Post subject:  Multi Trader EA Strategies and Testing

After sounding out Mr Long and testing interest to collaborate and develop semi automated strategies based on the final multi trader 10.4 I have started this new thread - looking forward to traders bringing their 10.4 experience and expertise as well as experience with this EA to develop profitable low DD strategies.

One of the starting points for this exercise was the strong affinity to trend trading 10.4 style - trading the retracements back in the direction of the trend - I have coding, trading and strategy experience 1-2 years - not quite at 10 000 hours although my wife says I passed that months ago. Anyway usually I am working during the week and generally trade end of day and review at weekend - and there lies part of the problem with successful 10.4 discretionary NB style. So I looked for an EA found Andy's development 4 months ago contributed and used but suffered drawdowns that took my profit away. Like any trend EA it gets caught out in sideways markets and reversals. This EA is much better than most and performs well in trending markets and can with the filters avoid the worst of the DD. Andy then built in a range of options that is massive and allows the experienced user to define their own strategies. So the EA is complete Andy said run with this thread he will not lead he may contribute and will look at fixes (obviously not endless development loops based on nice to have but certainly any fixes / bugs proved and identified).

So lets collaborate on getting the best out of this EA structuring the TRADE SELECTION, TRADE ENTRY and TRADE MANAGEMENT criteria that give the best results.

My view on an EA such as this even with set files you are initially happy with is it will still require maintaining - 1 hours review at weekend plus up to 1 hour every evening - reviewing trades, changes in the CSS, market news calendar, major SR lines and modifying pair selection. As well as spotting any thing that did not follow the trade logic and if necessary putting it back in the garage (switching off) until the reason is understood and or fixed. I trade this EA both live and demo.

Note the main post for the EA is not on this post it is on the following go there for details:

So lets start to define the Strategies to Test
Focusing initially on selection and Entry although to compare results we will need to have common trade management settings as well.
All settings OOTB unless otherwise defined set files TBD after strategy consensus (I use the word consensus knowing that with experienced traders this is like "herding cats!"

Selection - defines the rules for selecting the pairs to Trade
CSS dist. from 0 - i.e. Speed
CSS angle above the line and angle up=acceleration
and angle down deceleration below the line angle up deceleration below the
line angle down acceleration.

Entry - defines the entry criteria in the EA e.g. RSI2, CSS, Pivot level selection mid or SR1, or 2

Trade Management - pivot selection, basket trailing and profit level, pairs trailing TBD all in final version of EA

1. Strategy 1 -
a) Select best Pairs on Sunday from CSS 10.410.5 info page on D1 take top 2 currencies above 0.4
and below -0.4 plus 2 currencies that are above +0.2<0.4 and below -0.2>-0.4 and that have an
angle (therefore acceleration) towards greater strength or weakness respectfully and combine
all potential pairs strong to weak. Put pairs in currencies to trade in EA. Revise each evening if pair
selection still valid
Check if Pair is approaching a major daily SR line if yes take out of selection if likely to influence.
To make this less subjective I suggest using a common indi I use evertrend on h4 over the
last 3000 bars but happy to consider other - as long as it does not litter charts with 100s of lines,
b) Use RSI2 98 & 2
c) CSS on

2. Strategy 2 -
as per strategy 1
b) RSI off
c) CSS on

3.Strategy 3 -
a) as per 1
b) RIS2 on
c) CSS off

4 Strategy 4-6 TBD

as you can see pair selection alone could have D1 level and angle H4 level and angle 4 strategies before you even touch other criteria such as RSI etc. However, I believe that selection is a key part of running this EA consistently.

I would therefore like to ask the forum from their experience with this EA 10.4 final v1 or since v2.00 or from the wider 10.4 forum what strategies they consider to be the best options selection , entry and trade management.

I will coordinate and generate the set files for testing

Hi Jonathan,

I would suggest to include RSI2 80/20 for testing. I've been testing this with good results except the DD. So hopefully with the CSS trade selection, the big DD could be minimised.

I think that's a good idea - CSS and RSI 98 2 combined is very limited for trades what your suggesting opens up the picture enough to potentially capture good others.
I like this also because I have just been reading technical analysis for the trading prof -constance brown and she talks about RSI being an excellent trigger for retracements in trend markets using a range for example on RSI sensitive to strength of DT UT.

Hi started looking at next week to select the pairs to trade from CSS D1 on basis of strength and trajectory (accel decel) plus then review if there are any roadblocks (major S&R that might need a tank to get through rather than just a car to confer with continuation of trend)

USD+ EUR + JPY + NZD - AUD - CAD - then assemble the pairs
CSS Only Review of major S&R
USDCAD+, upto1.0436 ok 1.
EURCAD+ No too close to SR
AUDUSD- ok to 0.94025 2.
NZDUSD- No too close to SR
EURAUD+ OK for 300pips 3.
EURNZD+ No too close to SR
AUDJPY- No too close to SR
NZDJPY- ok broken major SR 4.
CADJPY- OK 5.

5 on initial watch list for 10.4 H4 EA any one agree?
