• you take out trades over a number of different pairs. This is your 'basket' of trades.
• the success or failure of individual trades within the basket is irrelevant.
• all that matters is the success or failure of your basket of trades:
  • if you have more winners than losers then you can close out in profit.
  • if you end up with an overwhelming number of losers, then you have to close out at a loss.
