Hello All,

I just read the 88 pages of the Maddy's story. :youknow:
What a nice story !
Thank's to all contributors !

I wonder why nobody posted here anymore since two months ?

Any bad news with the use of the EA ?
Or maybe the reverse... nobody have time to post anymore, bagging pips with the toy ?

Well, so many set files here, and only one brain to choose from !

Kind Regards,
OMG ! It’s full of stars !!

It works well as long as you dont use MAs and timeframes. Just use price ticks.

If Renee can modify to accept inputs of ticks, and modify the entry criteria tied to Group and symbols generating entries, it can work well.

The idea is to have 28 symbols in the market watch.
Divide in Groups of USD, CAD, JPY, Group 1 , EUR, GBP, CHF, Group 2 and AUD, NZD as Group 3
and also give a choice of Family group.

Parameters and inputs
1.
Master Group: Yes or No
If yes, choice of Group 1/2 or 3
2. If No
choice of family group: USD/CAD/JPY/EUR/GBP/CHF/AUD/NZD

3. Select symbol to trade :any of 28 pairs listed in market watch.

ENTRY CRITERIA

A.

If select master group 1, then count all the ticks of each price movements of the group currencies USD, CAD, JPY, AND MAKE IT A NETT TOTAL ADJUSTING . CAN BE NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE .

USD family: EUR/USD, USD/JPY, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, USD/CHF, NZD/USD and USD/CAD.
CAD family: AUD/CAD, CAD/CHF, CAD/JPY, EUR/CAD, GBP/CAD, NZD/CAD, USD/CAD,
JPY FAMILY: AUD/JPY,CAD/JPY,CHF/JPY, EUR/JPY,GBP/JPY, NZD/JPY USD/JPY

B,

SELECT symbol to trade: example USD/JPY

C.Minimum no of Pips /per tick: I select 4 pips
Minimum symbols: (number of pairs only) 2

So when any 2 pairs from 21 symbols group go up or down by 4 pips each, then trade is done by itself.
It can be in down direction and after 2 seconds it can be up direction, so there will be two trades
done in say 2 or 3 seconds time depending on the speed of the momentum.

If trend is strong and the speed of the momentum is high, and if you select TP as say 15 for a gbpjpy pair,
there is a possibility of hitting 4 to 5 consecutive trades with profit.

If market is choppy or consolidating, you will have both buy and sell posted and then the possibility of big drawdown can't be ruled out if you don't use any stoploss.

Ideal candidates for such trading will be mean-reverting candidates.

I have not used stoploss as a matter of choice because I want to acquire skills of managing margins, TPs, risks, equity loss, equity profit, estimating time to enter, life of a trade, time to exit. Since 2004, the learning is going on and I am enjoying every moment of it.

If the currency strength or weakness entry idea appeals to forum organisers and Renee, I will share the whole lot of my skills on how to manage margins, drawdown, TPs, Time to remain in trade, cost averaging . All except STOP LOSS. I have no experience in handling the Stop Loss.

Same procedure for Family group trading

If select No,
select GBP as family group
GBPJPY as trading symbol

Same entry criteria of currency strength

Minimum Pips/tick: 2
Minimum symbols: 2

By eliminating focus on entry, you will be concentrating on managment of trades.

This is the picture of latest performance conducted between Jan 21 and May 15 when Brexit volatility triggered momentum, buying trends, selling reversal , choppy trading, consolidation, rotation.

A Pure price action play with no filters applied.
No need to think of entry levels. Pure random trading. Just focus on managing trades.

It is a classical case of how margin and risk management (on a platform which permits hedging using single margin) can baby-sit drawdown comfortably without stopping the pips churning machine.

In this case, the currency strength ticks machine was producing drawdown because of choppy trading and ensured maximal limit of open trades to 18 positions and cripped further trading triggering broker's stopout levels. After 50 days of trade, machine stopped churning pips while preserving enough margin level% to shake off drawdown and steer the trades back to Balnce Line after 32 days.

After the stop-out levels were triggered the broker deactivated the margin line and allowed the trades either to recover or die.

The demo account was deactivated by the broker because of lack of trading activity (atleast once in a month) rule. Hence, sadly there was no opportunity to keep the tick machine active.

Have to do it again. Hopefully, with a new machine coded by Renee.

On the whole, learned a lot about the sheer power of random price action trading without using any kind of filters, managing margins, lots, hedging, drawdown, costs of trading, defining income goals and the power of patience.

Hi optionhk,

If you believe that this vague description of your "system" would make me jump up and start coding, you are totally misguided. I don't have the faintest idea how you are planning to accumulate your ticks and pips to create entry signals for your chosen trading symbols. And I simply don't have the time to try and read your mind. If you had a clear specification together with proven and reproducible performance results I could reconsider.

Cheers ... René

May be my communication skills are poor.
If you tell me what exactly you want to know as parts of the system, despite my poor programming skills, I will attempt to answer them one by one. I hope you will find time for it.

Sorry ... why should I extract the specifications from your foggy mind, for a system you need?

Don't get it.

Simply, I am telling you to give me the parameters you want to get clarified. I will do so .

Basic premises is whether or not you can capture currency strength from tick movements. If you have difficulty with that , I don't want to waste your time further.

I'm running MADTrader on short timeframes with tiny TP (10 pips) and no stoploss. Balance steadily grows and equity also, but slower because of those pesky positions that refuse to reach TP. I have a suggestion to deal with those losers: add an option to allow N positions for each side. Where it checks for existing positions, it would allow 1 sell and 1 buy, or 2 sells and 2 buys. It could be worth it.

I hacked at MADTrader1.1 to implement my own suggestion and improved it to the point where I'm tired of it and confused. It has more switches now but I don't know how to use them effectively. Of note are:

* FixedLotSize
* Min Distance Pips between orders
* MaxPosPerSide (can open multiple positions)
* HedgeLoser (make net position LotSize)
* LogDebug (rudimentary debug logging)
