My best guess Captain.. :youknow:
You "see" what you are looking for because you have created an illusion, something that is real to you and you will "see" it because that is what you are looking for, even if it it isn't really there... thanks for the markup, that was a setup to make the point. I sold you a lie, the same as the Fox does....

Still feel the same way now??

I'm going to copy a post I made at FF to here. The subject matter came up with an old friend of mine during a private discussion we had recently...a look inside the illusion of my reality -

Deep thought mode, on......

Our illusion of reality, is what we create for ourselves, by our beliefs, our convictions and our certainties. Some people believe that the world we live in is a hologram, or an illusion. If you are a spiritual person, then it has to be. Let me explain...

An illusion is a creation, something that is or is likely to be wrongly perceived or interpreted by the senses. Take a dream for example. When you are in the dream, everything is real to you. It affects you, emotionally and physically, therefor it is real. That is, it is real as long as you are in it. Once you leave the dream, the distortion of the illusion is gone and you see the truth again. Our "realities" are illusions. They are things we create that in essence, can and do distort our senses and perceptions. The stronger our beliefs are, the more conviction and certainty that we have towards those beliefs, the stronger the perceptions we experience. Illusions are real because they affect us. We can sense them and we can experience them, therefore they are real. When you cant sense or experience something, then it can't be real. Some of the illusions of our reality, if we let them, are created not by us, but by being convinced by others that their illusion is real. If I can convince you that price prediction is real, that patterns repeat, that this is not random, them my illusion becomes part of your illusion of reality. If I cannot convince you, then you can not sense or experience my illusion, and it is not real to you and it can not exist. You neither experience it nor sense it. That's what it's like when somebody tries to explain trade risk to me and how and why I shouldn't trade as I do. I understand how it is computed if you want a certain % of risk on each trade, but the illusion of risk, as most know it, is not part of my illusion or reality. When trying to explain something to somebody, you are trying to convince them to make your illusion, theirs, but if they have little or no conviction or certainty of the belief, then the illusion will never be real to them and can never be part of their illusions of reality.

That's why I say the world is an illusion because once I pass, I will no longer be in the illusion of this world, and I will see the truth, much the same as when you awake from a dream.

Deep thought mode off...

In order for you to succeed at this, you must shatter the illusions of others, that you were convinced to be real. They are real to you now because you sense them and they affect how your trade, as they were intended to do. Once you awaken from the distortion of those illusions, you will see the truth. Once they no longer affect you, then they will no longer exist. Something can not exist if you can't be affected by or even sense it. You must be convinced to accept my illusions in place of theirs. You must build that belief with conviction and certainty over time and in time, that illusion will exist and become real, and it WILL AFFECT you and your trading. Until then, my illusions will never exist in the illusions of your reality.

Reading all this the 1st time, you have doubts. Going back, those doubts soon become certainties and your conviction deepens as your belief grows stronger... there is no other way and the way is not easy.

Exactly! A lot of information that's needed is overlooked in this thread because of it's length... but you're just tossing money out the door by not reading it all...

You are correct on your assumption of what to expect next. When you can identify the levels and the pushes, which you all should be trying to do, then you can step in and take a trade anywhere in the cycle and be confident in it's outcome.

When you are starting out, I preach to trade ONLY from the Peak High or the Peak Low... because then at least you are going in the right direction.

Everybody comes here in search of the holy grail of price prediction and matching patterns, but in reality we can't even see the pattern that Sympathy follows each and every day, the pattern of placing a trade at a turn point, be it a simply a retrace, a level or a PH or PL.... the same trades are placed each and every day and yet no one sees this pattern. Yet countless people are searching for hours on end looking for chart patterns so they know what price is going to do next.

Why do we take such a simple process and FUBAR it to the max??

Understand that with the SH between levels 2 and 3, always, that you may not have 3 pushes between L2 and L3...

I might state again... which I say a lot here, that a SH to rising prices runs to the high, drops to the low and then GOES! They hit em high and hit them low, and then GO!

SH to falling price is the opposite... lows are hit, then the high of the SH and then it DIES! Hit em low, hit em high and watch it DIE!

Two more repetitive patterns that are overlooked daily, in search of the holy grail....

Captain or Sympathy,

Have I marked this chart up correctly?

I am spending all my time on counting the pushes/levels to ensure that I am only trading at the peak high or peak low following three legs up/down.

This scenario has tripped me up a few times so I'd appreciate any words of wisdom. Thanks, as always.

it basically the same but heed the advice of the others to get the cycle down first.

THIS IS WHY PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE PRICE MAPPING OR PREDICTING....WE STILL DONT'T KNOW THE BASICS OF LEVELS AND PUSHES....

LOOK AT THE RETRACES - WHAT ARE THEY COMPRISED OF? COULD IT BE 3 PUSHES ON EACH??

People call these "Elliot Waves".... they are the price cycle...without knowledge of it, just flip a coin, it's easier...

one of my fav pic's
EW was published in 1938 i think so the pattern has been around for a good awhile :)

if your in a down cycle sometimes the HOD is a good place to enter but i think that has been said many times before.
there are many instruments to choose from. eliminate all but the clearest one/s where you know for sure where your at in the cycle.
having said all this i still need a lot more chart time to become proficient with this method.

This, along with your further comments about our illusions and reality combine to be the best lesson I have seen in 61 years of learning.

...and all offered freely.

You sir are a real star. Thank you so much for your kindness and patience. :hi:

Sorry Ian and I'm not singling you out, but I'm tired of being asked the same question, repeating the same answer and then seeing the same question again. So I'm going to ask the question this time.

Why this pair from you and the all the others who have thrown the same chart up? Why this pair??

The waves do not create price, price created those wave...it is the price cycle...

Much easier....

CJ,

No problem with your answer, I really appreciate your time. The reason I asked the question was because I keep getting fooled by what I am absolutely sure is the end of L3 and then it drops another push.

In answer to your question, no reason for this pair. It just happened to be the latest occurrence of this mistake that I need to eradicate to become a better trader.

I've been through this whole thread twice now and on the second time through I made a load of additions to the original PDF to personalise it for what I think is important. I totally agree with comments made by WhoKnows earlier.

Finally, I found a comment you made on September 30th (in my PDF) about looking at higher timeframes to clarify a count. I did that on this pair - moved to H4 and it is blindingly obvious.

Another lesson delivered from a master teacher. Thanks CJ
