Hey Gang,

I found this handy little indicator at https://sites.google.com/site/marketfor ... e-analysis

It shows the total pips won or lost for trades opened each hour of the day, for each symbol using the same magic number. It does not reset each day, so, take a snapshot of the indie at the same time each day to work out the best hours of each day to run your EA.

As you can see, midday gives me a few nice pips, so after a few more weeks of forward testing, I'll set the start-stop times to around 11:45-13:15, then start widening or narrowing it 'til the EA I'm testing pulls the most pips.

I've been playing with this for a while now, and realised that it would be handy to have it show the most profitable days as well.

Could somebody please modify the indicator so that gives us stats for each hour of each day, like this...

I think this would be great to use with Steve's "Bob's Biggest Balls" EA... One copy for trend trades, and another copy for scalp trades.

Just what I was looking for to help me get the correct trading sessions for BBBE!

I don't have enough trading results for this to be valid yet but I hope it will work with back-testing results,
when I finally get back-testing to work, or rather when I have been able to stitch together a few years worth of quality data.

Since BBBE is a basket trader and I don't even have a complete set of data for even one pair it might be a while :(

In order to do this in one copy of BBBE I am adding three sets of trading time filters as I think this might suit me better than setting up three copies of BBBE.

One question in my mind is how static are the best trading times, can they change from week to week or month to month?

One outcome might be not to trade certain pairs at all,
or another could be to modify the trading logic for certain pair-groups.

Anyway, I looking forward to a better understanding of the results.

Well, the idea of three separate instances is so that you only trade Asian pairs in the Asian session, European pairs in the European session, and the rest in the New York session, as per NanningBob's recommendation... It would be good to know if we can be consistently profitable when scalping outside those hours, though.

I guess it depends on the system... I was using an anti-grid system, on 5M charts, and hour 12 was a consistent winner for the first week, but the next week it went down the tubes :( We'd probably get more consistency on higher timeframes, though. I guess I'll find out over the next few weeks ;)
