Hi Andy, thanks that'd be great! I know what you're saying re fundamental events etc, but on the other hand the EA is entering & closing trades purely on technical grounds, and its those that a backtest seeks to measure. If the entry/exit algorithms can be improved then it should show in an improved backtest, not just on one currency pair over a short period (which would be curve fitting) but on many pairs over years of data.

The other advantage to backtesting would be in identifying other occasions when its entered serious DD, and seeing if there's any technical way of measuring & preventing those trades without shutting out normal profitable trading, as indeed you're doing with the 2nd EA idea. Takes a bit of guesswork out of things when you can compare changes against multiple events rather than just a few recent ones.

Hi Andy,

It would be nice if you would share the back test version of the latest EA with everybody here. I am sure there are other people who are eager to see what profits would it have made in the past during a longer time period, me included.

It would be nice if you would share the back test version of the latest EA with everybody here. I am sure there are other people who are eager to see what profits would it have made in the past during a longer time period, me included.

Would be great Andy. If you need any help in BT just send me PM. I have downloaded full data avaiable from dukascopy for 90% of pairs so I can make BT with 99% modeling quality from 2010 and for some pairs from 2007.

The thing with entries is, that you can not predict the future. You just don't know what is going to happen in even the next minute. The only thing you can do is calculate the odds, from previous data. ( data that will never happen exactly the same again)

Exits on the other hand look at what happend before and the future doesn't matter. Here you don't have to predict. You just need to know when you are happy!

Maybe a lame post, but it is impotant to be aware and don't loose track.

I don't know what happened over the weekend - Friday I shut down and now Monday the display on 2 brokers are not working. I changed from H4 to 30M but still no display - one of the platforms has a pending sell on eurchf - but it looks to be in the wrong place? Shouldn't it be at the weekly pivot?
Maybe the ea is working but not the display? or maybe something else is wrong? last week was great with the ea :cry:
