Doesn't matter too much if you are trading only the majors. If you are trading lots of pairs, then that is a definite yes.

Hehe. Having 'refunded' the demo account, it is now up 10% with all flat in just a few hours. All overtrading filters firmly in place.

Normal business resumed until the next seismic shock.

My first post to SHF is to acknowledge HGI/HGB shows true prospect to successful trading.

SNB did took the pips that HGB made, but the spirit of HGI/HGB will continue to shine tomorrow and beyond!! :good:

My gratitude to Steve and the elites (the HGI brain - Bob, the dedicated coders - Tommaso, Elixe, Paul, Boinvest, etc). :hi:

Hi all,

just got the info from my broker that the interbank market will increase the margin requirements for CHF currency pairs and they (my broker) will reduce the leverage of all CHF pairs to 1:20.

Cheers,
Stefan

Sounds like one of those, "Hey Stefan. We have found a new way to screw you and think you are too thick to notice." messages that Cowboy IBFX used to be so fond of. Can you really not become a GP client?

Guy's and galls,

Just trying to wrap my head around something, and can't figure it out.
One trade killed my account today, a buy on GBPCHF. Yesterday I also had a GBPCHF buy, and now I can't agree on the pip-value.

See attached chart with the 2 trades at the top.
GBPCHF.png
What bothers me;
1 st trade: 75.9 pips for $7,45 = appr. $0,10 per pip ( duh, it's 0.01 lot )
2 nd trade: -4296 pips for -$1601,01 = appr. $0,37 per pip, same lotsize

What happened here?
Could the fact it's a USD account have anything to do with it?

Thanks for shining some light into this...

I was so lucky to remove all CHF crosses in my trading pairs last week, except USDCHF...that pair alone cost my balance 25% loss today...can't complain, it could be much, much worse.

I removed this USDCHF pair as well...what SNB did to the market was a pure criminal act. Never seen anything like this in my 15yrs of trading forex!!!!

Hi Gertje,

For a USD-denominated a/c, the pip value is constant for the USD quoted pairs
E.g: EURUSD always works out to $10 per pip per standard lot

But for the same a/c, the crosses will have different pip values, and it will change with price (!) (due to conversion back to your deposit currency, i.e the USD). Had your deposit currency been the CHF, the pip-value would have been standard.

Wrote a simple pip-value indi sometime last year (attached).
Watching it on a couple of pairs (+ coding for risk-based lot-size management in my EAs before that) is what made me realize the variation

The pip value for GBPCHF has definitely gone up as price fell, it used to be below $10/pip/lot

Cheers

Hello,

4 Wave trades within a 10 pip period, with WaveMindistancebetweentrades=10

Using MARKET ORDERS (no pendings)

Experiencing the same in 8 other demos, accross all pairs.

Any explanation for this? I read that this was fixed in 2i, which is the one I'm using.
