SERIOUS WARNING
  • Most Forex traders lose all their money.
Using the robot posted here in trading Forex does not guarantee success.
Trading this robot could lead to serious financial loss.
Trading this robot without understanding its underlying trading strategies guarantees traders will lose their money.
This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing and anyone who tries to claim there is, is either stupid or lying. This ea requires frequent manual intervention.
At best, a trading robot is only 90% as good as the manual strategy it trades. At best. At worst, it can be much less effective. If the strategy is rubbish, so is the robot.
To trade this robot, you have to understand Nanningbob's V10.1 trading ststem - and if you cannot understand that, then time to give up on Forex trading..

DO NOT USE THIS EA ON A LIVE ACCOUNT. IT IS EXPERIMENTAL.

Sam sent me the attached pdf last week. He made it by collecting invaluable posts from nanningob's V10 thread. I read it this morning with mounting excitement.

For those of you who do not know him. Bob is one of the best thinkers at Forex Factory and we have him to thank for a lot of initiatives. I have never quite made his systems work for me yet, but there are contributors here trading previous systems profitably - and have been doing so for a long time, so take him very, very seriously. If you like, he is an anti-TIT.

Read the introduction to Bob's thread at http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread. ... ost4846473. Don't bother reading subsequent pages.
    Bob posted 10.1 here: http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread. ... ost5116676

Again, no need to read all the posts from there - Sam's precis appears to cover everything we need to know. Please correct me someone, if there have been changes not listed in the pdf.

Save the indi in your Empty4/Experts/Indicator foler, and the template in the Empty4/Templates folder and start the platform. Load up a D1 chart and add the template. The MACD/Stochastic stuff at the bottom does not appear to play a part in all this, so ignore it. I have not removed it in case I am wrong.

sq, what can I say? The indi is fantastic, absolutely stunning.

I think this deserves its own individual forum. Start your own NB threads here to discuss the trading method, or post in this thread - whatever suits you best.

    The Incomparable Bob
TIB works with the lines drawn on your chart by sq's indi. You must have it on your chart for the EA to work.

TIB comes with added Hanover and CBI.

    Hanover
The Hanover module allows us to trade in the direction indicated by hanover's Recent Strength indi. I consider this to be the most significant development in my time at FF. Details in the Hanover thread at http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=319709 If you use Hanover, I recommend lawgirl's ratio of 1:4 to 1:6 between your trading and higher-direction time frames. For example, if trading the M5 chart, use M30 as your Hanover time frame.

    CBI module
For details about what this does, visit the Hanover thread linked in the previous paragraph.

    EA inputs
You will find descriptions of many of the inputs in the attached Shell User Guide. I wrote it for issue with bots I code in the future. Where you see inputs described that you do not see in the EA's inputs list, ignore them.

The remaining inputs are related solely to to TIB.
    • Stop loss inputs allow you to specify a stop loss. Be warned that there is no idiot checking here. The bot works through the list and uses the last one specified, so if you select more than one option then the latest one is the one used:
      • StopLoss: stop loss in pips
UseBlue: Sets the stop at the blue line.
UseRed: Sets the stop at the red line.
UseOppositeD1SR1: sets the stop at Daily S1 for a buy, or Daily R1 for a sell.
UseOppositeD1SR2: sets the stop at Daily S2 for a buy, or Daily R2 for a sell.
FailedStopLossPips: it is possible for a dynamic stop loss to be too close to the market to allow the trade. This is a problem with ECN crims. Where TIB finds a missing stop loss, it will add one based on this input.
      Take profit inputs:
      • TakeProfit: a tp in pips
UseD1SR2: Sets a tp at the next s/r line
FailedTakeProfitPips: as for the FailedStopLossPips input but catering for missing fp's.
Support and resistance inputs. At the mo, there is only the D1, but I envisage being able to add more in the future.
Pending trade inputs. TIB works in full Stealth mode, and so places pending trade lines on the chart rather than sending actual pendings to your bastard criminal. TIB send market trades once the Bid crosses the first support line (sell) and Ask passes the first resistande line (buy). Note that these trades will look a little strange unless you have the Ask line showing on your chart - it will look as though the trade was sent prematurely as the charts only show the Bid by default.
      • BufferPips: the pips above/below the next S1/R1 line to place the pending trade
BuyLineColour: colour for the pending buy trade line
SellLineColour: colour for the pending sell trade line
TradingTimeFrame: TIB will delete the pending trade line at the start of each new candle selected here. Defaults to D1.
      Alternative exit strategies
      • CloseOnTrendChange: TIB will close an open trade if the trend changes direction.
Trading modes
There are two of these, controlled by these inputs:
  • GrabitBob:
    • This trades as Bob intended 10.1 - a single trade at a time, based purely on the two moving averages and the next line of D1 s/r
    TrendyBob:
    • This attempts to stay in with the trend as we are trying to do in in the 'Swing-trade your way to the baby equity millipede' thread, so:
      • No take profit for each trade
        Stop loss as usual
Once a trade has its stop moved to breakeven or better, then TIB will allow further trades
Each trade needs some sort of trailing/jumping/candlestick stop loss. The trade will eventually stop out when this is hit. The defaults are a candlestick ts, based on the hi-lo of the H4 candle two bars ago
All Averages
I have included the AA indi so that we can use the W1 trend to confirm our trades. The defaults equate to 10 weeks of W1 charts.

Understanding sq's indi
The success of the ea depends entirely on how well set up is your indi. To understand this, read sq's post at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 3106#p3106

In conclusion
I have coded all this with the intention that adding xxx in the future should be easy. For example, we might want more s/r time frames, so these should be simple to add.

Have fun.

:D

Great stuff Steve. I have been trading this on demo manually for a few weeks and the results are promising. One thing we have been discussing is a filter to prevent 'fake-outs' of the key H4 levels. As is often thde case with Forex, the key H4 support and resistance levels often get hit for a few pips then reverse and chop about before breaking. If trading on a daily TF then this is not too bad as one has wider stops anyway. I know Bob was looking at a lower TF MA filter - ie, orders would be set below a key H4 level if the 2ma was above the 8ma but there was some talk of finding a lower TF MA filter to prevent whipsaws around these levels. Maybe some other indy, say CCI or RSI on the lower TF would have to be at extremes and then crossing the 30/70 lines in the right direction?

We can see how it goes.

I have started the EA. Not sure if I will finish it today because Sunday I have a lot of teaching, but we should have it up and running tomorrow sometime. I am just at the making-sure-I-am-dragging-the-correct-values from the indis stage.

@Steve

Yeah, good idea to just see how it goes. If the EA is successful it would reduce that 'user-input' randomness that one has when trading H4 manually. Us humans can't quite accept that some of the best trading systems are very simple - we have to tinker and mess things up!

I have also been testing this with manually drawn SR levels that I draw from a line chart on the monthly and weekly TFs. These multi month levels are very strong and once these break they tend to travel from one to the next. These levels are best taken with confirmatory reversal price action around them such as hammers, shooting stars, bearish/bullish engulfing etc.

The only other issue the EA may have is that the S and R lines from the indicator are quite dynamic and will re-paint as new support and resistance levels are made, especially as price moves around them. This might cause the EA issues on entering (say when S line is broken in a downtrend and EA wants to place order below that line, but as price approaches the line may move) - something we will have to let play out and develop on demo.

If this EA is successful it promises to be one of the best yet - exciting times!

Steve,
On Squillos SR indicator could you add a weekly level? You can already add H4, H1 and M15 but I would like to demo this in tyhe weekly TF for true set and forget trading?!

Thanks Steve.

This looks very promising indeed.
Will try it out on demo.
