Oh dear...! I was just hoping you'll be the lone voice to stand up and say something nice about it for once! With all its warts and blemishes, there MUST be something to be said for it though. 95% of all traders can't be wrong...or can they?

It's really fascinating to see the amount of bashing Empty4 gets routinely. It has become fashionable to run it down at every opportunity. I don't see a whole lot of us migrating to some other platform though. Have you given a thought to what you would do if it suddenly was no longer available next week? I'll tell you what I'd do...I'll break down and cry, that's what!!!!! :cry: Well, maybe not - but I suspect this is a case of finding it hard to appreciate something because it's always there for the taking.

Perhaps a little gratitude on the odd occasion might not be totally misplaced - while it remains the platform we love to hate.

I do, and I sure don't appreciate a platform that randomly shuts down or that changes my settings or removes my EA's...that sort of behaviour cost's money, money that I have worked extremely hard for. Of course my money is a mere pittance in the massive ocean of traders that metaquotes has using their platform and if one trader loses their money due to platform failure, they really don't care!

Metaquotes responded to a message from one of our members a week ago saying it was aware of the memory leak problem and it was being fixed in an update on the 10th October. It's still not fixed...so where does the responsibility lie now? MQ has acknowledged the problem, but have they sent a warning message out to traders (via their brokers or directly via their platform)? No they haven't, nor have the brokers...I actually wonder where the liability would be if a trader decided to take legal action to recoup losses that may occur when platforms crash/settings change etc when metaquotes have been fully aware of the situation? Metaquotes are making a huge amount of money of their platform, the very least they can do is offer a stable, reliable platform and offer at least a modicom of customer service.

As for traders migrating to other platforms, unfortunately when brokers are not offering any alternatives then that makes it difficult.

I couldn't have said it better! It is quite frustrating. Every time I look away and come back to my computer my Empty4 comes up missing or my EA's have dissapeared. I often wonder why brokers deal with this software and why it has a monopoly on most of the available brokers.

The US is already limited when it comes to trading. Margin, FIFO among other BS dealing with forex. Oh well, I guess we gotta suck it up.

We all know that Empty4 is a shit-platform. And now (with build 711) it has come to the point that it is costing us money, However, airing frustrations does nothing to improve it. I don't believe that CrapperQuotes are reading the posts on SHF (or any other forum) and say: "Gee, so many users are frustrated with our platform, let's make it a bit better". We can not control the reliability of Empty4. However, we can move to another platform. Shelley, I agree with you that the choices are limited, but I believe that this is due to supply and demand. If masses of people would move to cTrader (or something else), more br0kers would offer that platform. It is time (long overdue) to give CrapperQuotes some competition.

They were the first ones out of the gate (I assume) that had wide broker acceptance and programming such that a knuckle head like me could write experts. If they all started at the same time I don't think Empty4 would be where they are today. Actually, I know they wouldn't be. I can deal with all the wrinkles but this auto update to seemingly untested software isn't helping anyone.
