was a bit under 1.5% DD. Last night the EA made 2% profit and I had a 4 % floating profit which is now at 2% floating as I type this (retraced a bit).
